Chapter 19: Dad is more important (3)

Huo Suicheng glanced down at her. “Sleepy?”

Huo Xiaoxiao yawned, held Huo Suicheng’s leg, and closed her eyes.

As long as no one quarreled with her, she was so sleepy that she could sleep while standing.

Old Master Huo whispered behind him, “Take her back to the room to rest.”

Huo Suicheng bowed and picked Huo Xiaoxiao up. The moment when her cheek touched his shoulder, Huo Xiaoxiao lost consciousness and fell asleep with her mouth half-open.

Huo Suicheng seldom touched children, so it was the first time he saw her sleep so well. He gently held her back to her baby room and put her in the cot. The child was easy to wake up. Huo Xiaoxiao opened her eyes the instant he lay her on the bed, but the next second, she saw Huo Suicheng in front of her and closed her eyes.

The room was dimly lit, leaving two small night lights at the head of the bed. The two cute bear dolls at the bedside were the same ones Huo Suicheng saw a year ago before he went abroad.

He stood at the edge of the bed and looked at Huo Xiaoxiao’s two chubby cheeks. Without considering whether he would disturb her sleep, he stretched out his hand and pinched her like an angel.

It was so strange. This little face, which was not even as big as his palm, was softer than bean curd. At the moment of pinching it, there was an indescribable warmth running straight from the palm to his beating chest, like a raging fire had met soft cotton candy. So strange.

After being pinched twice, although Huo Xiaoxiao didn’t wake up, she frowned and muttered a few words. Then, the little face rubbed against the back of his hand, which was squeezing her cheek.

Huo Suicheng was stunned. Then he moved from pinch to touch, gently caressing the red face. He even chuckled twice without noticing, covered her with the quilt, tucked in the corners, and quietly withdrew from the room.

He found Old Master Huo and asked with a frown, “What’s going on with that caretaker?”

Old Master Huo asked back, “Isn’t Xiao Xu assigned by you? Why? Is there any problem?”

Huo Suicheng’s face changed, and his brows furrowed even tighter. He shook his head after thinking for a long time and temporarily swallowed the words back. “Nothing.”

  ——

In the middle of the night, Huo Xiaoxiao opened her eyes slowly.

It had become her habit to wake up in the middle of the night. When she was hungry, she would cry twice, getting Xiao Xu to mix milk powder for her to drink. When she was not hungry, she would get out of bed and practice climbing and walking on all fours.

There was a reason for this effort.

The main thing was that she felt that her body was probably a bit weaker than ordinary people and that she could not afford to lose at the starting line. Else, her ‘hardware’ would not be able to keep up, and having a brain would not be a solution.

She crawled out of bed quietly, crouched, and carried a small stool to the door. She tiptoed, raised her hand to reach the door handle, and pulled down firmly. The door opened.

The door opened quietly. She poked her head out of the room and looked out. The corridor was silent.

At the right end was the Old Master Huo’s room, and at the left was Huo Suicheng’s.

She narrowed her eyes and smiled quietly, slipping into Huo Suicheng’s room without making a sound.

The first step in saving the villain was to have a good relationship with him.

She guessed that the father-daughter bond had dissipated during the year abroad. So, it was necessary to reduce the distance between them to ease the relationship.

Huo Suicheng hadn’t slept at this point. He stepped into the bathroom to wash his face after dealing with the company affairs, unaware that a little, white, half-hairy melon outside the door was carrying a stool to open his door.

When he came out of the bathroom and was about to go to bed, he discovered that his bed linen was arched at a far corner.

When he opened the quilt, he found Huo Xiaoxiao curled up on the bed and sleeping like a dog.
