On the morning of the next day, a piece of shocking and grim news spread among the people of Parvatnagar.

Prince Harsh was found lying dead on his bed in his bedroom.

First, one to notice his blood-covered body with a hole in the chest was one of the women with who the Prince had taken to enjoy the night.

A large commotion arose on the royal residence as many civilians gathered in front of it. General Dasra ordered some soldiers to pacify and control the crowd while a meeting of influential people was taking place.

General Dasra, Queen Dowager Indira, Princess Ishita, and Karan were the most prominent ones in the meet. Other attendants and guards were also there but remained silent for the most part.

"Harsh..."

Indira sorrowfully uttered her son's name. She was sad but expected this outcome after meeting Karan.

"General Dasra, were you able to find the culprit?"

Ishita asked.

"Culprit? Don't we all know who is the culprit?"

In response to her question, Dasra put his doubts on Ishita.

"What do you mean, Dasra? My daughter can't do this?"

Indira got enraged.

"It is obvious, my lady. Who else has to gain from Prince Harsh's death other than the princess?"

Dasra reasoned.

"Don't cross your limits, Dasra. What proof do you have for doubting my daughter?"

Indira said.

"Proof..."

Dasra couldn't think of any proof.

"Lady Indira, the women in Prince's room were from Daguo. I have my doubts that Rebellion is involved in his assassination."

Karan stated.

"...Rebellion, no, no, those women were a gift from me to Prince. I had brought them when I visited the Zhong Empire, Rebellion has nothing to do with it."

Dasra was scared. Harsh and he were involved with rebellion, if this surfaces, he and his family will be executed.

"If not the rebellion, it could have been you," Karan said.

"Killing Harsh and blaming the princess will make your path clear to take the throne."

He continued.

"You... outsiders shouldn't speak in our internal matters!"

Dasra screamed towards Karan.

"I have allowed him here, he is a respectable envoy of Zhong Empire and also a distant relative of mine. And his reasoning is fair too, don't you say, Dasra?"

Indira defended Karan.

"Tell me Dasra, did anyone entered Harsh's room in the middle of the night?"

Ishita asked.

"No... there as none!"

Dasra was cornered. Every finger seems to be pointed at him.

"The women inside his room had a connection to you and guards outside his room were appointed by you. Do you have anything to say in your defense, Dasra?"

Indira stood up and said to him in a threatening tone.

"My lady... I haven't done anything... yes it must be... the rebellion... Harsh was secretly dealing with them..."

Noticing no way out, Dasra spoke the truth.

Everyone except a few in the room had shocking expressions.

"It all makes sense now... Harsh and you allied with rebellion so you can sell mountain stallions to them at a higher price. But you got greedy and planned to take the throne. Killing Harsh and blaming Ishita was a good plan."

Karan assumed. Even attendants and guards were finding his theory believable.

"Wait... no..."

Dasra had no idea what was going on. He got wrongly accused of killing the prince. His future looked dark.

"Guards, capture him. My son... I am ashamed to say this but had betrayed our city-state. And General Dasra helped him and thus is also a traitor."

Indira ordered.

Not waiting any moment, guards ran towards him to capture and imprison him.

"NO!"

Dasra drew out his sword.

"Stay away! Stay away!"

He screamed. The guards stopped in their tracks as he was much more powerful than them and could kill them in a single hit.

"Let me help you!"

Karan stepped forward as he was confident enough to take him out.

"Don't come any closer."

Dasra warned him while aiming the tip of the sword in Karan's direction.

In a swift moment, Karan got near him and punched him in the gut.

"Argh..."

Blood spurted out as he coiled back to the wall behind him. He also lost his grip around the sword and became weaponless.

"Don't... otherwise..."

Dasra slowly stood up and pulled out a knife from the belt on his waist. He raised his hand and summoned a person.

"Li Su? What are you doing here?"

Karan asked as he identified the person as his fellow core disciple.

"I was... told... to keep... an eye on... him..."

Li Su slowly said. He was beaten with blood coming out of his nose and mouth while his face was swollen.

"If you come any closer, I'll kill him!"

Dasra declared as he brought his knife near Li Su's neck.

"Karan..."

Li Su muttered his name with pleading eyes.

"Li Su, your sacrifice will not be in vain. And don't worry about your mother and sister, I'll take care of them."

Karan said with a smirk and walked towards Dasra.

"What?!?!"

Both Dasra and Li Su were shocked as Karan didn't care about his comrade's life. Though if the comrade was a beautiful woman, the reaction would be different.

"Go away!"

Observing that trick of taking hostage will not work, Dasra pushed Li Su towards Karan and ran away.

Karan also pushed upcoming Li Su to the side where he crashed on the ground.

Karan and Ishita with guards followed Dasra to capture him. It didn't take much time before Karan strikes his neck with a punch, killing him instantly.

The guards took the dead body away.

The news that Harsh and Dasra betrayed their people spread in the city like a fire. This made Ishita the only viable candidate to seat on the throne.

"Thank you, Karan!"

Ishita whispered in Karan's ear.

"You also have my thanks, Karan!"

Indira walked to Ishita and Karan.

"A mere thanks will not suffice, a celebration is needed."

Karan replied.

"Hehe... of course, I'll order for a celebration tonight. And in this, we will declare the Ishita to be the next ruler of Parvatnagar."

Indira said with a smile.
