The man with a red badge on his sleeve seemed quite serious. Some of the more weak-willed girls had turned pale already, and the bowls they’re holding are shaking uncontrollably.

Su Jiaojiao coughed twice before stopping. Seeing as she seemed better, Song Qinghan walked towards the red-badged person. However, he was restrained by Su JIaojiao, who said reassuringly, “I’m fine. Let me talk to him.”

She really isn’t scared of the red-badged person. She was only slightly shocked by that sudden loud voice.

Wang Jianye winked at her from behind. Su Jiaojiao smiled confidently and stepped forward, saying, “What are you talking about? I was only treating my friends to a meal. Is there something wrong with that?”

“Then why didn’t you eat?” The loud youth scanned the house with his brows creased. Then, he looked at the food inside the girls’ bowls. He had never seen these things before. Some of them were red, while others were green. They looked pretty nice and had a rather fragrant smell.

Zhao Sisi had finished her meal a long time ago as she came here first. Thus, she had been sitting in a corner and chatting all this time. After hearing his words, she put her arms on her waist (power pose!) and said, “Couldn’t some of us be quick eaters? This isn’t anything expensive. It’s just some dough, with a little vinegar and chilli oil mixed in.”

Wang Jianye hurriedly said, “Comrades (communist greeting), these are all local families. This girl was just making friends and giving them some food. Isn’t that right?”

Two of the girls who had been frightened to death shook their heads like a woodpecker. They said reasonably, “That’s right! We were just coming over to hang out, and we might as well had something to eat. Is there something wrong with that?”

They had never made any clear-cut monetary transactions. They only gave Su Jiaojiao money according to the market price because they thought it was the right thing to do. Aside from Zhao Sisi, Su Jiaojiao had never stated an exact cost, so everyone was paying via the market price but without using vouchers. This made the price of the food significantly cheaper.

They were quite forthright with their actions, and it made the two people with red badges on their sleeves waver, “So there really weren’t any under-the-table transactions?”

Su Jiaojiao was still smiling, “Of course not. It isn’t possible for us to even receive orders here. I just made some green bean soup. Since I’m friends with them, I called them over to have a bite. You can see for yourselves that they aren’t anything expensive.

She hadn’t used any expensive materials when making these because she wanted to earn more profit and liked the food that way. Just as well, as it was benefiting her here.

Su Jiaojiao directly took the two to the kitchen to see how the food was made behind-the-scenes. Basically, one spoonful of flour was adequate to make one rice noodle roll. She didn’t add other things like eggs.

After a while, the rice noodle rolls were done. She took them out of the bamboo steamer briskly and added some vinegar and sauces for flavouring, “Do you want to try some?”

“So…should we have some?” the loud youth looked at his brother.

He also wanted to know what the rice noodle rolls Su Jiaojiao made tasted like, so he nodded.

There weren’t rice noodle rolls around these parts, so it was considered a novelty. The two of them had never had one before. After tasting one, they nodded their head in appreciation. They knew it really was made of flour and nothing else.

Rice noodle rolls weren’t expensive, so their actions weren’t questionable. Aside from that, the flavour wasn’t bad, but it was a bit bland as it was made of nothing except dough.

After eating the rice noodle rolls, they became less severe and were in a good mood. They weren’t worried about private transactions at all. Aside from that, the person serving them was even a fair maiden (cringe af lmao), so they became nicer, “We came here because we received an accusation. Stop coming here all the time, alright?”

“Alright, alright. The two of you have a point,” Su Jiaojiao continued to greet them good-naturedly.

Wang Jianye pointed towards Song Qinghan at this time, saying, “The two of you can be at ease. This is most definitely an honest family. Qinghan had even been a soldier before, and he wouldn’t stay at home all the time if it wasn’t for his leg injury. His injury is also why his wife likes to make all this, just so he can get better soon.”

This was an acceptable answer.

“So he’s a soldier!” The two red-badged men believed this after looked at Song Qinghan’s fit body and bruised leg.

After that, the two looked around the house. They really found nothing, and the place really was a simple and even slightly poor one. Thus, they gave up, “Then, we’ll go back.”

“Goodbye.”
