My Evil Imperial Wife is Too Arrogant

Chapter 481: Grand Competition Finals (Twenty-Eight)

Early the next morning, Lou Mu Yan followed the pupils of the Eight Extremes Sect to the competition arena.

On the way, Headmaster Feng thought about it again and again, then called Lou Mu Yan to his side while walking to speak.

“The man who attempted to assassinate you last night committed suicide.”

Lou Mu Yan wasn’t surprised. In such a killer organisation, if one couldn’t complete the mission, it was only a dead end.

“Is he a killer from the Hidden City?” After thinking about it, she asked.

Headmaster Feng nodded and said in a whisper: “In his interspatial ring, there’s a Hidden City assassin token with Ninety-Two written on it. He should be the ninety-second among the Hidden City Mortal Rank killers.”

After a pause, he added: “The next few days, please don’t leave mine or Headmaster Huo’s sight. This assassination attempt failed, so presumably more assassins will be sent to kill you.”

“Does Headmaster Feng know why they want to kill me?” Lou Mu Yan asked: “Just because of my performance in the Grand Competition of the Six Sects?”

“Not entirely.” Huo Ling Long said: “The pupil who tried to assassinate you should’ve already passed on the fact that you’re the direct disciple of the Grand Ancestor to the Hidden City, so the leader of the Hidden City ordered you to be assassinated.

“In addition, with your performance in the Grand Competition of the Six Major Sects, they should’ve initiated an Earth Rank assassination order.”

Hearing what Huo Ling Long said, Lou Mu Yan had a guess for the reason why the Hidden City wanted to assassinate her.

The Hidden City was an underground dark1 organisation and was hostile against the Six Major Secrets and several top forces, so once a genius appears or a Grand Ancestor accepts a new disciple, they would all be on the blacklist for assassinations.

“Chi Xiu, the champion of the previous session from Heavenly Secret Palace and also the Inner Sect number one has now been promoted to the Heaven Rank Assassination Order and his head has been offered a reward of no less than two hundred million low-quality spiritual stones.” Headmaster Feng whispered.

Lou Mu Yan raised an eyebrow—Ming Xiu, that guy’s, head sure was valuable!

“I wonder how much my head is worth in the Hidden City.” Lou Mu Yan rubbed her chin and said.

Headmaster Feng, Zi Che Shi, and the others couldn’t resist twitching the corners of their lips when they heard her words.

Was Lou Mu Yan not worried about her own safety at all. Why did she care about how much her head was worth?

They, as mortals, really couldn’t understand her brain circuits.

Huo Ling Long smiled and said without a good attitude: “Your head is worthless right now, at most ten or twenty million low-quality spiritual stones, you can sell some random pill and earn that amount.”

“Aren’t they bullying people too much.” Lou Mu Yan furrowed her brows, “After all, I’m also a Grade 6 Alchemist but I’m only worth that much, they’re not giving me any face at all.”

“…” The several people were utterly speechless—was this the main point?

“It’s good to be cheap!” Headmaster Feng glared at her, “There are few people who will take the risk to kill you for such a cheap price. I heard that every time Chi Xiu goes out, he would encounter many assassinations by high-level killers. That’s nothing to joke of.”

“Is that so!” Lou Mu Yan asked with a gleaming eye: “Are the high-level killers of the Hidden City rich?”

“Of course they’re rich, they’re at least richer than the Sword Masters of the same stage, they make money by killing people. Not only do they have mission rewards from the Hidden City, but they also have interspatial rings from people they killed.” Headmaster Feng sighed.

Lou Mu Yan’s eyes and eyebrows curved with her smile, “Very good!”

“What do you mean very good?” Headmaster Feng asked in confusion.

“It’s very good that they’re rich. I’m dead poor right now.” Lou Mu Yan smiled, her eyes narrowing like a sly fox.

Headmaster Feng and the others also realised now about what she was going to do—they couldn’t believe their own ears at all.

“You’re not thinking of counter-killing and taking away their interspatial rings right?” Headmaster Feng asked seriously.

“They’ve all come to kill me, wouldn’t it be a loss if I don’t get something in return?” Lou Mu Yan smiled carefreely: “Headmaster Feng, your tolerance is too low, you should learn from our Headmaster.”

“…” Headmaster Feng almost spat out a mouthful of blood.

He really didn’t understand Lou Mu Yan’s thoughts—was this girl not afraid of death?

If others heard that they would be targeted by killers of the Hidden City, then they’d long have urinated from fright.

But she sure was good, not only did she have no fear, but she looked as if she was going to make a fortune. The heart of this old man right here wasn’t good, don’t shock him too much alright.

“Alright now, Lou girl has her own sense of propriety.” Huo Ling Long rolled her eyes at Headmaster Feng, “Useless fellow.”

“Girl, although it’s said that this is a fortune brought to your door, but you also have to be prepared.” Huo Ling Long reminded.

“Don’t worry Headmaster, I still cherish my little life.”

When they arrived at the battle arena, it was still crowded with people.

Upon seeing Lou Mu Yan, many people’s eyes were glued to her.

“Lou Mu Yan already won four championships. I wonder if she’d win the championship of the Smithing Competition.”

“Yeah! It stands to reason that the chance isn’t big, but because of those four exceptions, it’s really hard to say this time.”

“If she wins the Smithing Competition as well, she’d be versatile in five specialisations.”

“Comparing oneself to another can definitely infuriate oneself to death. Last session there was a Senior Brother Chi, this time there’s a Lou Mu Yan, did they want us elite pupils to live anymore or not!”

“…” The main topics of discussion among the pupils on the seats surrounding the competition platform revolved all around Lou Mu Yan.

Bai Fei Yao didn’t appear today but was instead absorbing and refining a pill that could assist in advancement with Ancestor Bai.

The melodious bell rang, and the referee of the Smithing Competition came up on stage to announce the rules.

“The Smithing Competition is split into two matches. The first one, one will refine a Magic Tool specified by us within four hours and the person who has refined it will enter the second match for the championship.

“In the second match for the championship, the participating pupils will each choose a type of Magic Tool to refine. There are no restrictions. The pupil who makes the highest grade Magic Tool wins the championship.”

The rules of the Smithing Competition were the same with the Alchemy Competition.

Lou Mu Yan walked to her spot and looked at the requirements on the paper. Advanced-Level Grade 4 attack-type Magic Tool. One could simply use the materials on the table, while the shape and attributes of the Magic Tool wasn’t limited.

Without hesitation, she picked up the materials on the table and tossed them into the smithing cauldron to refine. The Spirit Flame had already been exposed, so she didn’t use her own Elemental Energy flames.

After two hours, six flying daggers as thin as cicada wings flew out of the smithing cauldron.

What Lou Mu Yan refined was a set of Peak-Quality Saint Tool, and it was also the best quality among the Advanced-Level Grade 4 Magic Tools the participating pupils refined.

A total of eight people entered the championship competition in the Smithing Competition, eventually taking only the top six.

Zi Che Shi also entered the championship match beyond expectations from others.

Headmaster Feng who was sitting above was smiling like a chrysanthemum, accepting all the eye daggers thrown by the Headmasters of the Vast Mountain Sect and Spirit Tamers Sect.

He was secretly feeling super awesome. Not only was he proud and elated, but they were also the Sect who had the most spots for the Land of Inheritance right now.

Those old things from the other Schools of their Sect wouldn’t come even if they were killed, pushing him and Huo Ling Long out to be the team leader. By the time they returned, their intestines would probably be green with regret.

“The second match of the championship begins now. You can each take out the materials you have prepared to start refining.”

As soon as the referee’s voice fell, with the exception of Lou Mu Yan, the other seven people took out the Magic Tool materials that they had long prepared to have refined one after the other and started working.

1idk, the words were **** out. None of the websites had the original words lol. I guessed ‘dark’. ‘sinister’, ‘bloody’, anything evil probably works too ahahaha

Also, super minor detail note: I’ve been playing around with capital letters for nouns. So if you’ve noticed certain words missing capital letters or whatever, I know. Although a super small detail, I’ve been trying to figure out which words I can write as proper nouns, so that they’ll have capital letters. Maybe it’s the English teacher in me XD. Chinese characters don’t have capital or lowercase letters, so yeah. But some words like city names and names of people obviously have capital letters. On the other hand, words like ‘A/alchemist, or ‘M/magic T/tools’ or ‘L/low-Q/quality S/spiritual S/stones’ etc. I’m just playing around with for now. I’m just so indecisive about these small details hahahahaha
