Chapter 17: Dad is more important! (1)

It would be a lie to say that she was not excited.

Huo Xiaoxiao had been lying in the crib for a whole month. She finally learned to crawl when she felt that her limbs were almost degenerating.

Her hands and feet hadn’t rested much since she learned to crawl. Besides, she’d never lie in her crib as a salty fish if she could crawl on the ground.

Later, when she learned to walk after eight months, she cheerfully strolled around the mansion with her two short legs every day.

Now that she could speak, Huo Xiaoxiao was so excited that tears filled her eyes. She ran to Huo Suicheng with trembling legs. In order to make sure that she could speak properly, her mouth babbled incessantly. She disregarded her image in public, appearing impolite.

At a distance of five or six meters, she quickened her pace, made a sprint, clutched the gifts in her hands tightly, and jumped into Huo Suicheng’s arms. Her small mouth spread to the back of her ears; her big eyes, like black grapes, narrowed into a slit; and she called out to her father in a muffled voice.

Perhaps it was by nature, but Huo Suicheng’s mind thought faster than Huo Xiaoxiao when he turned to look at her. His arms were not stiff, either. Instinctively, he made preparations in advance and held his daughter in his arms.

When he finally reacted, a little soft ball in his arms looked up and smiled at him.

The smell of milk on the tip of his nose was still fresh in his memory.

Huo Suicheng thought on his way back that since he had not seen his child for more than a year, he had long forgotten her face. Perhaps, he might not even recognize her.

When he took Huo Xiaoxiao out of the hospital, she was just born a short time ago. Most likely, she did not remember him either.

But when he came in from the door and saw Huo Xiaoxiao’s face, she didn’t feel like a stranger. Instead, there was an exclamation in his heart. This child has grown so big.

The one-year-old also seemed to remember him, rushing over to hug him.

One minute before, he saw her racking her brain over how to ‘take possession’ of these gifts on the table, but the next minute, she had jumped into his arms.

It looked like in her eyes, those gifts were not so important anymore, as if she had seen something much more valuable.

Huo Suicheng hugged her and walked in front of his father, as usual, with no facial expression. Even his child, who called him “father” and hugged her, could not cause his mood to fluctuate.

He had come back late; therefore, Old Master Huo was not that pleased. “Why did you come back now?”

But he didn’t scold him too much. When Old Master Huo looked down at Huo Xiaoxiao, his eyes became tender and gentle. “You have no conscience. Your grandpa has looked after you for more than a year.”

Huo Xiaoxiao opened her mouth to make the old man happy. But even after two tries, she couldn’t utter a word for a long time.

She was horrified to find that although she could speak, she could only say “father”.

“Ba! Ba!

“…” Huo Xiaoxiao was in a complicated mood.

The old man felt sorry for his granddaughter, but he didn’t really care whether she called her father or grandfather first. He looked at her full hands and the car keys hanging on her toes and smiled. “You clever little girl, do you feel that you have enough in your two hands? Look at what’s left on this table.”

The old man, who always liked to tease his granddaughter, immediately took the things from her hands. Whether she could understand or not, he said to her, “If you want them, come to Grandpa.”

Huo Xiaoxiao sighed.

Old Master Huo was good at everything. But she was helpless because he treated her like a child all day long.

Was there any need to choose?

Money might be precious, but familial love was much more so!

Was the father-daughter affection between her and Huo Suicheng comparable to these sports cars, villas, and bank cards?

She and her father hadn’t seen each other for a year. How could she abandon her father because of this?
