Chapter 24 I’ve Got the Most Powerful Tool to Simp for My Absolute Fave

Translated by: chocolalaProofread by: voeaki

In this world, one’s magic attribute would be tested when they were little.

It was actually rare that a child would invoke magic that rendered their attribute easily noticeable like Luna; usually, they remained unknown until tested. Speaking of that, I totally had no idea of my own attribute. Anyone could belong to any of the attributes; this included the patients of Launen’s disease. Nevertheless, knowing my attribute was useless if I wasn’t even able to use magic.

It was common for the family to be present when a child’s attributes were tested. The test would be conducted with the whole family watching over the child, or something like that.

However, what Father mentioned just now was ‘mana measurement’1. This was different from the common attribute test. Mana measurement would check the mana disposition and how much mana was contained in the body–it was quite unusual for this measurement to be done.

From what I was told, mana measurements were only conducted when a child had completely invoked their attribute-magic even before their attributes got tested. Brother also underwent mana measurement, showing that the mana level contained in his body was among the greatest in the whole country. Later, I heard that Bruno and Brother’s nemesis also underwent the same procedure.

Ah, that basically meant that all the capture targets in the game only consisted of people with high mana levels within their bodies. I see. As expected of Brother! Even his mana was top-notch.The mana I usually received from him made me feel comfortable, so surely the quality must be superb!

Luna was in a good mood as she was being held by Father, but she had drifted off to sleep by the time the churchman arrived to take the measurements. The sight of her gently tucked into bed was angelic. And the look on Father’s face was overwhelmingly saccharine–it was a bit embarrassing to be shown to outsiders. Father, don’t dote on her too much, okay?

A pure white magic stone in the shape of a pearl was gently placed on the chest of the sleeping Luna. The priest holding a magic circle put his hand on the stone and chanted something. Then, the round stone gradually changed its shape.

Following this, Luna began to whimper and cry. Mother and Father watched her anxiously. As they had been warned in advance not to touch her until she was finished, Father did not try to stop the priest, but instead hugged my mother with a worried look on his face.

“The magic stone has now been infused with your daughter’s mana. What a wonderful ice attribute! The stone is turning into a very beautiful crystal. She is crying because her mana is decreasing and she is struggling to cope with that. We are almost finished, you’ve got this!”

The priest whispered to Luna in a benevolent voice and carefully placed the magic circle in his hand over the stone. The letters of the magic circle glowed; some kind of magic must have been invoked. I had no idea what he was doing just by looking, but I felt the temperature in the room dropping. Apparently, this was the effect of Luna’s magic.

When Luna, who had been crying softly, fell asleep, the priest finally picked up the magic circle and stone. The stone changed from the initial pearl-like object to something completely different—a transparent, pale blue crystal. It became faceted, like a jewel.

The priest passed the stone to Father, along with the magic circle.

“The same surprise fills my heart as it did when I measured Orsis before. Your daughter’s mana level is as great as his. The duke’s family will be secure in the future. I pray that she will grow up to be a wonderful young lady.”

“Thank you for responding to my request on such short notice.”

The priest gave a deep bow, said his farewell and disappeared quickly using another magic circle. He must be busy–from the looks of his finely made garb, he should be a person with a high position in the church.

Him aside, I was more concerned about Luna. It was strange how she could just fall asleep when she was crying only a moment ago. I heard before that the attribute test would slowly suck away mana from the body; did she faint from mana depletion? I was so worried that I tried to take Luna’s hand, but Brother gently stopped me.

“Alba, you cannot pass your mana to her, or you’ll collapse. I’ll do it,” he told me and chuckled as he reminded me of how familiar he was with this..

He took Luna’s tiny hand and lightly stroked her small head covered with soft hair. Seeing this sight, I quietly clasped my hands as if in prayer. Ah, it was like there was a divine painting right in front of me! But no painting could do this solemn and grandiose sight justice.

""

I want to preserve this picture of an angel and a divine being for later generations…! Anyone, please call over the best painters. I’m sure they’ll create unmatched paintings that will be loved for hundreds of years! If the painter can’t do it, then I will! Somebody, give me paint and canvas!

In the end, this divine-level CG2 only remained in my mind. There was no helping it, Mother said she would feed Luna immediately afterwards, so the males were all chased out of the room. A mother’s milk contained enough mana to make up for the mana lost, and Mother would watch over her until she fully recovered.

As the three of us walked down the corridor, I seriously considered buying myself some drawing tools. I wondered if I could just pester my family to buy me some, but I had no idea how much brushes and paints cost in this world. I didn’t think they were something one could just buy for a child; common sense stated that preserving the image of something was the painters’ job.

Moreover, I had already begged for my weekly lunch with Brother, so it was difficult to ask for more. Should I earn money by myself…? But I had zero skill or ability to do that. After all, not only was I lacking in the brain aspect, my body was ridiculously frail too.I had nothing I could use, let alone using magic.

As I let out a little sigh, Brother looked at my face and asked, “What’s the matter, Alba?”

“Um, nothing…”

“If it’s really nothing, you wouldn’t make such a face.”

My brother sandwiched my cheeks between his hands and I felt like my soul was being sucked into his beautiful purple eyes. That alone was enough to give me a great feeling of happiness.

“Alba, what happened? Maybe having you there during the mana measurement was not a good idea?”

“Na, mnhfpbnfbhp!”3

“Ahaha! I can’t understand anything. Orsis, remove your hands,” Father burst into laughter.

“But Alba’s cheeks are so fluffy, I want to keep squishing them.”

“Really? Let me try too.”

“No, you can’t. This privilege is mine alone.”

At those words, I reflexively offered, “Braza…ail gib u mai cheeks…”

“And what could you give me after that? Being soothed like this once in a while is good enough for me.”

Brother giggled and then released my cheeks. It was no exaggeration to say I was devastated to see those hands leaving my face. I wanted him to be soothed by them more, no matter how long it would be. I’d do anything for Brother’s tranquillity.

“It’s just–it was so wonderful to see my brother and Luna together, and I wanted to preserve that scene in a painting,” I finally confessed.

I just wanted to draw to my heart’s content–was this the artist’s side of me still alive? It had been a lifetime4 since I last drew my absolute fave. This longing reminded me of my viral drawing in my past life.

“I see. I remember, Alba has a talent for art. Father, don’t you think it’s our job to help Alba develop his talent?”

“Talent for art…” Father squinted his eyes and nodded at Brother’s words. Then he stroked our hair and returned to work.

The next day, I received a present from Father.

I opened it up to find a very expensive set of oil paints. There were a couple of smaller canvases and a few larger ones that I would never be able to reach the top of with my height. How could I paint on them? I couldn’t even reach them! If only I was a bit taller before I got these huge canvases!

As I was reaching up to check the height of the canvas, Father, Mother and Brother all stared at me with a lukewarm look, so I grunted and thanked Father in a loud voice to hide my embarrassment. Of course, it wasn’t that loud in reality, but it felt like I could have burst my eardrums.

I shouted in my mind as I held a brand new brush in my hand. Alright, now let’s get drawing! Let’s preserve as many images of the shota version of my absolute fave to my heart’s content!
