Chapter 6 The Power of Enchantment

In the end, I arrived at the inn town of Rio at 4:00 p.m.

After completing the formalities, I enter the town and search for an inn.

A cheap inn would be unsafe, and it’s highly possible for me to be caught in trouble because of my appearance (a small build handsome young man), so I decided to choose the most expensive inn in this town.

One silver place per night is painful, but I’m still weak, so it can’t be helped.

I had dinner a little early and checked my status in my room.

Jink (14)

Level: 15(6/150)

Job: Adventurer

HP: 150/150

MP: 43/43

Skills: Swordsmanship 11, Spearmanship 1, Body Strengthening 27, Enchantment 3, Alchemy 2, Appraisal 7, Etiquette 3, Recovery Magic 1

Gift: Item Box (Extra Large)

Others: Title <Nonland’s Outcast>, Aptitude list

My level has gone up by 6!

In this world, between soldiers with actual battle experience and those without, the soldiers with actual battle experience are overwhelmingly stronger. …… It may be because of the system in which you get more experience when you defeat monsters.

As for skills, it seems that only skills that were used increased in level. The appraisal didn’t rise that much, probably because I didn’t use it often enough.

…… Appraisal 7 is enough for the time being, and since time and MP are finite, I’ll give priority to raising swordsmanship and body strengthening.

…… And enchantment as well.

…… To be honest, I don’t want to do it because I’m tired from the marathon and the battles, but if I don’t do it, I might change job to a corpse….

The route out of the country was decided yesterday.

Among them, the place I have to be careful the most is the path from Count Belche’s territory to Count Morbitz’s territory.

There are three places I have to pass through where monsters are rampant.

Moreover, it seems that even an adventurer would take four days on foot, and even if I use my enchanted equipment to strengthen my body, I still have to camp at least one night.

So, I need to raise my enchantment level as much as possible and strengthen my weapon!

…… It’s been 4 hours since I started training my enchantment, and it reached level 6. It was quite fast, probably because my life is at stake or because of my aptitude.

…… I’m planning to leave early in the morning tomorrow, so let’s sleep now….

The next day, I left the town as soon as the gate opened at five in the morning.

The distance from the inn town of Rio to Count Berche’s territory is even greater than yesterday.

Today, I’m going to throw the monsters I kill into the item box because the gate will be closed at sunset if I take my time dismantling them.

Really, I’m glad I have an item box.

After two hours of running at a high speed while being wary of the surroundings, I found a monster other than a goblin for the first time.

Orc

Rank: D

Skills: Polearms 11, Body Strengthening 29

An orc, huh….

It’s a standard fantasy monster.

It also looks like the one that appears in a game.

…… Its body strengthening is a bit higher than mine, but I have my enchanted equipment, so I will be okay if I keep my composure.

Thinking so, I slashed at the orc with my sword.

The orc tried to avoid it, but it seemed to be unable to completely avoid it and suffered a shallow wound.

It seems that it’s not an opponent I can defeat by just swinging around my sword like I did yesterday, so I take my time to inflict many wounds while telling myself to be calm.

…… The orc is now covered in blood.

Its movement has become much worse than at the beginning.

Thinking that it’s about time to finish it off, I close the distance and cut off its left arm.

Then, I stab its neck while it’s shaken.

When I checked it with appraisal, it became Orc (Corpse).

It seems that I was more nervous than I thought that I felt like losing strength when I thought it was over.

After all, the tension and fatigue of a battle in which you may lose your life are very different from a mock battle.

It’s out of the question to sit down and rest in this place with the strong smell of blood, so I hurriedly threw the orc into the item box and left this place.

After about ten minutes of running, I found an open space where several groups of adventurers were taking a rest, so I decided to take a rest as well.

If I remember correctly, this area is a place where several roads converge.

When I was eating some diced steaks after drinking a potion, a group of adventurers called out to me.

「Hey, lad, do you have an item box?」

Well, I don’t have anything to carry with me except my sword, so it seems that it’s easy to guess if I’m eating steak in a place like this.

They don’t seem to be bad people from the appraisal results, so I guess it should be fine.

「Well, yes….」

「Is that so!? …… Actually, we encountered an ogre, so we don’t have many potions left. …… We’re willing to pay more than the market price, so if you can afford it, could you sell some to us?」

「Well… I can sell you 10 normal potions and 3 high potions.」

「That helps! …… How about 3 silver coins for ten potions and three high potions?」

「Okay, I’m fine with that amount.」

I exchange potions for money.

They paid me properly, so I guess I can rest easy for now.

「Thanks! We are a D rank party, 『Dragon’s Breath』. Let us treat you to a drink the next time we meet!」

After saying so, they headed for the road to the inn town of Rio.

They were nice adventurers… but it’s probably because they didn’t realize I was Jink.

Well then, now I’ve recovered my HP, I’d better get going!

I left the place and ran again toward Count Belche’s territory.

On the way, I encountered not only goblins but also slimes, kobolds, and orcs, but I was able to defeat them easily.

Today, I threw all the monsters I defeated into my item box, so I’m making much better progress than I did yesterday!

Full speed ahead!
