Primordial Dimensions

Chapter 142 - Split Personality?

Shane found it ridiculous that their group should defeat a peak awakened beast with the three of them, while only Aimy and Olivia were at the Expert stage.

If they really had to fight against such a highly advanced centipede as before, he would definitely be a hindrance, because his strength was negligible when compared to an awakened stage elemental subterra centipede with a more advanced elemental affinity.

Sighing deeply he looked at Aisha who stood in front of them, without showing any emotions. He suddenly got an idea which caused him to raise his hand before asking

"I doubt that our group will be able to cope with the dangers of a peak awakened beast, is it possible for a Valkyrie to help us to a certain extent?"

Aimy and Olivia looked at him suspiciously as he asked the question but in the end, they knew that it would be too dangerous to fight against the same centipedes Aisha and the Valkyries fought only with the three of them.

As such, they just nodded their head, glad that Shane had asked, even if he seemed uncomfortable in doing so.

The two girls were aware of Shane's pride and thus they knew that it must have been even more difficult for him to request help.

Hearing Shane's question, Aisha directed her gaze towards him, before she nodded, as she said.

"Obviously, we don't want anyone to be injured and if your team of three would be able to defeat a peak awakened elemental subterra centipede at your cultivation ranks without any help, there wouldn't be a need for any one of you to be even here with us."

She looked at Frer standing next to her and returned her gaze with a nod.

Seeing Frer walk towards him, Shane couldn't help but feel that it was perfect for him to investigate more about her bloodlust.

He hoped to see her using the Slaughterer's path technique while she was with them.

Seeing Shane's gleaming eyes, Frer wanted to turn around and run away as she felt uncomfortable. However, she didn't want to be a burden or an embarrassment to the Valkyries so she gathered all her courage and continued walking towards Shane and his small team.

Once she arrived in front of him, Olivia bombarded her with several questions at once, which caused her eyes to widen.

If Shane didn't know better he would have thought that Frer was about to cry as she blinked multiple times, and he saw her eyes turn slightly red.

'This Valkyrie unit is really weird' He thought and pulled Olivia back.

"Calm down Olivia! Not everyone is as impatient as you are!"

Having said so, Aimy also noticed how uncomfortable Frer was with Olivia coming so close to her but it was even weirder to see that the small girl that belonged to the Valkyries almost seemed to hide behind Shane.

Furrowing her eyebrows, Aimy took a deep breath as she introduced herself.

"Hello, Frer, I believe, right? My name is Aimy Ash and I'm a 5th Expert stage in both cultivation and physique and a 0-Star Mage."

It was the first time for Shane to hear Aimy introduce herself like this and his assumption that her occupation was a mage, had been correct.

Now that Aimy had introduced herself Olivia immediately followed suit, as she proudly announced.

"Hello my name is Olviia Berg, 0-Star Pugilist. My cultivation rank is at the 5th Expert stage while my Physique has already reached the 7th Expert stage!"

Hearing this, Shane couldn't help but smirk lightly, because he knew that Olivia was proud of her feat to have reached such a high body refining rank, after spending 7 months inside the Primordial Dimensions.

When Frer heard their introduction, her tension loosened up slightly, as she faintly introduced herself.

"H-Hello...My name is Frer and I'm a peak Expert in both body refining and cultivation...1-Star Berserk Valkyrie."

Shane was about to turn around in order to follow the others who also requested help for the worst-case scenario when he heard Frer's introduction.

'1-Star Berserk Valkyrie?' Shane suddenly thought, not sure if he had ever heard of an occupation like this, as he looked at Frer intently.

Sensing his gaze, she flinched for a moment and Shane could only sigh, as he mumbled "Berserk...huh?"

Without asking her anything the four of them decided to follow the others after Aisha was done stating her instructions.

Their group's atmosphere felt a little bit awkward which was mostly because of Frer's behavior, as she avoided everyone's gaze with her utmost effort. This caused Aimy and Olivia to wonder how they were to fight with her against peak awakened beasts if she continued to act like this.

However, their worry was quickly dispelled, because it didn't take long for another large batch of centipedes at the peak awakened rank with high elemental affinities to emerge in front of them with several hundred weaker subterra centipedes at the elite stage behind them.

Gulping down their saliva, Aimy and Olivia grew nervous, as they glanced towards Shane whose eyes were fixated on Frer.

He didn't even seem to bother about the foes in front of him, and only when they diverted their gaze towards Frer too, did they finally notice that something was off.

Instead of the shy and easily frightened girl, Frer was suddenly full of confidence, as she released her bloodlust killing-intent together with her mana.

Enveloping herself and the curved longsword she unsheathed, Frer exerted her movement technique, before pushing herself from the ground.

Widening their eyes, Aimy and Olivia noticed that Frer appeared in front of the first peak awakened centipede only a moment after she disappeared from her prior location.

The two girls didn't even dare to rub their eyes, as they noticed that Frer had already severed the first peak awakened stage beast without much difficulty, as she continued with her killing spree.

Shane smiled brightly, as he imprinted the terrifying bloodlust intertwined with her killing intent into his brain, in order to analyze it later.

However, there was also something else he noticed, which caused him to frown, as he began to shiver involuntarily.

'She can't even control herself anymore?' Seeing that she continued to massacre the beasts, Shane started to wonder how she had held herself back from cutting him in small pieces when he had adamantly asked her to demonstrate the Slaughterer's path technique several dozen times in succession previously.

But after intently looking at her, Shane noticed that Frer's bloodlust seemed to thicken with every centipede she killed and his eyes widened when he figured this out.

Frer seemed to have turned into a completely different person than before and it was only when Aisha suddenly appeared behind her, slapping Frer hard on the back of her head, that she regained her composure.

The bloodlust immediately lessened and Frer looked around innocently, not knowing what was going on, when she saw the ground littered with more than a dozen peak awakened subterra centipede corpses.

Looking at Aisha, she put on a puppy face, and Aisha only rolled her eyes, as she pointed towards Shane and his group.

Slowly walking back, Frer hesitantly said

"Sorry….sometimes I can't control myself with many opponents in front of me…"

Hearing this, Shane's eyes widened because he was immediately reminded of the Slaughterer's path visualization and assumed that it was most likely the technique's fault that led to her odd behavior.

'Is her understanding of the bloodlust wrong or is it inevitable to lose control sometimes?' He asked himself subconsciously, when he heard Olivia shouting out.

"Frer!! Do you have a split personality?"

The question interrupted his train of thought, Shane couldn't help but think 'How did this idiot even survive in the Primordial Dimension until now?', when he slapped his own forehead, trying to deny having such a weird friend.
