Ch9 - Fei Fei’s New Tutor

Fei Bai remembered when Luo Yusen said that there were important recordings in the recorder, and thought to himself how many impression points would be deducted from him if he admitted that he lost it.

So he said, “I forgot where I put it brother, give me some more time…”

Luo Yusen didn’t answer, and his gaze fell casually on a book at his bedside, “Do you like Borges?”

Fei Bai saw the book “The Endless Rose” that he had placed beside his pillow, and was embarrassed to say that it was used for hypnosis before going to bed.

Wait, he seems to see something sandwiched between the book.

Fei Bai leaned over to fish out the poetry collection and took out the voice recorder from it.

He has obsessive-compulsive disorder, and he never folds pages when reading. He should have used the recorder as a bookmark yesterday.

So Luo Yusen had already seen where the recorder was and deliberately waited until now to tell him.

Fei Bai felt a little warm on his cheeks when he thought of the way he pretended to be calm just now.

“Thank you, brother.” He whispered.

Luo Yusen stretched out his hand to him, “You’re welcome.”

His fingers were slender and even, and the palm lines were clean and smooth. This hand helped him hold the coffee cup two days ago and stuck it to the back of his hand.

It took Fei Bai a moment to react and handed him the recorder.

Luo Yusen took it, stood up, and walked out the door. “I’ll get you a new one next time.”

When he sent him out, Fei bai glanced at the clock on the wall. It was still less than ten o’clock. He still had half of the morning to squander freely.

When Luo Yusen went downstairs, he heard his footsteps echoing in the narrow corridor. He had never lived in such an old-fashioned residential building without elevators before. Today, he knew for the first time that someone would hang clothes in the corridor.

In fact, he could have asked the driver to come and get the recorder, but somehow he became curious about where Fei Bai lived and wanted to turn around and take a look before going to work.

The door downstairs was always open, and some residents directly blocked the door with bricks for the convenience of entry and exit. When he saw it, he frowned subconsciously, wondering whether it was safe for children to live here.

Speaking of which, an elder bought him a house in a nearby high-end community when he was studying at S University. After graduation, he didn’t come there to live often, but he didn’t sell or rent it, because he had always been possessive of his own things.

Luo Yusen turned on his phone and took a look, it was almost half past ten. He was delayed at Feibai’s place.

“Then go and report to the finance department and deduct my salary for this month,” he said.

Luo Chengcheng laughed dryly, “How dare I do that, Mr. Luo, I’m still counting at you to pay me my salary.”

He looked at Luo Yusen and felt that the other party was different from usual. Luo Yusen’s expression is rare and soft as if he has just experienced something pleasant.

Luo Chengcheng didn’t want to let go of this gossip opportunity. He asked with a twinkle in his eyes, “Brother, where did you go this morning?”

Luo Yusen loosened the collar of his shirt, “To see Feifei’s new tutor.

“Fei Fei’s new  tutor?” Luo Chengcheng became interested, “Male or female? How old are they? And how do they look?”

Male, under twenty years old, still a child, as for what he looks…

Luo Yusen remembered the charming smile that FeI bai had in the coffee shop that day for no reason. He coughed and returned to the office without answering Luo Chengcheng’s boring question.

“Boring.” Luo Chengcheng pouted.

He took the time to chat with Secretary Zheng again. He received a phone call in the middle. After hanging up, he scratched his hair with some annoyance. “Sister Zheng, this partner is also too difficult this time. He is forcing me to reduce the price by 20%. After several discussions, he couldn’t come to a conclusion. He came to have lunch with me again today. Its probably going to be a protracted war..”

He looked at his watch, “I have an appointment in a Japanese restaurant near S University. If I go there late, there may be no place to park, so I’m going to leave now. Please tell my brother for me ~”

“Just find a reason to escape from work.” Secretary Zheng tapped him with his fingers.

Fei Bai didn’t expect to finish dealing with Xu Geyang and Luo Yusen so quickly in the morning. He opened the refrigerator and took out a can of Coke. It occurred to him that he hadn’t seen his grandma for a while.

His grandmother also lives in the city. She is a very interesting old lady. She is very unwilling to give a face to others. For example, when his grandfather was still there, he once asked her to accompany her to the 60th anniversary of primary school graduation. She was watching cartoons with Fei Bai wearing reading glasses at the time. Hearing this, she said impatiently, “Just tell them that I’m gone. Anyway, there won’t be a few people left.”

Not only did his grandma not give a face to her partner, but also to her son. Feibai was naughty when he was a child and did not perform well in school. After his father returned, he started to nag, saying that he had never let Feibai’s grandfather be invited to the school by a teacher before, and grandma answered coldly from the side, ” Because I was the one who went there.”

Later, when Fei Bai was in high school, his parents found out that he was in a relationship with Xu Geyang. His parents forced him to break up with Xu Geyang, otherwise, he will be kicked out of the house and cut off his financial resources. Feibai did not bow down. After slamming the door and walking away, he gritted his teeth and walked outside all night. In the end, his grandmother found him. The next day, his grandmother rented a house for Fei Bai to move in and took care of him until the end of the college entrance examination.

During this period, Fei Bai’s father came to make trouble again and told her that if she spoiled Fei Bai’s nonsense again,  he would disown her as a mother.

Grandma Fei Bai snorted, “Dare to threaten your mother? I don’t even recognize you as my son!”

From that moment, in Feibai’s eyes, grandma changed from an interesting old lady to a domestic old superman and a contemporary female bodhisattva.

All right, so this morning I will visit and worship the old Bodhisattva of my family.

Fei Bai threw the can of coke into the trash can, put on his school bag, and ran downstairs kicking and screaming. After leaving the gate, he went out to a nearby bank to get some money, and then swept a shared bicycle to ride in the direction of his grandma’s home.

His grandmother’s house was not far from his current rented apartment, and it would take him 20 minutes to get there by bike. It should be just in time for him to go back to school after eating there.

At this hour, there were not many cars on the road, and the bike lanes were even more spacious. Feibai accelerated and stepped on the pedals a few times. The cool breeze blew past his face and filled his T-shirt, giving him the illusion that he was gliding.

When he arrived, his grandma was about to go out, holding a flour-stained rolling pin in her hand. When she saw him, she was surprised, “Fei Fei, why are you here?”

Then she looked behind him again, “Where is Xiao Xu? Xiao Xu didn’t come with you this time?”

Fei Bai didn’t think about how to tell her about breaking up with Xu Geyang, so he decided to change the subject first.

“Why do you still bring a rolling pin when you go out?”

“Oh, someone downstairs robbed us of our square dance venue. I guess we’ll have to do it for self-defense in the next two days.” Grandma said calmly.” Grandma said calmly.

Feibai swallowed and decided not to talk about Xu Geyang. He was afraid that after he finished speaking, his grandmother would go straight to school and use a rolling pin to roll his ex-boyfriend into a photo.

“It’s been more than a week since Feifei started school. You haven’t come. I thought you were busy with your studies in the second year of sophomore year, and I didn’t dare to call you for fear of affecting you.” Grandma tapped Feibai’s shoulder with a rolling pin.

“I… I’m a little busy.” Fei Bai said.

“Oh, then don’t do your part-time job at the convenience store. I told you how many times, I’ll pay for your living expenses. I have a pension and  I also saved some money.” Grandma rambled and dragged him into the room.

“Ive stopped working in the convenience store,” Fei Bai pressed the envelope with the money in his pocket under the vase on the cabinet while grandma was not paying attention, “The professor who took me on the project introduced me to the work of tutoring. I can earn a lot of money, so you don’t have to worry about me. Buy yourself more food and clothing, or go on a trip.”

He used to work nightshift in a convenience store, but he hasnt been in the mood to go after his lovelorn. He didn’t answer the phone call, and the matter was gone.

Grandma said “Oh.”

“How about the parents of that family?”

The parents are quite good, handsome, wealthy, and highly educated. They also gave me a green hat.

Fei Bai smiled and said only the first half of the sentence.

Grandma helped him take off the schoolbag on his shoulder. “It’s almost time for dinner, what do you want to eat?”

Fei Bai was going to say something coquettish, such as  I want to eat whatever you make, but he found out that the next second his grandma took out her phone and opened the takeaway app.

So he paused and said, “It’s fine, I want to eat whatever you ordered.”

Then his grandmother ordered the well-known snail noodles.

When the takeaway food was delivered, Fei Bai smelled that smell, and always felt that it was different from the scene he imagined where the grandparents and grandchildren were happily together.

Grandma didn’t think there was anything wrong with it. She helped him tear the packaging bag of disposable tableware and shared with him the current situation of her life, “Let me tell you, Feifei, when I was dancing in the square recently, there was always an old man looking at me and complimenting me for being like a little swan.”

Fei Bai may have been a little dizzy from the snail powder, so he opened his mouth and asked, “Are you sure he is not talking about the little swan washing machine?”

Then he saw Grandma picking up the rolling pin.

Fei Bai’s elbow was still aching when he rode his bike back to school. When he was about to reach the west school gate, he couldn’t help but free his hand to rub it. As a result, he didn’t know what was pressing under the wheel at this time. The front of his bike veered to the side and grazed a luxury car parked on the side of the road. His elbow also slammed into the door of the car, and the pain caused his tears to burst out uncontrollably in an instant.

The window of the luxury car slowly lowered, and he saw the face of a young man.
