My Evil Imperial Wife is Too Arrogant

Chapter 658: Revealing the Truth

Fei Yan Chen’s words not only slapped the Empress across the face, but also slapped the Alchemy Pagoda’s Master and Disciple in the face.

“Eighth Prince, is this your attitude towards your Empress sister-in-law?” The Empress’s expression carried some anger.

Fei Yan Chen raised an eyebrow and said with ridicule: “I don’t need to respect my Empress sister-in-law who has ulterior motives. Do you think that if my elder brother really dies, the Bei’yuan Kingdom will be your world?”

“What do you mean? This Empress wants the Emperor to recover the most.” The Empress narrowed her eyes, but her expression grew much calmer instead, “On the other hand, this Empress still needs to check whether the Eighth Prince, who holds great power, has any ulterior motives or not.”

“Empress does not need to worry about this King’s affairs.” Fei Yan Chen glanced at the elderly man in white and said: “Since the person you invited can’t cure third elder brother, then replace him.”

“Why should this Empress believe that your people can cure the Emperor?” The Empress obviously didn’t want Lou Mu Yan to do anything.

Fei Yan Chen smiled, took out an imperial decree from within his clothes, and tossed it to the Empress, “This is the imperial decree personally promulgated by third elderly brother. This King is the biggest in the entire Bei’yuan Kingdom, second only to the Emperor.”

The Empress opened the imperial decree and read it. Her originally calm expression grew ashen. She clasped onto the imperial decree tightly, her eyes filled with raging anger after disbelief.

That man said he loved her—this was his expression of love?

The elderly man in white who had been silent the entire time stood up with a faint smile and looked at Fei Yan Chen, saying: “The poison Emperor Bei’yuan has is very unique. This old man truly can’t find the cause in order to use the right medicine. If the person invited by King can cure him, then please.”

The young man who was almost killed by Bing Ji before shouted in disapproval: “Master, she…”

But before he finished speaking, he was interrupted by the elderly man’s cold glance, “‘One cannot judge by appearance’, ‘the sea cannot be measured with a bushel’. This old man can’t cure him, so why not let this young miss try?”

The young man snorted unwillingly: “Humph, I sure want to see what she’s capable of.”

In the resting quarters, the other four men in golden clothes who sat cross-legged near the dragon bed at Heaven Elemental Realm sat like unmoving monks. One of them raised his eyelids, took a faint look at Lou Mu Yan, then closed his eyes again.

After the white-clothed man stepped aside, Lou Mu Yan walked over.

She sat in the previous position of the elderly man in white and looked at the person on the dragon bed.

The person on the bed had his eyes closed, and was breathing weakly. His face was paler against the bright yellow brocade robe and his facial features were somewhat similar to Fei Yan Chen’s.

She took his pulse, stretched out her hand to lift the other’s eyelids for a look, then placed Emperor Bei’yuan’s hand on the tip of her nose and smelled it.

After a while, she slowly said: “It’s not pure poison in him, but a kind of gu poison that makes people fall into a permanent coma but won’t die.”

In her previous life, she knew gu poison very well, so when she discovered that there was no poison in Emperor Bei’yuan’s body, and that there was a very faint, strange fragrance on him, she guessed that it was gu poison.

The Empress immediately hid the shock in her eyes, looked at Lou Mu Yan sharply and asked: “What evidence do you have for your words? How can you conclude that the Emperor was poisoned by gu?”

Lou Mu Yan looked up at the Empress with a half-smile and said: “Isn’t the evidence on you?”

“Presumptuous!” The Empress yelled, “How can there be evidence on this Empress? You’re a quack doctor.”

She didn’t carry any gu poison on her, so even if she was searched, she wasn’t afraid.

Between the Empress and Lou Mu Yan, Fei Yan Chen obviously only believed the latter, “Mu Yan, you mean that the poison in my third elder brother is related to the Empress?”

“Mm, the antidote is on her.” Lou Mu Yan nodded.

The Empress smiled with mockery, “Eighth Prince would rather believe in an outsider than in your Empress sister-in-law?”

“This King has never believed in you, so how could you say ‘than’?” Fei Yan Chen replied lightly.

“Good! What if you can’t find the antidote on this Empress?” The Empress pointed at Lou Mu Yan with vicious eyes and said: “If there is no antidote on this Empress, she will pay for disrespecting this Empress today, sentenced to castration1.”

Fei Yan Chen furrowed his brows. He absolutely believed in Lou Mu Yan, but seeing the Empress’s confident and fearless expression, he wasn’t sure if this woman was playing some tricks.

If they really couldn’t find the antidote on the Empress, it’d be impossible for him to let Lou Mu Yan suffer penal castration.

Just as he was about to speak, Lou Mu Yan said indifferently to Long Yao, who had been gearing up for a while now: “I hate people pointing at me the most. Go break her hand, then drain her blood closest to the heart into a bowl.”

Long Yao still had a cool, cold expression. With just a step, he arrived beside the Empress’s side.

Seeing that the situation wasn’t in her favour, the Empress immediately made a move to confront Long Yao.

The four men in golden clothes who were sitting cross-legged were about to make a move but were stopped by Fei Yan Chen.

“Mu Yan, can her blood closest to the heart be used to save Emperor Brother?”

Lou Mu Yan was very satisfied with Fei Yan Chen’s trust and intelligence, “Yes. Gu poison isn’t mother-child gu, so many people will be misled by what’s on the surface when inspecting Emperor Bei’yuan’s body to think it was extreme poison. Only the blood closest to the heart of the person who administered this gu could burn the gu poison in his body to death.”

Only when the Empress heard Lou Mu Yan’s words, did she reveal some shock. She didn’t expect that a little girl actually saw through something that even the Elder from the Alchemy Pagoda branch in Bei’yuan Kingdom couldn’t figure out.

Most importantly was that Fei Yan Chen obviously believed in that damned girl more. With viciousness in her eyes, she no longer hid her true strength, and the aura of a Heaven Elemental Realm immediately emanated out.

Her reveal of her true strength surprised Fei Yan Chen and the four golden-clothed deacons. They didn’t expect the Empress to hide so deeply, only revealing her Core Elemental Realm cultivation base until now.

Long Yao had also been promoted to Heaven Elemental Realm under Mo Yan’s advice within the last six months. The Empress also obviously had just been promoted not long ago, and was quickly restrained by him.

“AH!!” A shrill scream came from the Empress. Her two hands were completely broken by Long Yao.

Long Yao also mercilessly sliced open the skin above the Empress’s heart and took a bowl of blood.

Lou Mu Yan took the blood from Long Yao’s hand and fed it to Emperor Bei’yuan, then treated him with golden needles.

After an incense stick of time, the eyes of the man on the dragon bed trembled, then slowly opened.

“Third elder brother, you’re awake!” Fei Yan Chen revealed excitement when he saw Emperor Bei’yuan awaken.

Seeing his younger brother’s undisguised concern, Emperor Bei’yuan smiled gently, and said in a hoarse voice: “I’m fine now.”

“Why did you wake up?” The wound on the Empress’s heart had stopped bleeding, and she glared ferociously at Emperor Bei’yuan who sat up on the dragon bed, saying with ridicule: “Your life sure is tough.”

Emperor Bei’yuan’s eyes were calm and indifferent, and his voice was very steady, “Empress, my love for you has completely severed today. Since you love Eldest Imperial Brother so much, then you can go with Eldest Imperial Brother.”

“You actually want me to die with him?” The Empress’s eyes widened in disbelief at the man who had doted on her for more than twenty years.

But she really couldn’t see anymore love in this man’s eyes this time, “Is this your love for me?”

“Withstanding pressure from all sides, I had only you in the harem. I’ve spent more than twenty years, yet I’ve been unable to warm your heart. And in the end, I still have to be bitten by you. What reason do you think I have to continue to love you?” Emperor Bei’yuan’s eyes were calm, as if he was talking about something unrelated to him.

1to be honest, not entirely sure if this is the correct translation/meaning the author intended, but it’s possible in terms of context and I did some research (what confused me was that ‘gōng’ can also mean ‘palace’, so it could’ve meant ‘palace punishment’ or something). Anyways, the ‘gōng’ punishment (宫刑 gōng xíng) was one of five punishments in ancient China and was abolished during the Sui Dynasty, rarely used after. It’s usually used on men, but apparently it was also used on women. Just as the word implies, it’s the removal of their reproductive organs. No need to explain for men, but for women, apparently there are different methods. It just took me aback that that was what it meant when I translated it HAHA

Random Note: Finally a filial Emperor who isn’t a hypocrite saying ‘I love you’ while having hundreds in his harem, but he got a trash wife. *sob* (Well, ignoring the fact that apparently LMY’s paternal uncle emperor never actually slept with any of the women in his harem except for Lou Mu Yan’s aunt but anyways).
