Chapter 3

How much time has passed?

Rattle, rattle

I heard the sound of the lock coming off and raised my ears.

It’s wasn’t the sound I usually heard from the bottom opening or the rice hole.

The whole door was opening.

As I sat far away, my mean uncle, who had been looking down at me, came in with a grim look on his face.

There was no noise when I was walking around, but every step my uncle took made the poor floor creak.

I saw my aunt, whose mouth showed a forced smile, and my uncle, whose eyes were glistening with tears.

After that, I cleverly shed a tear and smiled brightly.

“Auntie, shay awoy! (Aunt, stay away!)”

If you want to escape, you should lower your guard.

I stood up and bowed politely.

The count’s eyes flashed cunningly at the sight of such a helpless child that wanted to be loved.

Do you think it’s good to use?

“Follow me.”

“Yes?”

“Your place of residence has been changed.”

What do you mean my place of residence changed?

I thought with tears in my eyes.

I nodded loudly.

Then covered the corners of my mouth and pretended to sob.

At least I seemed to be better at acting than my aunt.

***

That day, I received proper clothes and a bedroom for the first time.

It was still a small room, but it was a luxury compared to the old warehouse I was living in before.

There was a carpet on the floor.

Neither did my body feel cold nor the soles of my feet when walking on the floor.

Originally, I should have gone to the dining room and sat next to Lee, but even though it was that time, I was still in my room.

It was because I made a disturbance by refusing all the maids who came to wash me.

“Nyo! Dunt tosh me! (No! Don’t touch me!)”

When I was about to bite a maid, my aunt said “Leave her alone”

“Give that beast some time to adjust. ”

Count Blanc also said so.

The disturbance I caused allowed me to stay alone in my bedroom for a while.

Thank God.

I was fiddling with a pretty yellow dress that I wore in a grotesque manner.

So far, the events are unfolding like in my third dream.

It was so accurate that it was dazzling.

Will the maid bring in a meal in a little while like in the dream? You’re gonna have to be reckless enough to turn those maids into enemies, aren’t you?

My anxious heart was pounding.

I thought I had to wear something expensive in order to be able to talk to the Grand Duke, so I stayed still while the maids changed my clothes.

If I look like a commoner, I won’t be able to get near him at all.

Well, if it doesn’t work, I can always go to a shop and sell them like in my third dream.

The owner of the shop in the back alley didn’t ask for my story, nor did he try to catch me and do something to me.

In my dream, I happened to find it, but now that I think about it, I think there was a big devil mark on the wall inside the shop.

Maybe that’s why he bought my clothes without asking me anything?

We both had dark black hair.

I don’t know, but … it will probably continue like in my dream unless I change something.

There’s only one chance to get away from this mansion.

I can’t miss it.

For that to happen I had to look pitiful enough.

You might be a devil capable of destroying the world, but you won’t kick a poor child.

Besides, in my dream, Dad already knew I was his daughter.

But I don’t know when he discovered that.

Anyway, he won’t be able to ignore this black hair.

This hair color is proof.

Evidence of the Devil’s blood flowing inside me.

And the color of our eyes is the same.

So you’re gonna have to give me the support you haven’t given me before!

I’ll raise myself, so I’ll have to be able to pay for food.

“Support.”

“Child support.”

Trying to pronounce “child support” correctly, I shook my feet.

It was then that the door opened without anyone knocking first.

“Eat.”

It was the maid whose arm I almost bit.

I could feel her anger from the way she brought me the food and put it down.

The maid made a rough arrangement and forced a smile.

I was a little surprised inside.

Gee, it’s like I am in a dream!

That maid was the one who bothered me a lot in every dream.

She would bring me a meal that was colorful on the outside but was already cold or pour water into a bowl to make broth.

She used her role as a supervisor to harass me.

No doubt.

I stared at the steaming meatball.

The smell was disgusting and I felt like throwing up right away.

There were no ingredients in the bright red soup that looked very hot next to it.

It was probably made only from spices and water.

In addition, there were no utensils.

The maid did not bring me a spoon, fork, or knife.

I never learned a thing, so I should eat with my hands, right?

If you eat this, you’ll have an upset stomach for days. You’ll never get away.

You’re mean, you’re mean.

Usually, there are only two choices a child can make under the bullying and pressure of adults.

To eat or to be force-fed.

But in my third dream, I didn’t eat this.

***

I opened my mouth with an innocent face.

“Eat some too.”

“I’m sorry miss but you have to eat everything alone.”

“It’s too much for me anyway.”

The Count holds all the power of this family.

And the count wants to take advantage of me.

You don’t want to do anything against my will now.

The maid sighed heavily and tried to go back.

“Then please wait a moment. I’ll go out and get a fork and a knife. I don’t know what it is.”

“These are meatballs.”

Do I have a bad personality?

Maybe.

I didn’t like the third dream, but I grew more and more confident.

“Miss, then I will burn my hands.”

The maid, who thought I was being stubborn, sighed heavily and answered with an irritated voice.

“Then why didn’t you bring them sooner?”

“Well, that’s because I forgot …”

“Then you have prepared me a proper meal, yes?”

I looked straight at the mumbling maid.

The maid looked at my scarlet eyes as she flinched and got tired.

“I’m going to be cursed.”

I think he said that, too.

I made a clear statement to the maid.

“Get out and make me a proper meal. Don’t forget to knock before entering next time.”

“What? Miss, it will take too much time.”

This abuse was not ordered by the count or my aunt. It was all her doing.

I smiled at the maid.

Then pointed at the meat and ordered.

“Eat it.”

A child could rip a maid’s hand.

But the maid did not obey my orders.

She just stared at me from her spot.

Yes, you don’t want to live under the orders of a child.

I nodded, fully understanding her thoughts.

It’ll be painful in the future, so I’ll let you go.

I was trying to save the poor maid of the daughter of the Holy See and the Devil’s Grand Duke.

“You, you’re gonna get fired.”

Oh, I really wanted to say this, so the pronunciation was perfect.

The maid’s expression rotted in.

“Do you think because you are the daughter of the Devil you can do something to me?”

The maid threatened me.

“Do you think someone like you can continue to be treated as a lady?”

Of course not.

I didn’t really think I’d ever been treated like a lady, nor did I expect to be treated in the future.

So the maid’s threat wasn’t really effective.

“Hey! The count is coming! ”

“What?”

The maid who was standing outside opened the door and rushed in.

It was then that I took a deep breath and …

“Ahh!”

gave a loud cry.
