Episode 43 – A Sycophant Shouldn’t Be The Enemy

I was horrified by Genpaku who grinned at me.

Of course, I didn’t think that this guy would betray me, but I know that he’s not a guy who has nothing to gain by betraying his classmates, so I don’t know what he’s thinking.

“Oi, sycophant ! ! Are you sure I can beat the shit out of him?”
The delinquents leader asked Genpaku with a despicable smile on his face.

Then Genpaku said [Yes]  with a laugh.

And then, as if to add something, he whispered [If you could….] but me and the delinquent couldn’t hear him.

I still couldn’t believe Genpaku’s statement, so I did my best to protect my step sister from the approaching delinquents.

“I’m scared….., Onii chan.”

My step sister is asking for help behind my back.

No, I know it’s probably not me.

I had heard from my step father that my step sister had an older brother once, so it must be that person.

…..I have to protect them somehow.

Now that Genpaku and the others have betrayed me, even though I’m isolated and don’t have anybody to ask for help, I’m desperately trying to come up with a solution to the current situation.

However, the delinquent who approached me grabbed my hair. The delinquent then lifted his head and glared at me.

Behind Genpaku, I heard the delinquent laugh happily, but I saw Genpaku blocking the path of the two delinquents who were trying to move forward.

“You did us good last time….. It hurts, you know? I’m going to take care of the girls who follow you around, prepare yourself ! !”

After saying that, he raised his arm and tried to hit me in the face.

….In that moment.

“Oi, Genpaku. I’m here…”

Saying that, I heard a different voice from someone who was there between Sabu and Mobu  who were supposed to be my enemy.

As if to respond to that voice, Genpaku said [Oh, thank you for your hard work, Miuchi san ! !] and bowed to the owner of the voice.

I, who was about to be hit, and the delinquent who was about to hit me, looked toward the direction of the voice, there were two blonde-hair men standing there.

“Tatsu Nii, Tora Nii ! !” 

My childhood friend who was trying to protect the gyaru behind me, raised a surprised voice and looked at the two of them.

….? Tatsu Nii? Tora Nii? I’m pretty sure they’re names were Miuchi. Who are they?

As I’m unable to grasp the situation at the sound of my childhood friend’s voice, the delinquent who was about to hit me started to tremble. Apparently, he was so terrified that he couldn’t even speak.

“Hm, Asuka? Why are you here?”

“Tatsu Nii, these guys were trying to attack us ! !”

When my childhood friend told what had happened to the person called Tatsu Nii, Tatsu Nii glared at the delinquents with a face like a Hannya mask.

“Are you sure? Genpaku…..”

The man, probably a person called Tora Nii, asked Genpaku about the situation in a low voice.

Then, Genpaku smiled and answered [Yes ! !] cheerfully.

Hearing this, the delinquents around him ran away like rabbits, and the delinquents leader turned toward Genpaku with a pale expression.

“W-what are you talking about ! ! you’re the one who called me here….”

“I would’ve advised you if I could…. In the first place, you were trying to get your hands on Miuchi san’s sister…..”

Genpaku laughs with a ruthless expression on his face, and the delinquent goes [Ugh….] he can’t even speak a word.

“What ! ! you dare try to get your hands on our cute little sister, Oraaa ! !”
The man called Tatsu Nii let out his anger.

The delinquent shrink at the angry expression, and even i, who was not the target, felt terrified.

“Well well, Nii san. Today’s attempt was unsuccessful, so just forgive him.”

The man called Tora Nii tapped Tatsu Nii’s shoulder.

“Huh? Our cute little sister was scared, you know? And you want to forgive him, Tora ! !”

Tatsu Nii, who got stopped, glared at Tora Nii with a face that would make a normal person faint.

“Of course I can’t forgive him, you know? Originally, I would’ve killed him myself here…. But Asuka is here.”

When Tora Nii shook his head while grabbing Tatsu Nii’s shoulder, Tatsu Nii went [Ahh….] and turned to my childhood friend.

I looked in the same direction and saw the brothers  with a mixed expression of gratitude for the help and not using violence.

“Tch, your life is safe for now…..”

Tatsu Nii, who averted his face away from my childhood friend, muttered to the delinquent.

The delinquent looked relieved to see that, but Tora Nii who saw that, approached the delinquent with a displeased expression, held his hair and looked at the delinquent’s face.

“Oi, this time I’ll spare you and let this pass for the sake of my sister, but next time, if you try to pull something like this….. I’ll crush you with all my strength.”

My childhood friend who saw Tora Nii who’s ready to attack him at any moment, she shouted [Stop, Tora Nii ! !].

When he heard that voice, Tora Nii took his hand off the delinquent’s hair, clicked his tongue, and walked away.

As soon as the delinquent set free, he turned on his heel and tried to run away toward the direction  where his companion fled, but Genpaku blocked the escape route with a grin.

“H-hey, sycophant. You’re in the way, go away ! ! Do you want to get beaten !?”

He threatened Genpaku while panicking, but when Tatsu nii yelled [HUH?] he cowered at that voice.

When Genpaku saw that situation, he held the delinquent’s shoulder and turned him toward our direction.

Then, he made him memorize our faces in order, and muttered.

“From now on, try messing with these guys, not only Miuchi san, we won’t show you mercy, okay?”

Genpaku’s expression was ruthless. I had never seen that expression on Genpaku’s face before, and it sent chills down my spine.

….I’m glad Genpaku didn’t turn into an enemy.

As I was stroking my chest, feeling glad that he didn’t betray me, the delinquent said [I-i get it ! !]  and this time, he ran away like a rabbit.

We were finally released from the tense atmosphere, and each of us sighed, the girls slumped to the ground as if they had lost all their strength.

Seeing the situation, I relieved my nervousness and sat down on the spot, staring at Genpaku.

“Oi, Genpaku ! ! I thought you betrayed me. Mobu and Sabu too ! !”

Genpaku smiled at me when I complained to the three of them.

“Well, sorry sorry. If I didn’t do this, I don’t think they would take my word seriously.  Their cunning and vindictiveness are well known around here, so I thought the fastest way is to hit them with someone they fear the most ….”

After he said that, Genpaku walked toward the Miuchi Brothers.

As I was about to stand up to see what was going on, someone pulled the hem of my clothes.

When I looked at the end of my hem, I saw my step sister holding onto it with a terrified look on her face.
