In the northern suburbs of Yan City, a golf club.

Chu Yinlong cut off the call and said to the person sitting next to him: “I’m sorry, it’s a personal matter.”

“It’s okay, there’s nothing important here.” With a refined smile, Qin Xiao took a sip from his teacup.

Seeing that the other party did not get up to continue golfing, Chu Yinlong simply sat down to rest. He opened his mouth and found a topic at random: “I thought Mr. Qin wanted to invest in a film or television drama, which is why you asked to meet.”

Qin Xiao put down the teacup. “Although there is very little cooperation between our families, I also know you don’t care about business matters. If I really wanted to invest, I would, of course, contact Longqi Entertainment directly. I asked you to meet today just to get to know the new movie emperor. We are the same age, and I’ve watched your movies since I was a child.”

Chu Yinlong smiled politely and didn’t answer.

He didn’t believe that someone like Qin Xiao would ask to meet him just because he wanted to “get to know” each other. Under normal circumstances, even if Qin Xiao wants to meet him, the two should be introduced to each other at some social gathering first.

Qin Xiao was not embarrassed at all, and continued calmly, “I remember you debuted as a child star, and when you were eight years old, you played the role of a demon hunter in-training in a movie. Oh, I also remember that ‘demon’ you wanted to catch was the heroine of the film. Who knows how many people were fascinated by her beauty… but later, it’s a pity…”

“Yes, it’s a pity.”

Chu Yinlong agreed lightly.

Qin Xiao got up, picked up a club from the shelf, and continued: “If she hadn’t had that scandal, she probably wouldn’t have been forced to disappear. I never expected that in the entertainment industry, even such a beautiful actress would use such a method to gain a position…”

As he said that, he chuckled: “Unfortunately, even if she gave birth to a son to the rich businessman later, she still couldn’t revive herself.”

Frowning slightly, Chu Yinlong’s tone slightly darkened: “I’m sorry, I’m not interested in Mr. Qin’s family affairs.”

“Really?” Qin Xiao looked back.

Chu Yinlong smiled, got up, and picked up another golf club. “Let’s play.”

When passing by Qin Xiao, he heard the other side casually whisper: “What’s that actress called again? Ah, it seems to be… Jiang Ruo.”

A month later.

Jiang Dao sat in the driver’s seat excitedly, adjusted the seat and mirrors, touched the gear, and sighed in disappointment.

In the co-pilot seat, the assistant Xiao Yang was trembling: “Why, why don’t I drive?!”

Jiang Dao shot him a serious glance. “Don’t worry, Brother Yang, my driving skills are very good.”

Xiao Yang obviously didn’t believe him. “You just got your driver’s license!”

Jiang Dao ignored him, started the car on his own, and muttered in a low voice: “Ah, automatic transmission is boring…”

He stepped on the accelerator, and the car left the DMV in a graceful arc and merged into the main road.

Half an hour later, the two arrived safely in the parking lot of Chu Yinlong’s studio.

After parking the car, Jiang Dao turned to look at Xiao Yang. “Look, I told you, my driving skills are very good.”

With a pale face, the assistant silently released the handle that he was clutching the entire journey, and secretly wiped the palm of his hand with the corner of his clothes expressionlessly.

Assistant Xiao Yang’s expression did not return to normal until they entered the conference room upstairs.

In the conference room, many people had already arrived. Chu Yinlong sat at the farthest end from the door, raised his eyes to see Jiang Dao, and raised his hand to gesture around at the seats. “Sit first, we’re still waiting for some people to arrive…”

Suddenly, he frowned: “Xiao Yang, what happened?”

The assistant’s face was still white, but his voice was calm: “It’s nothing, all’s well.”

Chu Yinlong nodded, but his eyes fell on Jiang Dao’s face.

Jiang Dao sat down at the table and admitted with a smile: “I drove the car over. Maybe it scared him.”

Hearing this, Chu Yinlong was also taken aback. “You dared drive on the highway as soon as you got your driver’s license?”

The distance from the DMV to the studio isn’t that close, and one has to pass through a roundabout and two of the busiest intersections in Yan City. Although the morning rush hour has passed, the road is usually very busy even during off-peak hours.

“It’s not hard.” Jiang Dao replied smoothly. “And there are speed limits everywhere. I abided by the law, so there’s actually no danger.”

As for how he drove under the speed limit, shuttling through traffic, and even jumping the queue… There is no need to say such details.

Sure enough, even without describing the details, Chu Yinlong was still full of disapproval. “It’s too risky for you to do this.”

When he finished speaking, everyone at the table turned to look at him with the same surprised disbelief in their eyes.

A senior screenwriter and long-time collaborator with Chu Yinlong couldn’t help clicking his tongue. “In my lifetime, I can actually hear the words ‘too risky’ from Xiao Chu’s mouth… What’s the matter? Filming action scenes aren’t life-threatening?”

Jiang Dao couldn’t help laughing.

Chu Yinlong… was speechless.

Soon, all the cast and crew arrived, and the first script reading meeting of “Operation Red Owl” officially began.

All the actors who were present in the movie were actors with notable roles in the film. The protagonist Wei Jie was played by Chu Yinlong, and Wei Jie’s teammate Xu Zhou is a newcomer who just graduated from the academy. Wei Jie’s wife and daughter, Xu Zhou’s fiancee, and other police officers rounded out the protagonist’s side.

On the villain’s side, the person who plays the crime boss is an old actor over fifty years old named Yao Yuhua. Despite his role, his aura was not at all angry or arrogant. He has two important confidants, one is his godson, and the other is Jess, the “personal bodyguard” that Jiang Dao will play.

When Yao Yuhua saw Jiang Dao, he felt that he wasn’t suitable – his looks are too beautiful, young, and delicate, and isn’t suitable for the villain’s boss’ bodyguard. However, Chu Yinlong chose the actors himself, so he didn’t say anything.

Until Jiang Dao read out his first line during the reading – Yao Yuhua sat up straight, and his eyes became sharper.

Jess is silent most of the time in the plot, and his lines are more concentrated in the torture and interrogation scene after he captures Xu Zhou alive.

“Speak, who else?”

“Don’t want to say?”

“I’ll make you speak.”

There were only a few simple lines, and the words were not long, but somehow they came out of Jiang Dao’s beautiful face full of chilling gloom.

Chu Yinlong coughed lightly and knocked on the table: “Jing Yu, it’s your turn.”

Jing Yu was the young actor picked to play Xu Zhou. Hearing Chu Yinlong’s words, he was instantly shocked and hurriedly read the script. Fortunately, after all, he is an excellent actor from a professional background. With his solid foundation, there was nothing wrong with reading his lines.

It’s a pity that since he followed Jiang Dao, the undercover police officer who “would rather die than yield” appeared a little weak.

“Stop, this…” The screenwriter frowned and interrupted, “I’ll think about this again. We may have to change it. What does Xiao Chu think?”

Chu Yinlong pondered for a moment, then shook his head: “I can’t think of anything for the time being. You can try and change it first. If it doesn’t work, then wait until filming and see the results.”

So, the interrogation part was temporarily skipped, and everyone continued.

Jiang Dao’s second main speaking scene, the final hand-to-hand battle in the jungle, was a confrontation with Chu Yinlong – Jess was left alone to block the protagonist and finally died at the hands of the protagonist.

“Officer Wei, your hands are also stained with blood.”

“You personally killed Xu Zhou yourself.”

“Do you think you can go back?”

Chu Yinlong stared at Jiang Dao’s face, gritted his molars and sneered: “Long-winded!”

After that, there was a silent fight. The protagonist stabbed a dagger into Jess’s heart. He flipped a page and looked up at Jiang Dao again.

Jiang Dao was also reading his last line at this time.

A hoarse screeching sound came from his throat, and he curled the corners of his mouth, his voice sounded like a bone-biting poison from the abyss: “You can’t escape this hell.”

Chu Yinlong slowly exhaled, spread the script on the table, and suddenly smiled.

Yao Yuhua also smiled: “It’s rare, Xiao Chu finally met a young man who can suppress his momentum.”

Seeing that both of them were very relieved, the screenwriter had a headache.

“No, this doesn’t work.” He didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. “Xiao Dao has to restrain himself a little bit. As a bodyguard with a few lines, don’t talk about suppressing the undercover, he’s almost caught up to the boss… What’s the matter, does he want to usurp the throne? Ah, I have to change it again…”

“Ah?” Jiang Dao was startled, and then he laughed, “Why don’t you see if this works?”

After speaking, he cleared his throat, restrained his momentum, and recited his lines again.

The crowd was silent.

After a long time, Yao Yuhua sighed: “Although it’s not bad…”

The screenwriter shook his head helplessly: “But I always feel that there is something missing.”

In the end, Chu Yinlong made the final decision: “Let’s wait until we start filming… Continue for now.”

The reading session lasted for nearly four hours. When it finally ended, everyone was relieved. Seeing that it was almost two o’clock in the afternoon, Chu Yinlong simply took everyone out for dinner to help the crew bond.

Jing Yu and Jiang Dao are about the same age, and both energetic in nature. As soon as he entered the box, he sat next to Jiang Dao, his eyes shining with admiration. “You’re amazing! I heard that you can fight. I just searched online – did you really fight with Brother Long in a variety show?”

Jiang Dao laughed: “I was beaten.”

Jing Yu didn’t think so. “He’s so powerful, it’s amazing you even dared fight …Wow, it’s no wonder you were so, so…” He couldn’t find the adjective for a while, so he skipped it, “It made my scalp tingle.”

At the end, he asked again: “Oh yes, which school do you belong to?”

“I didn’t go to a film and television school.” Jiang Dao didn’t care and revealed his past. “I came out of the draft.”

“…Ah.” Jing Yu was a little embarrassed.

“You searched for me on the internet, but didn’t find it?” Jiang Dao asked with a smile.

Jing Yu raised his hand and scratched his head, a little embarrassed: “I didn’t pay attention… I usually don’t pay much attention to the comments online. When I searched just now, I only saw a few topics such as you and Brother Long fighting on a variety show.”

After speaking, he hurriedly expressed his position: “You have good command over your lines. So what if you were drafted as an idol? I graduated from acting school, but even I was suppressed by you. No one cares about a hero’s background, only his strength!”

Jiang Dao stared at Jing Yu without saying a word.

Jing Yu subconsciously looked away, but he was still a little nervous from Jiang Dao’s gaze. He glanced quickly and found that Jiang Dao had been staring at him, his cheeks blushing: “Why, why are you looking at me like this?”

Jiang Dao smiled and finally turned his eyes away.

Since he transmigrated into this book and was forced to enter the entertainment industry, except for the director Li Cheng and President Liu, who he had never met, the rest of the people he met were unexpectedly nice. It was worlds apart from the book which is full of intrigue and everyone is wearing a mask.

So, is he just lucky, or… is the terrible description in the book just a tiny corner of this extremely narrow circle?

I see Jing Yu, and my mind translates it to “goldfish”
