Ancient Eden

Chapter 67

In the morning Mu Qing thought of a reaping hook.

Even if there was no iron reaping hook, a reaping hook made of bone should still be more efficient than the straight and plate knife that they were using. So, she was now looking for animal bones that could be polished and shaped into a reaping hook.

Every time a prey was slaughtered here, the remaining bones were not discarded randomly, but were piled up in a corner of the settlement. Mu Qing rummaged through it for a while, picked a bone she liked, and planned to wait for Li Mang to come back at night to ask him to work on it. Tomorrow, she would try it to see how it worked.

Chapter 67

(22.2)

After a day of work, Mu Qing followed the women to the stream to wash off the sweat and dust, before walking back to the settlement with her flip-flops on. She waited for Li Mang to bring back her Swiss knife and give it back to her.

When he went out this morning, she deliberately made a slash gesture on her palm in front of him  and imitated the sound of the knife. She had asked for it once before, but he ignored it. Mu Qing believed that he was going to listen to her this time.

When Li Mang returned, he brought back her Swiss knife. He seemed to want to stay with her to see what she was going to do with it. But he couldn’t resist Mu Qing’s iron hands in velvet gloves and could only yield to her, he looked at the shape she had drawn on the ground and took the bone she picked outside to go polish it and transform its shape, but his expression looked a little depressed.

As soon as he left, Mu Qing took off her shirt. She was really reluctant to cut the only piece of clothes she had left but remembering the terrifying appearance of the women here when they menstruated, she felt that it was worth it.

Even if Li Mang saw it, he wouldn’t know what she was doing, but making a menstrual pad in front of him made her feel a little uncomfortable, so she first acted coquettishly to make him leave, and then glared at him to chase him away.

Mu Qing used the scissors on the Swiss knife to cut a piece of fabric the width of a palm from the hem of the shirt. She then put her shirt back on and looked down at herself, fortunately, the length of the cloth was still below her waist. Using a bone needle and threads, she sewed a long sanitary napkin, and she made a slipknot at the opening, so that it could be opened and closed. That way, she could fill it with grass ash later. Then, on the four corners, she sewed fine ties, and then her big work could be considered done. Although it looked rudimentary, it was probably fine to use.

When she considered the problem of changing and washing it, seeing that there was still a surplus of fabric, she made another one. After finishing, she was afraid that Li Mang would be curious after seeing these, so she folded them up and hid them under the vine pillow she had made herself.

When Li Mang returned, it was completely dark. The bone reaping hook he had sharpened was really not bad, and the edge also seemed very sharp to the touch. Mu Qing was very happy and stood on tiptoe to wrap her arms around his neck and kiss the tip of his nose.

Li Mang looked a little surprised, but he laughed and hugged her hips and lifted her up to kiss her back. But instead of kissing her face, he rubbed his face on her chest through her clothes and kissed her breasts. Mu Qing felt a little itchy because of him, and she laughed and avoided him. The two tussled for a moment but then she suddenly remembered something, and hurriedly patted him on the shoulder to signal to let her go.

She picked up the knife from the animal skin, pulled Li Mang’s hand, lifted the curtain, and made him sit on a large wooden pole at the door of the hut. Li Mang was a little puzzled, but he still sat there obediently without moving.

On the open space, there were still a few piles of dry grass that were burning to repel mosquitoes, most of the people had gone back inside their hut to rest, while the people left were lying outside in the open. Besides, they were on the border of the settlement here, so they didn’t attract much attention from others.

The moon had now climbed over the top of the trees, casting a clear and shallow light. A few days after coming here, Mu Qing found that the moonlight here was much brighter than she had ever seen before, as long as it was not a crescent moon and the night was clear, the moonlight was enough for people to see things clearly.

Mu Qing raised Li Mang’s hand and looked at it under the moonlight. His nails were thick and sharp and when she first saw it, she was startled. The scratch marks on her lower abdomen they had left had still not faded to this day. That was the masterpiece he did in the beginning.

Later, when he found out that he had wounded her, he seemed a little remorseful, and after that when he touched her body, he never scratched her again.

But every time she looked at his nails, they were as unpleasant as his messy hair, so she took advantage of the fact that she had the scissors back, and intended to trim his nails.
