Chapter 56 Blooming Rose

Within the cage, Lu Shiyu faced the Boulder Boar, a beast several times her size, alone. The warm eyes that had gazed at Xiang Ning instantly turned cold without a hint of emotion in them. Even the unintelligent Boulder Boar snapped to its senses, sensing a terrifying threat. It uncomfortably paced back and forth, eyeing the slender human.

Thud!

Lu Shiyu attacked first with great speed, reaching thirty or forty meters per second. With both hands tightly gripping her sickle, she swung it down with a piercing whoosh.

“Fatal Strike!” she roared, bringing the blade down toward its head.

The Boulder Boar was stunned, instinctively contracting its neck and turning its back to her. The ringing thud of two hard objects colliding sounded as the combat sickle slammed into the Boulder Boar’s posterior plates, causing sparks to fly as a piece fell off.

“Oh my god, she’s powerful!”

“Is she a tier one, six-star martial artist? Or even stronger?”

The crowd gasped at her strength, in awe of the delicate-looking girl who had exploded with such might.

“Oh no, she angered the boar.”

“Be careful!”

After the attack, the Boulder Boar had been provoked. With a roar, it charged with its two-meter-long tusks aimed right at Lu Shiyu. If she were struck, her body might be split in half. The guys’ chests tightened.

Her next move made their jaws drop. A black dagger suddenly levitated in mid-air, then flew and lodged itself right in the boar’s eye. It lurched sideways in great pain, then slammed against the wall of the cage.

The dull thud frightened many students.

“She’s a spiritual cultivator, and a strong one, too. With the speed and power of that dagger, she’s at least tier one, six-star,” Liu Ruoxue analyzed. She specialized as a spiritual cultivator and was particularly sensitive to Mental Power.

Xiang Ning nodded. If Lu Shiyu was a tier one, six-star spiritual cultivator, it meant she was likely the strongest of the new students in terms of Mental Power. They still didn’t know her strength as a martial artist, though based on the strength she had displayed earlier, she was no weakling. Xiang Ning rubbed his chin, privately making a decision.

In searing pain, the Boulder Boar charged around in a crazed manner with Lu Shiyu barely dodging it several times by the skin of her teeth. It was dangerous in that cage. However, those with a trained eye could see how agile she was in the not-so-wide cage. It looked dangerous, but it was effortless for her.

Perhaps the Boulder Boar was exhausted, or fainting from the collisions, for it greatly slowed down and glared at her as it heavily panted, its eyes glued to her as if it couldn’t wait to kill her. In the end, it used up its final bit of strength to charge at her, much faster than it had before. It came as an unexpected surprise, based on its past abilities.

“Oh no, the Boulder Boar just had a breakthrough!” someone yelled. Under its extreme rage, it had suddenly broken through to tier one, seven-star. And it was no common breakthrough, either—it was a beast breaking through from mid-stage tier one to late-stage tier one. The improvement in its strength was noticeable.

However, despite its increase in speed, there was no fear in Lu Shiyu’s icy eyes. She slowly raised her combat sickle and said in a low voice, “Death Slash!”

The sickle glinted as she dodged the Boulder Boar’s attack at an impossible angle, her sickle hooking onto its head. She leapt, landing on its head in a half-squat, then pulled the sickle upward. The boar’s knees gave out, then it collapsed as Lu Shiyu leapt off its back.

The crowd was stunned! Lu Shiyu stood before them with a few drops of fresh blood on her cheek, yet it didn’t ruin her beauty. She looked like a blooming rose, a goddess of war.

The crowd was in awe of her technique. All the battles so far had been fierce and violent, yet her movements were, in contrast, graceful and nimble. The boar hadn’t even touched the corner of her sleeve.

Someone started applauding. Indeed, this girl had killed a tier one, six-star beast that had broken through to seven-star at the last minute without sustaining any injuries. She was ranked in the top five for sure.

Lu Shiyu walked out of the cage with sweat beading on her forehead. Although the fight had seemed quick and effortless, the trained eye knew the calculations and effort required to make killing look so natural.

Many guys clamored forward to worship her as they saw her bloody, sweaty face. The girls rolled their eyes; this attention used to be theirs.

Lu Shiyu’s brows slightly furrowed in the face of the towels and bottled water offered, her delicate features screwed together with impatience. Anyone would be annoyed at the chaotic clamoring of bottled water and towels in their face. However, because Xiang Ning was there, she couldn’t rage at them. Just as she was helplessly staring, Xiang Ning pushed the guys to the side and reached out to pull her from the irritating human wall. Many who were pushed aside were irritated, but backed away when they saw the look in Xiang Ning’s eyes, only able to swallow their anger.

Xiang Ning ignored them. They were just strangers, anyway. Now that Lu Shiyu had passed the test, she was officially part of the team. They were comrades.

Back with the team, Liu Ruoxue thoughtfully passed Lu Shiyu a handkerchief. She didn’t decline, grinning as she took it to wipe the sweat and blood off her face. She turned to Xiang Ning in anticipation of his reaction, blinking as if she was waiting for something.

Li Zimo was stunned. If he recalled correctly, Lu Shiyu had just arrived today. How was Xiang Ning able to attract a girl like her? Li Zimo had seen many beautiful girls in his life but very few were comparable to Lu Shiyu, and girls like her always had an immensely influential background. Slowly, he grew concerned. Xiang Ning was a very talented martial artist on his own, and although the girl was a valuable ally, did he need the girl this much to improve his status?

As Li Zimo mulled it over, Xiang Ning grew increasingly uncomfortable with the attention on him and drily coughed. “Mm, you did extremely well in both strategy and combat skills. Welcome to the team.”

Lu Shiyu was as delighted as a child being praised by a senior, her face breaking into a cute smile.

Xiang Ning was confused; where were the Fury Points coming from?
