The next day, as soon as Si Mingchen arrived at the company, he received a call from Sang Yu. Sang Yu wanted to discuss something complicated with Si Mingchen and arranged to have lunch together at noon.

For the whole morning, Si Mingchen increased his work efficiency, trying to finish early and have lunch with Sang Yu so he could go home and accompany Wen Zhi.

In the restaurant, Sang Yu handed Si Mingchen a thick file, which almost contained detailed information about Sang Qi since high school.

As Si Mingchen flipped through it, he asked, “Does it include any information about his relationship with Wen Zhi?”

Sang Yu nodded, saying, “There’s a section specifically about that.”

Soon, Si Mingchen found all the records of Sang Qi and Wen Zhi’s interactions during their university days.

Before opening it, Si Mingchen was prepared to see intimate moments captured between the two of them. However, surprisingly, all the photos they appeared in together were normal, and there wasn’t even a single picture of them as a couple.

Sang Yu noticed his confusion and said, “I’ve done my best to gather the largest range of photos I could find.”

Si Mingchen furrowed his brows slightly, saying, “Thank you.”

Sang Yu shook his head and lit a cigarette, saying, “It’s easy to find the recent connections between Sang Qi and Wen Qishan. Sang Qi transferred 80 million RMB to him.”

Si Mingchen sneered, “As expected.”

Sang Yu chuckled and said, “There’s one more thing you might not imagine. The trade between Sang Qi and Wen Qishan didn’t start recently. They have been working together frequently since Sang Qi’s freshman year, when he got involved in the company’s core industry.”

Si Mingchen speculated, “If Wen Zhi had a relationship with Sang Qi during that time, it wouldn’t be strange for the two families to cooperate frequently.”

Sang Yu asked, “But it’s enough to prove that they have a close relationship. I estimate that Wen Qishan might become an obstacle between you and Wen Zhi in the future.”

Si Ming’s tone was determined as he replied, “No, he won’t.”

Sang Yu questioned, “Oh?”

Si Mingchen said, “Wen Zhi had a big fight with Wen Qishan not long ago and was disappointed in him.”

Sang Yu replied, “That’s good then. Wen Zhi hasn’t been blinded by family ties.”

When Wen Zhi was mentioned, Si Ming’s tone involuntarily softened, “Hmm, he trusts me a lot.”

Sang Yu observed Si Ming’s state, which seemed like he was deeply in love, and tapped the table with his fingers, saying, “Good, at least your relationship is developing in a positive direction.”

Si Mingchen smiled, “Wen Zhi is very adorable.”

Sang Yu nodded and reminded Si Ming, “You can also take a look at the other information about Sang Qi, especially his records of staying in hotels abroad. There are over 800 records in the past five years, and he’s a regular customer at various six-star hotels.”

Si Mingchen replied, “I can imagine.”

Sang Yu spoke frankly, “This indirectly shows—”

Si Mingchen interrupted, saying, “His past relationship with Wen Zhi wasn’t that significant.”

Sang Yu agreed, “Yes.” He glanced at the paper bag he had brought and handed it to Si Ming, saying, “This is something for you. Chen Yu said you might need it.”

Si Mingchen was puzzled, he opened the bag, looked at its contents, and his expression stiffened, “Chen Yu asked you to give this to me?”

San Yu tried to calm him down. “Don’t worry, the more you rush, the more obstacles you’ll encounter. Try this thing, it has no side effects on the body, and its effects are quite remarkable.”

Si Mingchen took a deep breath and pushed the bag back to San Yu. He asked, “Who gave it to you? You can use it yourself.”

San Yu advised him, “Don’t be reluctant to seek treatment.”

Si Mingchen was losing his patience. “Where did he hear the rumor from?”

San Yu replied, “I’m not quite sure, but everyone knows about it.”

Si Ming’s face darkened. “Then please tell everyone that it’s just a rumor.”

On the way home, Si Mingchen called Chen Yu, his tone devoid of patience. Si Mingchen asked, “Who told you I needed to take that kind of medicine?”

Chen Yu chuckled mischievously. “Don’t worry about it. Just know that the things I give you are the best. Don’t thank me.”

Si Mingchen was visibly angry, his tone impatient. “Tell me, where did you hear the rumor from?”

Chen Yu hesitated and stammered, “That day, I went to the Chinese medicine store with my boyfriend, and coincidentally, we saw Wen Zhi’s prescription for you, which was for treating something like that. So we all found out.”

With a snap, Si Mingchen hung up the phone.

Si Mingchen stepped on the gas pedal and arrived home in no time.

The living room was empty. Wen Zhi was probably upstairs taking a nap. Si Mingchen walked straight into the study and took out the medicine that Wen Zhi had once advised him to take for his health from the refrigerator.

The medicine had expired, but it still carried the bitterness of Chinese medicine. Although Si Mingchen had only taken it twice, he couldn’t forget its taste.

Si Mingchen found the prescription for the Chinese medicine from the bag. A quick glance revealed that it consisted of common tonics for kidney nourishment, along with some ginseng, deer antler, and other ingredients, giving it the feel of a deceptive health supplement for the middle-aged and elderly.

No wonder after drinking this stuff twice, he felt his internal fire rising. He was relieved that he didn’t have a nosebleed with such strong nourishment.

Pushing open the bedroom door, Si Mingchen saw Wen Zhi sleeping on top of the blanket, only wearing a pair of underwear.

Wen Zhi had had this habit since childhood. He had to take off all his clothes when sleeping, or else he couldn’t sleep soundly.

Si Mingchen walked up to him, suppressing the urge to beat up Wen Zhi, and covered him up.

There was no other way.

Beating him would make him feel sorry, but not beating him made Si Mingchen truly angry.

Wen Zhi’s breathing was even and long, his eyelashes trembling gently. It was clear that he was sleeping peacefully.

Just as Si Mingchen was about to leave, Wen Zhi suddenly opened his eyes. When he saw Si Mingchen right in front of him, he immediately opened his arms and stuck to Si Ming, all sticky and clingy.

A warm feeling surged into Si Ming’s embrace, and Wen Zhi murmured, “Si Si, I had a nightmare.”

Si Mingchen caressed his back and asked, “What kind of nightmare did you have?”

Wen Zhi replied, “I dreamt that you didn’t love me anymore, and I kept crying, but you ignored me.”

Si Mingchen rubbed his head and asked, “When did you have this dream?”

Wen Zhi answered, “Just before I woke up.”

Si Mingchen looked at Wen Zhi’s guilty expression but didn’t expose him. “Have you packed your luggage?”

Wen Zhi said, “Yes, I’ve packed yours as well.”

Si Mingchen praised, “Great.”

Wen Zhi glanced at the clock and asked, “Why did you come back so early?”

Si Mingchen replied, “Something came up, so I finished my business and came back directly.”

Wen Zhi hurriedly put on his jacket and said, “Si Si, let me take you somewhere before we leave.”

Si Mingchen helped him put on the jacket and agreed, “Okay.”
