Su Jiaojiao and Song Qinghan’s relationship was growing at a delightful pace.

When the two interacted, they became sweeter and sweeter, making people think that they were a loving couple.

The village people thought Su Jiaojiao was a shrew, especially after the Song family members kept speaking poorly about her. Wherever they went, it seemed like there were people secretly insulting her and pointing at her.

Sun Fang had made a fuss with people multiple times because of this.

But when people actually faced Su Jiaojiao, no one said anything really nasty towards her. After all, they wanted to give her face, and they saw Su Jiaojiao grow up. So aside from a few brain-dead people, nobody insulted her directly, and only mocked her behind her back at most.

Thus, their lives were rather blissful.

After half a month, the plaster on Song Qinghan’s leg was taken off. The places where the leg was bare still bore scars, while the rest was bruised heavily, making for a shocking sight.

Su Jiaojiao immediately sprayed his leg with the spray mist. Apparently, she had to spray his leg ten times with this.

This spray mist was very ‘powerful’, and a large portion of it was gone after using it once. It should probably be usable for precisely ten times.

Although Song Qinghan did not really put faith in the spray mist, seeing as Su Jiaojiao meant well, he let it be. Wherever the spray mist got into contact with his bare leg, there was a burning sensation, so it might actually be useful.

As Song Qinghan thought that the spray mist could be used or thrown away, he was calm about his leg.

He was able to walk with his walking can quickly by now.

Song Qinghan was currently fishing using the fishing rod Su Jiaojiao had bought. Although he didn’t know why she bought it, he could while away time with this. Aside from that, Su Jiaojiao was in a mood for fish today.

On the other side of the village’s back mountain, there was a creek which was rather far away from where the villagers worked. Next to this creek was a decent-sized pond. As the pond was teeming with life, people often fished there.

The commander always had one eye open and one eye closed towards this matter. They relied on this mountain to live after all. Aside from that, it had been seventy-two years already, so the restrictions were less stringent. He wouldn’t care even if the villagers had a feast. So when Su Jiaojiao wanted to eat fish, he took the fishing rod and went here.

He was pretty good at fishing as well. With some grubs he dug out at the field for bait and a cup of water, he could fish all day.

There was even shade from a tree, so it was cool to boot.

Although he wanted to spend more time with Su Jiaojiao, he hadn’t done anything for quite some time now. As he finally found a way to contribute to this household, he naturally wanted to do a bit more.

As Su Jiaojiao saw that it was mealtime, she made some dishes, put on a straw hat and called Song Qinghan back to eat.

There was only a clock in the house which could be used to tell time. Watches were costly, and the general populace was unable to afford one.

Su Jiaojiao was also unwilling to buy one, and wanted to wait until a mission gave her one someday.

She got the fishing rod from the system as a reward, and claimed it when buying groceries at the village.

Su Jiaojiao walked rather quickly, and she lowered her head while walking and didn’t speak to anyone, so she couldn’t see the gazes of other people after she walked past.

It was June already, and it was considered part of the farming season. Even though it wasn’t as frantic as July and August, many people didn’t return home for lunch because they had to work.

Those people include Zhang Yu’s father and elder brothers.

Zhang Yu was ready to be married, and her parents felt ashamed they did not follow her wishes when helping her pick a husband. So they did not require her to go out and work, and instead let her work indoors.

Zhang Yu woke up at the crack of dawn. She first washed all her family members’ clothes, then fed the chickens, and swept the house… After busying herself for the entire morning, she made lunch and sent it to her family members at the workstation.

Although she didn’t need to get battered by the wind and burnt by the sun, her work wasn’t easy.

She had toiled until her face turned pale, but when she took the lunchboxes to their workstations, she saw a woman wearing an olive-green dress. Her exposed arms were white and delicate, while her face was slightly flushed (白裏透紅), and there was some meat on her. (The hell am I supposed to translate this phrase; I’m in a different province)

It was self-evident she lived a blessed life and was doted on by her family members.

Although the two was good friends, Zhang Yu still felt envious. Rumour was that the Su family split because of her. As her sister-in-laws were reluctant to give her money, her parents split up the family forcefully after Su Jiaojiao said a few words.

Now, her parents gave her money openly. What was even more frustrating was her husband.

Although his leg was broken and he walked with a limp, he looked handsome, and you would be hard-pressed to find someone more attractive than him. Especially before the ‘family splitting’ scenario occurred, when Su Jiaojiao acted like that towards his own parents, Song Qinghan didn’t even voice a single word of complaint. It was clear he had a good temper too.

No matter how people said Su Jiaojiao was a fiery shrew, in reality, in the hearts of the married women bullied by their mother-in-laws or had an ugly husband, while simultaneously not being caring enough, Su Jiaojiao was really one to be jealous of.

After the girl who was taking lunchboxes to her family alongside Zhang Yu saw Su Jiaojiao, she couldn’t help but sigh and say, “How is Su Jiaojiao’s life so good?”

Zhang Yu nodded, “When you compare yourself with others, it is really infuriating sometimes!”

Su Jiaojiao would always be the figure these girls are envious of.

After speaking, Zhang Yu faced the other girl. Their shoulders slumped at the same time, and they were filled with resignation.
