Chapter 8: Guide 08

25TH SEP 2022~SV

I’m the guide

The next second, Wen Qing overruled that thought.

The system had said it very clearly, there is a guide among us.

The guide definitely existed.

Wen Qing lowered his eyes. He kept feeling that there was something important that he and the others were missing.

Gong Yunyun’s sharp voice interrupted his thoughts.

“Yu Xing, what do you mean?”

Gong Yunyun’s slender eyebrows were raised, and her delicate face suddenly turned tart.

She was furious, entirely different from yesterday’s calm analyst. “I’m just expressing my own opinions. Isn’t it the time for everyone to express their ideas and ask questions to find clues?”

“Furthermore, when it comes to the suspicion of being the guide, why does it seem like yours is bigger than mine?”

Gong Yunyun defended her point. “From the beginning, you haven’t been taking part in discussions with everyone seriously, always stirring up the waters and diverting everyone’s attention.

“Are you the guide? Or is it that your god card needs to protect the guide, for example Wen Qing?”

“The system never said that the god card is in the same camp as ordinary humans!”

Yu Xing sneered, his fingers tapping on the table rhythmically.

He nodded. “It makes sense.”

“Let me count,” he tilted his head, raised his hand, and pointed in turn towards Wen Qing, Ji Yu, Si Kong, lazily counting, “One, two, three, four.”

“Four votes.”

“And you……”

Yu Xing pointed towards Zhou Zhou, Li Si Wen, Chen Yiyi, and finally pointed to Gong Yunyun. “One, two, three, four, oh, it’s also four votes.”

“Equal votes,” the corners of his lips pulled up, and he maliciously said, “But they don’t seem to believe your words. Will they vote along with you?”

“Us four, we can throw you out tonight,”

Hearing this, Gong Yunyun’s face changed. She gritted her teeth, “If you vote for me tonight, then wouldn’t it prove that the four of you are a group?”

Yu Xing’s lips raised higher. “So what?”

“After we throw you out, there’s only three ordinary humans left.”

“Four versus three, tsk tsk.”

Gong Yunyun’s face paled. “You, you……”

Seeing her panicked expression, Yu Xing opened his mouth to express his astonishment. “Wow, you actually believed it.”

“You believe this?”

Gong Yunyun’s face turned green and white, staring at Yu Xing. “You, you……”

Yu Xing blinked, and casually said, “But it’s also possible. I purposefully told everyone of my plan to dispel everyone’s suspicions, then later tonight I’ll send you to open the door.”

“En, not bad, not bad,” Yu Xing told himself, nodding.

Gong Yunyun’s head was full of those few words ‘send you to open the door’. She wasn’t the guide, she would only die if she opened the door.

Even though she knew it was very likely that Yu Xing was just speaking nonsense.

But, but what if he wasn’t?

Even if there was only a one in ten thousand chance, she didn’t want to be the sacrifice to prove that the god cards and the guide are in the same camp.

Gong Yunyun looked at Zhou Zhou for help, just in time to face Zhou Zhou’s calculative line of sight.

Gong Yunyun’s heart sank. Zhou Zhou didn’t believe her.

Right, Zhou Zhou also stood on Wen Qing’s side.

Wen Qing had his eyes lowered, when he suddenly felt a cold gaze on him.

He raised his head, but only saw Gong Yunyun turn around, and leave the living room with large strides, heading up the stairs.

When Gong Yunyun left, the living quietened once more. Nobody said anything. There was only the sound of breathing and Chen Yiyi’s sobs.

After a long time, Zhou Zhou sighed, glancing at Yu Xing. “Mr Yu, we’re all students. Our psychological endurance isn’t as good as yours.”

“Please do less and say less words that will lead people to misunderstand. It’s more important to find clues about the guide now.”

Yu Xing uttered a meaningless syllable through his nose.

Neither agreeing nor refusing, extremely perfunctory.

He leaned against the back of the chair lazily. His heels rested on the floor tiles, and with slight force, he rocked the chair back and forth.

Zhou Zhou stared at Yu Xing heavily, as if he saw the prickheads he loathed the most back in high school. Not listening to his directions as the class monitor, and muddling through any work.

He couldn’t order Yu Xing, and he also didn’t have any way to prevent Yu Xing.

Unless……

A vicious thought flashed through his mind.

Zhou Zhou’s face slightly changed, and he abruptly stood up. “I’ll go wash my face to wake up.”

“Let’s find some clues by ourselves first, then gather together tonight before voting.”

When he finished speaking, Zhou Zhou quickly strode upstairs.

Wen Qing watched Zhou Zhou’s hurried back, thinking that he wanted to calmly analyse and investigate by himself. He hesitated for a while, and didn’t follow him yet.

It was nine o’clock in the morning. There were still twelve hours left.

Starting from yesterday, Wen Qing hadn’t eaten anything, which made him unbearably hungry, so he turned to the kitchen to find something to eat.

The fridge had various vegetables and meat, frozen instant food, etc. The system prepared well, but nobody had the time and energy to cook now.

Wen Qing took out some bread and milk, and stuffed some chocolate into his pocket. He walked to the second floor while eating, ready to head to the study to investigate for clues.

He had just walked up to the second floor, when he saw Chen Yiyi standing at the head of the stairs.

She sat on the stairs, both eyes staring straight, like an old and ailing elderly person, waiting for death to come.

Wen Qing frowned and walked towards Chen Yiyi. He put the unopened milk into her embrace, and whispered, “Eat something.”

Chen Yiyi’s eyes slowly turned, staring at his face, as if she wanted to say something but didn’t say it.

Wen Qing pursed his lips, and gave all the white chocolate from his pocket to her. “Eating something sweet will make you feel better.”

“I’ll be going first.”

When he finished speaking, he walked towards the study. When he just walked into the study, Wen Qing’s steps paused.

The pineapple bao from earlier that wasn’t even as big as his hand wasn’t enough to satisfy his hunger. He had wanted to fill his stomach, but he didn’t expect that it would only make him hungrier.

Wen Qing mumbled, “So hungry.”

Should he go downstairs to find something to eat first, or read a book in the study first?

He’d already walked into the study, and he couldn’t tell when he would die.

He would still need to become a hungry ghost if he died.

Wen Qing decided to eat first.

When he turned around, In front of him was Yu Xing’s aggressive and handsome appearance.

Yu Xing came up to him, and casually asked: “Poor little one, where are you hungry?”

He stared at Wen Qing’s lips, blinking, “That part……”

Yu Xing’s light of sight slowly lowered, before stopping and remaining somewhere. “Or is it that part?”

Wen Qing didn’t want to acknowledge him. He went right, thinking of moving around Tu Xing to leave the study, but Yu Xing also stepped to the right, blocking his way.

He went left, Yu Xing also went left.

Yu Xing stepped one foot onto the study’s door frame, blocking the way to leave. His lips lifted up. “Want me to help?”

“Staying away from me will be the best help!”

Wen Qing pursed his lips. He couldn’t think of why Yu Xing was always pestering him.

Suspecting that he was the guide?

“That’s truly a shame,” Yu Xing shrugged, no apology on his face. “I dislike helping out others the most.”

Wen Qing: “……”

Unable to leave the study, Wen Qing turned around and walked into the study.

The study didn’t have anyone else, just walls full of books.

Wen Qing directly walked to the Chinese bookshelf, raising his head.

“History of Eastern Mythology”

“The Development of Myths in China”

“Origin of Eastern Mythology”

…………

“Western Myths and Legends”

Seeing a book on the West among the piles of East, Wen Qing didn’t think much of it, and reached out to grab the book.

The book “Western Myths and Legends” was placed very high. Wen Qing couldn’t get it even when he was on his tiptoes.

“You really don’t need my help?”

Yu Xing’s voice sounded behind him once again. As if the person who had just said that he hated helping others the most wasn’t him.

“No need!”

Wen Qing walked to the desk and tried to lift the wooden chair.

However, who knew what the wooden chair was made of. It was unusually heavy, and Wen Qing couldn’t move it at all. He exhaled, and dragged the chair over to the side of the bookshelf.

Wen Qing took off his sneakers, stepping onto the chair barefooted.

Yu Xing’s gaze involuntarily fell on his feet. His feet were very white, and light blue and purple veins spread across his small ankles, as if they would break with a slight snap.

The next second, those two feet stepped onto the floor. The floor seemed a little cold, and the smooth and fair toes curled up slightly.

Yu Xing unexpectedly took a step forward.

Noticing the book in Wen Qing’s embrace, he sneered and reached out to seize it.

The book that Wen Qing had painstakingly gotten was gone before he could feel enthusiastic.

Before he could react, another book was stuffed into his hand.

Wen Qing looked down and saw that it was “Greek Mythology”.

Yu Xing curved his lips, looked at Wen Qing who had a stunned expression, and slowly said, “I like your things.”

“I like you holding my things even more.”

Wen Qing was dumbfounded. This, was this a primary school student? Still stealing things?

Not right, primary school students probably wouldn’t deliberately steal other people’s books!

“Who wants your things!”

Wen Qing was so angry that he smashed into the book.

Yu Xing turned and easily avoided it. Seeing that Wen Qing was about to grab “Western Myths and Legends”, he raised his eyebrows and stood there. He leaned on the bookshelf lazily, and raised his hand holding the book high.

It was a height that Wen Qing couldn’t reach.

Wen Qing felt that Yu Xing was taunting his height, and his face flushed. “You, do you know what you look like?!”

Yu Xing blinked. “Like what? Like your baby?”

Wen Qing: “Like a primary school chicken!”[1]

No, he was one!

Yu Xing didn’t know what a primary school chicken meant, but it was obviously a curse word.

He originally thought Wen Qing would say he was the guide. He never thought he would only superficially curse.

Yu Xing tilted his head, curiously staring at Wen Qing. “Don’t you suspect that I’m the guide?”

“Actually……” he dragged out the end of his sentence, and slowly said, “I am the guide.”

The author has something to say:

Wen Qing: You’re rubbish!
