Chapter 41 Spirit Warlock’s Path of Advancement

Translator: Kyous

Staring at the statue for a while, Odin was still puzzled as to why the system allowed him to pick this statue. When a message popped out, it usually indicated a useful item. But, why wasn’t there any next step this time?

Just as Odin was racking his brain, another message appeared before him suddenly.

【Congratulations! You’ve successfully acquired the Statue of the Crow God. Gained 500 EXP.】

One single statue instantly let me receive 500 EXP! Odin’s eyes glistened. The tournament he participated in only gave him 50 EXP per person. This was tenfold of the EXP from the match! It seemed this statue indeed was a great item.

Just as Odin thought it ended like this, rows of messages abruptly bombarded him.

【Due to acquiring the statue, the qualification of knowing the Spirit Warlock’s Path of Advancement was granted.】

【A total of three advancement paths for Spirit Warlock.】

【First path: Abandoning physical body, Specter.】

【Second path: Controlling spirit beings, Spirit Controller.】

【Third path: Capturing and mastering other spirit beings’ power, Spirit Perceiver.】

【Above are three possible paths for Spirit Warlock. You’re allowed to consider it thoroughly before selecting the profession later on.】

The instant the messages appeared, Odin immediately crossed off the first option of becoming a Specter in his mind.

Is this a joke? He was unwilling to abandon his physical body and became a ghost that drifted all over the place. This felt extremely odd since one immediately wasn’t even a human. Furthermore, this profession was incompatible with the combat techniques he possessed and he was also reluctant to give up what he learned up till now.

Besides, only when he melded his profession and combat techniques together could he grow stronger. Abandoning one thing for another thing was not a wise choice.

As for the Spirit Controller… Odin lowered his head in thought. Controlling spirit beings doesn’t feel strong. One’s strength is predetermined by the spirit beings that one finds, this isn’t something I can live with. It’s extremely uncomfortable if my fate isn’t in my hands. Odin frowned as he crossed off this option too.

Now, the remaining option. Odin burrowed his brows at the last advancement path.

Capturing and mastering other spirit beings’ power. Which meant this profession allowed one to search for spirit beings and convert them into one’s power. That way, one was able to maximize the availability of choices and selected the most suitable spirit energy from the spirit being to convert it into one’s source of spirit energy, therefore enhancing one’s prowess.

Although capturing and converting other spirit beings to one’s power was seemingly difficult, what Odin wanted was the pathway to the peak. Odin clenched his fists tightly. In this world, one talks with their fist, every single action of his must make sure to bring absolute benefits for his future.

After weighing the pros and cons, Odin selected the third path, becoming a Spirit Perceiver who captures and converts other spirit beings into his own power.

The choices presented to him weren’t much and among these paths, Spirit Perceiver was certainly the strongest. Choosing the best of the bad choices was the only thing Odin could do right now.

Clicking on the Spirit Perceiver message box, Odin wished to see what’s the requirements of becoming one.

【First requirement: Reach Constitution 3.0 and Mental 5.0.】

【Second requirement: Master three different elements of spirit attack methods.】

【Third requirement: Astral Projection, Spirit Capture, and Soul Communication reach Level 2.】

【After achieving these three requirements, please collect the following materials for the corresponding advancement ritual.】

Seeing these messages, Odin felt as if a rumble of thunder was splitting his head. His EXP was fluctuating as if trying to optimize something.

Several hours went by and Odin gradually snapped out of it. He tried to take in a couple of deep breaths and sensed nothing was wrong with his body before hopping off the bed.

Then, he realized the description of several items with the rough outline of the sample appeared in his mind.

【Three objects are required for becoming a Spirit Perceiver, namely a Spirit Weapon, a Spirit Companion, and a Spirit Crystal.】

【Spirit Weapon: A weapon used when fighting in spirit form.】

【Spirit Companion: A companion who protects and escorts the soul back to the body when the soul left the body.】

【Spirit Crystal: A portable inventory that allows bringing objects back to the real world when in spirit form.】

It was glaring that if this was a normal game, all of these would appear before Odin as a mission. But, this wasn’t considered a normal game. These bits of information were what Odin received through the EXP to know what was required for the advancement.

Except, it wouldn’t be that easy to advance into a Spirit Perceiver. A lot of things were required.

Moreover, this was the first time ever Odin learned of these items. He wasn’t certain where to search for them. Despite knowing the rough outline of them, he was clueless about how to obtain them. Looks like he could only walk step by step, and should be able to recognize them when he encountered them.

After understanding the procedure of advancement, Odin finally had the long-awaited rest.

Looking at the sky, traces of white clouds formed in the eastern sky. The sun was rising soon. Odin hurriedly seized the time to take a quick nap. It had been two days since he had a proper sleep. And now, his mental state was tense and he felt extremely exhausted. Seizing this amount of time to rest properly was a must.

Due to the extreme exhaustion, Odin slept like a log immediately after he lie on the bed.

……

“What? Blue Vine University’s HQ was swept clean?” A person in a black robe stared at another person in a black robe in surprise.

“Yes, Lord Bishop. I used my spirit energy to sense it and found out the statue that was sealed by Black Death God was gone too.” Kneeling on the ground, the person didn’t dare to move. Underneath his robe was soaked by sweat.

“Even the statue is gone?!” The bishop of the Black Death Church roared, his already raspy voice now sounding even worse.

“Yes, according to my observation, everything was done by a single person. Two days ago, members of Blue Vine Univerisity’s HQ wished to complete the higher-ups’ order to capture Odin. Therefore, virtually everyone went out. It was during this period that the base was assaulted.”

“Odin…” The bishop’s eyes darkened as his expression twisted, “Dispatch more personnel to monitor this person! I suspect this assault is related to him! Our recent target is him and casualties occurred in Black Death Society and even the statue is gone. Yet, this Odin is fine. It’s out of the question Odin was unrelated to this matter! Monitor him carefully! If any more mistakes, I’ll kill all of you!!”
