Chapter 81 – Killing people (1)

The three little ones were playing crazily. They didn’t come back with Su Ergou. Su Ergou wanted to catch those children, but the three little ones were running like the wind!

Su Ergou only had two hands. And just after he caught Dahu and Ergou, Xiaohu slipped away.

Catched Xiaohu back and Dahu ran away.

When he was holding Dahu under his arms, Erhu stuck out his tongue ‘lue lue lue’ teasing Su Ergou again and escaped.

Su Ergou was flustered, he didn’t know what he should do.

The villagers who had just enjoyed the view of a pair of father-in-law and son-in-law making a fool of themselves in the field, and once again they were lucky enough to witness the youngest bully of the Su family being turned around by the three little cuties.

“Oh, dear… hahaha…”

The stomachs of the villagers hurted because of laughing too much.

When did Su Ergou, who had always followed behind his father and acted domineering, get so embarrassed?

How silly!

Hahahahaha!

Su Xiaoxiao didn’t know the farce between Su Ergou and the three little ones. After reading the list to her, Wei Ting suddenly lost his temper and went back to the house with a cold face.

“I really spoiled you too much.” Su Xiaoxiao curled her lips and went to the kitchen to wash the vegetables.

There was not much firewood, so she decided to go to the mountain to pick up some firewood.

It was dark in the morning, and she usually would walk from the main road. But at this time, there was enough light. So she simply took the narrow path behind the kitchen and walked up the mountain from behind Old Su’s house.

Su Jinniang had already gone home and was sitting in the backyard picking vegetables. From the kitchen, the conversation between her mother Mrs. Fang, her second aunt Mrs. Yang, and Mrs. Zhou could be heard.

Mrs. Zhou lived next door to the old Su’s family house. Whenever she had something to do or not, she would come over to sit down.

“Fang jie ah, which family is Jinniang going to get married to? Has it been decided yet?”

It was Mrs. Zhou’s voice.

Mrs. Fang said, “Not yet.”

Mrs. Zhou wondered, “Why hasn’t it been decided? Jinniang is already sixteen!”

In the rural area, the girl in the family who was 15 years old reached the marriageable age. And many of them had already married at the age of 14 or 15. As for the girl who was already at the age of 16 but still remained undecided, it was not many.

The second aunt Mrs. Yang said, “Don’t worry, it’s not like Jinniang can’t get married.”

“No matter how good a girl is, it’s really hard to get married if she gets older!” said Mrs. Zhou, “You guys cannot be too picky, and delay Jianniang.”

Mrs. Fang just smiled.

Mrs. Zhou was gossiping and said, “There are a lot of marriage proposals, right? I see that the matchmakers have been sneaking into your house every day. Who are they? Da Zhuzi from Old Luo’s family! He must be one of them!”

Da Zhuzi, Li Zheng’s nephew, was a down-to-earth and hardworking young man. If it wasn’t because Mrs. Zhou’s daughter was still too young, she would have wanted Da Zhuzi to be her son-in-law.

“Is there one from the town? The one who sells wine in Yangliu Village, his daughter is married to someone from the town! Even she who is far worse than Jinniang can marry to someone from the town, then Jinniang—”

Before Mrs. Zhou finished speaking, she was interrupted by Mrs. Fang’s cold voice: “That kind of behavior of hers, my Jinniang can’t do it! Jinniang has always been disciplined, so she won’t seduce a man who has a marriage engagement!”

Originally, the son of the yuanwailang1 already had a fiancée, but their engagement was messed up by the wine seller’s daughter.

1yuanwailang (员外郎) : is one of the official positions in Ancient China. It originally refers to the Langguan who is located outside the front.

Mrs. Fang added: “There are also marriage proposals from the town, but Jinniang’s grandfather wants to choose a scholar for the son-in-law.”

Mrs. Zhou laughed and said, “That’s right, Jinniang should marry a scholar! Unlike Su Pangya, so what if she finds a handsome husband? He doesn’t even know a single word, and is still learning how to farm with the Old Li’s family!”

Su Jinniang remembered the time when Wei Ting read a letter for Su Xiaoxiao. That man… was clearly literate.
