‘The truth about the confession back then.

As he walked out of the campus, Si Mingchen was still recalling Wen Zhi’s words in front of the old tree.

He had never believed in gods.

But he believed in every word that Wen Zhi said.

Wen Zhi wanted to buy crispy rice cakes nearby, and Si Mingchen walked with him.

On the spring street, the two of them walked side by side, their figures and temperament drawing attention.

Holding crispy rice cakes covered in chocolate crumbs, Wen Zhi took off his mask and blew on it before offering it to Si Mingchen.

“Si Si, you go ahead and eat.”

Si Mingchen took a small bite: “It tastes good.”

Wen Zhi also took a bite, blowing on it several times because it was hot. Just as they were about to leave, an unfamiliar voice sounded beside them.

“Wen Zhi?”

Wen Zhi turned around and looked at the chubby boy in front of him, feeling a bit familiar.

The boy was overjoyed and immediately ran over. “It’s really you, the big star! I’m Wang Ting, your desk mate!”

Wen Zhi remembered. “It’s you. How did you change so much? I didn’t recognize you.”

Wang Ting chuckled. “We ordinary people aren’t as sophisticated as you guys. Since getting married, I’ve been a bit indulgent and gained some weight”

Wen Zhi was happy and patted his beer belly. “You still need to lose weight. You were so thin in high school.”

Si Mingchen glanced at Wen Zhi’s hand.

In high school, Wang Ting had a very good relationship with Wen Zhi. He was Wen Zhi’s first friend in class. Apart from playing with Si Mingchen, Wen Zhi spent almost every break with Wang Ting, discussing what to eat for lunch.

Later, Wen Zhi was admitted to Qing University, while Wang Ting went elsewhere, and their contact became less frequent.

“This crispy rice cake shop is mine. Let’s go in and chat. I’ll treat you.”

Unable to resist Wang Ting’s enthusiasm, Wen Zhi glanced at Si Mingchen and said, “Let’s go in together.”

Si Mingchen nodded and followed them to sit down.

Looking at Si Mingchen, Wang Ting spoke to Wen Zhi with a hint of meaning, “Congratulations, Wen Zhi, you’ve finally got what you wished for.”

Wen Zhi had a bad feeling and whispered, “What are you talking about.”

Wang Ting smirked, “My wife has always followed that reality show about real and fake couples, and I happened to see the two of you. Others may not know, but I know you are that real couple, right?”

Wen Zhi smiled at Si Mingchen, “How did you know?”

Wang Ting hesitated due to Si Mingchen’s presence and winked at Wen Zhi, “Your notebooks in high school were filled with a certain person’s name. How could I not know?”

Si Mingchen, who had been silent, suddenly spoke up, “Whose name was it?”

Wang Ting teased him, “That depends on whether Wen Zhi allows me to say.”

Wen Zhi’s earlobes gradually turned red. “Don’t say it.”

Si Mingchen raised an eyebrow and spoke softly, “It seems like you had a secret crush in high school and didn’t tell me.”

Wen Zhi couldn’t help but play along and grabbed Si Mingchen’s arm, explaining seriously, “No, I didn’t.”

Wang Ting laughed, “But your notebooks were filled with Si Mingchen’s name, like stamps.”

Si Mingchen chuckled.

Wen Zhi began to be arrogant, “Why don’t I remember? Which notebook was it written on? I’ll go and tear it up right away.”

Wang Ting didn’t give in at all, “It was written in every notebook, like a stamp.”

Si Mingchen chuckled softly at this moment.

Wen Zhi felt that his behavior in front of Si Mingchen was somewhat childish, like an overly enthusiastic fan of an idol, lacking dignity.

He ate the crispy rice cakes alone and ignored Si Mingchen and Wang Ting’s attempts to tease him.

Before leaving, Si Mingchen nodded to Wang Ting and thanked him for his hospitality.

Wang Ting waved his hand, “It’s just a few crispy rice cakes. Come again if you want to eat them. Help yourself.”

The table was left with about twenty wooden sticks, quietly placed there. Si Mingchen looked at them and took out a card from his wallet, saying, “As a gesture of reciprocity, this is from one of our restaurants. Feel free to visit often.”

Wang Ting glanced at the card with a black pearl logo and quickly refused, “How can I accept this? My place is small and it’s not worth much.”

Wen Zhi insisted, “Take it. The food is delicious regardless of its value.”

In the end, Wang Ting accepted the card, and he also packed different flavors of crispy rice cakes for Wen Zhi.

In the car, Si Mingchen asked, “You’ve eaten more than twenty crispy rice cakes, so you should take some digestive pills when we get back to avoid indigestion.”

Wen Zhi gripped the seatbelt and remained silent.

Si Mingchen glanced at him and then focused on the road ahead. “Little Zhizhi is ignoring me?”

Wen Zhi frowned: “Who is Xiao Zhi Zhi.”

Si Mingchen teased, “Since Zhi Zhi is ignoring me, I won’t be able to give him the ring for now.”

“Where is the ring?” Wen Zhi finally dropped the act and stared at Si Mingchen, his eyes piercing.

Si Mingchen’s heart was wicked, so he intentionally stayed silent.

Si Mingchen was driving, and Wen Zhi didn’t dare to disturb him. He could only sit obediently in the passenger seat, gazing at Si Mingchen like a wronged stone wife.

“The ring is in the right drawer.”

Wen Zhi hurriedly opened the drawer, and two white ring boxes were lying quietly inside.

He casually opened one of them, and the engraved inner ring bore Si Mingchen’s name, slightly smaller in size than the other ring.

The two rings had the same design, with a simple and elegant style befitting men’s rings. However, upon closer inspection, one could notice that every detail of the rings was adorned with intricate diamond engravings.

When the two rings were put together, they formed a story of love.

Wen Zhi lovingly caressed the rings but didn’t immediately put them on. Instead, he carefully put them back into the boxes.

Si Mingchen noticed and asked, “Don’t you like them?”

Wen Zhi shook his head and said, “You should be the one to put the ring on me.”

Si Mingchen respected his sense of ritual and nodded, saying, “Alright.”

With the remaining time, Wen Zhi visited the brand’s official website to search for information about these diamond rings. He carefully read about the design inspiration and couldn’t help but admire Jiang Chengshu’s talent.

Upon returning home, Si Mingchen helped Wen Zhi put on the ring, and Wen Zhi no longer held onto the incident at the rice cake shop, putting it behind him.

Tomorrow, they were scheduled to record a program, and Wen Zhi felt reluctant to take off the ring. But as soon as he shared this thought with Qing Wan, she immediately scolded him for having a love-struck mind.

Si Mingchen observed Wen Zhi’s disappointment and consoled him, saying, “It’s okay. We can wear them after the program ends.”

The ring was still new to him, so naturally he didn’t want to wait another month. He found a necklace, strung the ring on the top and put it on. This way, with the high-collared dress, no one could see anything.
