Edge of the Apocalypse

Chapter 47: Impact Barrier

In the clear stream, a cod swim through the water. To the east, morning light jumped over the peaks and threw golden light into the stream and the surrounding valleys. The cod chased after the light and moved towards the light. This was the instinct of life. However, when it reached an area where the current was relatively gentle, a warning sign suddenly appeared. The cod waved its tail, wanting to swim away, but it was already too late.

A sharpened wooden spear suddenly pierced into the stream and accurately nailed the cod. A fair and slender hand gripped the wooden spear and easily lifted the cod tail. When the cod tail was thrown ashore, it was still jumping about. At the side, the other of its kind no longer had the strength, only barely spitting out water bubbles.

Lucy clapped her hands and swiftly built a small stone fortress out of the gravel she had picked up. Hollow beneath the stone fortress, it could be stuffed with withered branches to start a fire. This way, the flames wouldn't be too obvious. Moreover, most of the heat and heat would be confined to the stone barricade. A wooden shelf would be erected on top of the barricade, and the fish would be removed from its organs, cut into fish slices, and placed on top of the barricade to be smoked and roasted using the temperature of the stone barricade itself. It would not be a waste of a delicious meal in the wilderness.

After putting the fillets on the simple grill, Lucy washed her hands in the stream. She walked back to the grilled fish and carefully flipped the fillets to prevent them from being burnt. The cod gradually gave off a fragrance, and if Lucy had been drooling with greed, she would have been a little worried now.

The pursuit that night was originally quite smooth. If nothing unexpected happened, even Ans could be killed. However, who knew that Ans had already constructed a circuit to activate the engraving, causing them to fail. After evacuating, they hid for a day. Continuous battles caused Allen to suffer further injuries. Especially in the end, Alan used all of his strength to break through a crack in Ans' ability, causing all the wounds the teenager had suffered in the battle with the Berserk Wolf to be torn apart.

When Lucy was cleaning his wounds again, Alan fainted because of his serious injuries and the fact that he had almost used up all of his Origin Energy. It was not until 12 hours later that he woke up. After Alan woke up, they immediately left their hiding place, and then came to the valley to rest for another night. Now that Alan's injuries had improved and his Origin Energy had almost recovered, they still had no chance of winning.

The ability of a sealer, even a beginner sealer, to use seals had already distinguished them from Origin Energy practitioners. That night, Ans proved it. That strange energy vortex restricted their movements, and even if the final explosion did not take their lives, it would still cause them serious injuries, which was no different from blowing them up on the spot.

Originally, their victory was in their hands. Now, the future is unpredictable.

Lucy flipped the cod fillet in a sullen mood, and the sound of footsteps came to her ears. She raised her head and saw Alan return to his defensive light armor and walk over with Kuang Tu in his hand. The left chest radiograph of the defensive light armor had already caved in and cracked. That was Lusen's masterpiece. The fatty counterattacked before he died, his fist strength shocking. If it weren't for the light armor protecting him, Alan would have been seriously injured. From this, it could be seen that the fatty was troublesome. It was not that Alan had made a prompt decision that night to kill Lu Sen first.

Otherwise, if Fatty were to join forces with an engraved Anse, Allen and Anse would not even have a chance of winning.

"How are your injuries?" Lucy asked.

Alan stretched his arm and nodded, "Almost done. Are you ready to eat your roasted fillets? I'm starving."

Lucy picked up one of the daggers and handed it to Alan. Seeing that he was enjoying it, Lucy couldn't help but say, "It's hard for you to eat it."

"Why can't I eat?" Alan had already eaten one piece of fish quickly and was not afraid of the heat. He reached out and touched the other piece.

"Have you forgotten about Anse? He's already a sealer!" Lucy said unhappily.

Alan began to destroy the second piece of fish. His mouth was full of oil, but he did not forget to say, "So what if he is an immortal? He can always be killed. Now we must fill up our stomachs and nourish our spirits before we have the strength to deal with him."

"Are you always so optimistic?" Lucy rolled her eyes, as if she had no idea how troublesome an engraver was to them now.

Alan revealed a row of snow-white teeth and smiled. "When I realized that pessimism and sadness couldn't change the truth, I knew that I had only one option."

Lucy looked at Ellen's smile and felt a trace of sadness. What exactly did he have to go through to reach his current level of enlightenment when he was about his age?

"Hey, if you don't eat it, I'll sweep it all away!"

Perhaps influenced by Alan's positive emotions, Lucy also felt that Ann was not so troublesome. As soon as his mood improved, the greedy insect in his stomach started to cry out. Seeing that there weren't many cod fillets left, the girl cried out in alarm. She picked up a dagger and sent it to her mouth.

After a pleasant breakfast, the two of them packed up and moved their belongings again.

In the afternoon, a tall and thin figure appeared in the valley. In the end, he stood where Allen and the others were eating in the morning. The stone fortress was still there, and there was a faint lingering warmth in the hole in the stone. Ans laughed, "How far can you guys escape?"

He clapped his hands, circled around, and found some traces on the nearby grass slope. He tracked them down and found two pairs of footprints. Then, the scattered traces led Ans to a forest several hundred meters away from the valley. The forest was very quiet. The afternoon sunlight left behind fine spots of light in the forest. The fragrance of vegetation floated in the air.

Ans tracked the traces left behind by Alan and the other two and hit a tree hole. There seemed to be a long breathing sound coming from the tree hole. Anse sneered and pulled out his revolver, firing several shots into the tree hole.

The sound of gunfire startled the birds, and the sound of gunfire came from the hole in the tree. Two dots of fluorescence lit up. Just as Ans felt that something was wrong, a berserk wolf suddenly rushed out of the tree hole and pounced at Ans with wild cries.

"Motherf*cker, you've been fooled!" Ans shouted angrily as he nimbly dodged the Berserk Wolf's attack and shot it down in the head.

Just as he was gasping for breath, a wild beast's low roar suddenly sounded from behind him. An Si turned his head and his expression became a little ugly. At least seven or eight Sword Tooth Berserk Wolves had emerged from behind the trees. They were obviously attracted by the cries of their peers. There must be a wolf nest nearby. Otherwise, there wouldn't be so many wolves appearing at the same time. Hateful is that, after 24 hours, the nanorobots used to expel the dangerous species have been expelled from the body. Right now, these berserk wolves weren't afraid of Anse, they just wanted to tear him apart!

"Looks like a gunshot?" Lucy looked up and listened.

Allen grinned and said, "Looks like my little decoration is working. Now Ann should be heading into the Wolf Nest."

"I wish he would bite me to death." Lucy said sincerely.

"That's impossible. At most, we'll create some trouble for him. We'll have to rely on ourselves to get rid of him. Well, that's it." Alan kicked away a few rubble, and in front of him was a deep cave.

This was a mountainous area south of the valley. The hillside was undulating, the mountain paths were complex, and there were many forks. It was like a labyrinth. Alan chose this place so much so that even Lucy didn't know what he was up to.

Alan had already drilled into the cave, which was ten meters deep. It was very dry inside, and the sunlight passed through the cracks in the mountains above, leaving behind beams of light. Allen circled around the end of the cave and sat down after confirming that it wasn't the nest of some dangerous species.

"Are you planning to hide here?" Lucy asked.

Alan nodded and said, "At least for now, we have to hide. Also, what I'm going to do next, I can't be disturbed by Anse, so I have to hide temporarily."

"What do you want to do?" Lucy crouched down and asked angrily.

Pointing to himself, Allen said, "I'm going to try to build a circuit. If it goes well, I can activate the engraving, so I don't have to be afraid of Anse even if I fight him head-on."

When Lucy heard this, she was delighted and put her hand on his shoulder. "You already have nine vortexes? Good fellow, don't tell me. If I had known, I wouldn't have been so worried."

Alan smiled bitterly and said, "I only found out this morning. Looks like Ann's night was enough to stimulate me. It created a vortex."

"That's enough. With nine vortexes of Origin Energy, you can construct the first circuit. Hurry up and do it. I'll keep an eye on you." Lucy pulled out her automatic pistol and shook it.

"I'll try my best." Alan said. He was different from ordinary people. Even though he already had nine vortexes, he still had to break through the first barrier of Origin Energy. Otherwise, he would not be able to construct a genetic circuit.

Lucy did not know that he still had this checkpoint, so she patted him on the shoulder happily and said, "Do your best."

With that, she walked out of the cave to keep an eye on Alan.

Alan took a deep breath. Although Hughton had said that it was best not to use that method, it was no longer up to Alan to choose. He had no choice but to burn the boat and risk everything!

He closed his eyes and relaxed his body. Just like when he lit the fire seed that day, he used his breathing to precipitate his mind and use his heart to feel the Origin Energy in his body. Soon, Alan could feel them. The vortex of Origin Energy was like a spinning nebula. It emitted light and heat. Alan could feel the warmth as the tip of his will swept past them.

He began to circulate the vortexes between his blood vessels. After nine rounds of repetition, Allen could feel a faint sense of expansion in his body. This was a sign that his blood vessels had completely relaxed due to the stimulation of Origin Energy. This was just a warm-up. After warming up, he got to the point. He began to consciously push the Origin Energy vortexes to chase and collide with each other. As these vortexes flew, their tails pulled out faint light tails like tiny meteors.

Under Allen's will, the origin vortex began to collide. Every time they collided, Alan's entire body would tremble. After nine consecutive shocks, the vortexes almost collided. From the small meteor, they turned into a comet wrapped in flames, pushing out a long tail of flames at the tail and rushing towards the location of the heart.

The critical moment had finally arrived.

When the comet smashed into his heart, Alan immediately felt the existence of the invisible barrier. When the two collided with each other, it was like a raging wave hitting an incomparably hard rock. Although the reef was constantly shaken by the huge waves, it did not immediately shatter.

As for Alan, his chest suddenly hurt and he opened his mouth to spit out a mouthful of blood!
