After finishing her meal, Luo Qiao went to tidy her belongings in the guest room. Since she had slept all afternoon and wasn’t feeling tired, she had asked her father to send over some information from Eastern Vision Film & Media for her reading.

The next day, she woke up early. After putting on her makeup, she recalled that she had left a pair of pearl earrings in her dressing room, so she headed to the master bedroom.

As she stood at the door, she called out loudly, “Ming Siran, are you awake?”

Almost at once, the door opened. The man was dressed in a white shirt and black suit trousers. His eyes had a hint of laziness in them, a possible sign that he had just woken up. He cast his gaze down on her.

Blatantly ignoring him, Luo Qiao made a beeline for the dressing room. Ming Siran looked down to neaten his cuffs, then calmly shut the door.

Aha! There you are!

Luo Qiao found her pair of pearl earrings and turned to the full-length mirror to put them on. Meanwhile, Ming Siran hovered at the door with his hands in his trouser pockets, looking at her casually.

“Why are you looking at me?” She took a moment to throw him a glance.

“Because you look good,” he drawled.

“…”

Glancing at him, Luo Qiao squeezed past him, then ran downstairs to get her handbag and left the house in a flurry.

She was still waiting for a cab when Ming Siran was driving out. When he passed by her, he wound down his car window and said in an apathetic tone, “I’ll drive you.”

As Luo Qiao swept her eyes over him, her face was equally expressionless as she replied, “No thanks. An ex-boyfriend is as good as dead.”

Ming Siran, “…”

As he watched the girl in his rearview mirror growing smaller, he put on his earpiece and dialed a number. “Chauffeur Zhou, come to the main gate and pick up Luo Qiao, then take her to the office.”

“Understood, CEO Ming.”

It had been quite some time already and Luo Qiao still hadn’t managed to hail down a cab. Just as she was trying to call her father’s chauffeur, a black sedan pulled up in front of her. “Miss Luo.”

Luo Qiao recognized the chauffeur and said firmly, “You can go.”

“CEO Ming says that if you really mind your dead ex-boyfriend so much, he’s happy for you to pay a fare for the ride.”

Luo Qiao, “…”

When they arrived at Eastern View, Luo Qiao slapped down a few hundred dollars for the chauffeur and got out of the car. But the more she thought about it afterward, the more it didn’t feel right.

Why did she still feel like she had lost?

Earlier on, Luo Qiao’s father had already come by the office. As soon as she arrived, an executive assistant stepped in line with her to explain all matters relating to the business matters with her. She listened as she walked, not making any comments.

All eyes were on her until she entered her own office. Once the door closed, the highly-tensed managers finally sighed in relief.

Someone muttered, “It’s a good life for people who have reincarnated well, one can be a CEO when they don’t even know very much.”

“Shh! Not so loud. Are you looking to lose your job?”

“It’s true, did you see her just then? It’s obvious she doesn’t know anything, she just kept nodding.”

Someone burst out laughing and said, “A starlet who depended on her looks for a living in the entertainment circle, what do you expect her to know? You should be thankful if she doesn’t lose money for the company. Alright already, let’s get back to work!”

With that, the people dispersed. In the office, Luo Qiao spun around in her office chair, her sharp gaze falling on the young male personal assistant.

“Inform everyone that we will be meeting in half an hour.”

PA Sun nodded. “Understood.”

Luo Qiao flipped open the document on the desk and scanned through it.

The office was brightly lit.

Luo Qiao looked smart and pretty in her working suit. She flashed a smile around the room and said, “Relax, everyone. The main agenda today is for me to get to know you better. If you have any ideas, feel free to bring it up for discussion.”

The people in the room exchanged looks with each other but did not speak. Luo Qiao did not try to hurry them, she only looked down at the document. The seconds turned into minutes and continued to crawl by.

After ten minutes, it was clear no one was going to speak. Luo Qiao looked at her watch and lifted her gaze as she observed the room. “So does that mean no one has any ideas or anything they want to say?”
