Day 34: The Maid Behind Me
Holy Era 6102, Month of the Marsh Dragon, 17th day.
Weather: Sunny

Nine days had now passed since Karl and the others went to the dungeon in order to help the two. But what had happened? I want information…
Though, regardless of what has happened, there is nothing I can do right now but just continue to complete quests here.

Now, I have come to the guild in search of work… But for some reason, the maid from yesterday is standing near the entrance.
What the hell is she doing…
I watched her from the shadows for some time. She appeared to be searching for someone…. Ah, she now called out to an Adventurer who was a similar height to me.
Conradulations! So I am the target then!! …How annoying… Ah, that’s right!!

And so I was able to enter without getting caught.
Currently, I was wearing a robe that covered my head, and I held a staff and walked with a crooked back so that I would look like an elderly person.
Hehehe. That maid is nothing once I disguise myself.
However, standing in front of a quest board like this started to attract attention…
In any case, I’ll tear off the one I’m interested in and head for the counter.

The receptionist nearly shouted in surprise when he saw me, and so I bonked him on the head with my cane.
Be quiet… What are you going to do if she finds me?
Stop looking so stunned, here! I want to accept this quest!!
I don’t know if it was just me, but he looked very tired as he handed me the quest sheet. I then headed for the exit.
It was perfect. Now I just needed to go to a secluded area and take off this disguise!!

…Is what I thought. But as I headed to the forest, for some reason, the maid was following me… How did this happen?
It started from something very small.
When I was walking out the door, I stepped on my robes and tripped over. And the maid helped me.
And then she said that it must be very difficult for a person of my age to finish a quest alone, and she insisted that she would help me. I rejected her offer a total of three times, but she just kept following me… What a busybody.

And that’s how I arrived at this point.
Ah, today, I was gathering the leaves of the Koko tree. As the leaves were split into nine fingers, they were easy to spot.
However, they grew quite deep in the forest… As for their use, it had something to do with magic potions.

That being said, this really was no ordinary maid.
She kept up with me in the forest with ease.
I had thought to lose her at some point… Thankfully, it was a quest that I could finish within the day.

Just before the sun started to set, I finished gathering and was on my way back…when I encountered four goblins… They had the worst timing!!
It was just when the sense of despair was starting to sink in, that the maid began to move… What?
And with a speed that my eyes could not follow, she waved both hands, and then the goblins let out a muffled cry and collapsed… Huh!?
When I looked closer, I saw that they had black needles lodged between their eyes… Uh, were those assassin weapons!?
As I stood there, quite frozen, the maid smiled and said, ‘so many!’ and began to carve off the right ears, which were the proof of the hunt… Uh, this person was really dangerous.

After that, we returned to the guild, and I collected my reward. I honestly didn’t feel alive again until we had parted ways…
I…have a feeling that I won’t be able to escape this one.
