MEIWITA Chapter 690: I’m Looking at My Wife

Emperor Ming watched his son not far away and couldn’t bear to look directly at him when he looked at Lou Mu Yan bursting with such joy.

He found it amusing that his devilish and cold son would be so shameless and thick-skinned to take the initiative to approach the woman he loved.

“Old man, aren’t you going to come meet your daughter-in-law?”

Emperor Ming, who was about to leave with his other children suddenly heard Ming Xiu’s voice transmission and turned back angrily, “Can’t you bring her to meet me! No father-in-law would take the initiative to meet his daughter-in-law.”

“I’m afraid her mother wouldn’t agree to come over.” Ming Xiu said helplessly.

Emperor Ming rolled his eyes inwardly. If Feng Yue Xin wouldn’t come over, then he needed to go over? Why did his son feel like he would do anything for his girl, tossing out all principles and baselines1?

Before the father and son could finish their secret discussion, Feng Yue Xin spoke first: “Alright, I’ll take Yan’er back to the Feng Clan first, you can go back to the palace too.”

Ming Xiu was taken aback for a moment, then said with a pleasant smile: “Aunt Feng, you and my Emperor Father haven’t seen each other for a long time right.”

“I still need to take Yan’er back to be recognised and returned to the clan, I don’t have time to meet your Emperor Father, another day.”

Emperor Ming once took Ming Xiu’s mother and Feng Yue Xin to train together and they had a good personal relationship behind the scenes, so she directly refused.

Emperor Ming naturally heard the conversation between the two not far away and the corners of his lips twitched slightly. Not only did his son do anything to please Feng Yue Xin’s daughter, he was even disliked by Feng Yue Xin—just what was what and what!

“Alright then, I’ll personally pick Aunt Feng and Yan’er up to the Ming Palace for a gathering another day.” Ming Xiu’s posture in front of his mother-in-law was relatively low.

Now was indeed not the day to gather and chat—there were still so many powerful forces watching form the sidelines.

“Alright!”

Although Feng Yue Xin regarded the emotions of her split soul as her main emotional part, but her temperament mostly came from the original body, so she didn’t have the gentleness of a ‘good wife and mother’, nor was she as gentle as when she was in the lower interface.

Of course, it wasn’t that she hated Ming Xiu, it was simply because her current temperament was relatively cold and not as easy-going as when she was her avatar.

“I’m leaving.” Lou Mu Yan cast a reassuring look at Ming Xiu.

Ming Xiu smiled, “Mm.”

The two exchanged a tacit understanding through their eyes, then their gaze crossed and parted. Although it was very fast, but many people still saw it.

Feng Yue Xin took Lou Mu Yan’s hand and left the arena straight away, while the members of the Feng Clan also hurriedly followed behind.

“Stinky boy, she’s already left, until when will you keep looking?” Seeing Ming Xiu watching Lou Mu Yan leave, Emperor Ming rolled his eyes at him and asked.

Ming Xiu shrugged and smiled devilishly: “I’m looking at my wife.”

“…” Emperor Ming really felt his heart hurt—his son was too embarrassing, how unbearable.

The other princes twitched the corners of their lips. Was this still their pervertedly strong ninth younger brother who acted decisively and ruthlessly?

Why did he look so much like a ‘wife’s slave’.

Ming Xiu walked in the direction of Emperor Ming, but was blocked by the Lan Clan’s Patriarch.

“Greetings Your Royal Highness the Ninth Prince.”

Ming Xiu glanced at him lightly and said: “The Lan Clan is acting overboard right now. If you don’t restrain yourselves, the current situation of the Zhu Clan will be the future of the Lan Clan.”

After he finished speaking, he passed by Patriarch Lan and disappeared in the arena together with Emperor Ming and the others.

The Patriarch of the Lan Clan’s eyes were filled with grimness. He didn’t expect that Ming Xiu would warn the Lan Clan in such a shameful way, but no matter how dissatisfied he was, he dared not show it.

He also didn’t think that Ming Xiu would really act against the Lan Can. After all, this was Ming Xiu’s maternal clan.
He looked at the Lan Clan’s members who were looking at each other and said coldly: “Let’s go.”

The other people who were watching the show also parted and many people left with deep thought.

Meanwhile, An Yu Qian and the others were completely shocked. They never expected that Lou Mu Yan was not only a member of the Feng Clan, but also the future princess consort of the Ninth Prince of the Ming Palace Royal Clan. This news was hard to digest.

Not to mention An Yu Qian and the others, even Mu’rong Qing brothers and Fei Yan Chen were all shocked.

After returning to the Lan Clan, Patriarch Lan kept Lan Ruo Shui behind to speak to her.

He looked at Lan Ruo Shui with displeasure in his eyes and said: “Don’t you have a good relationship with the Ninth Prince? I thought that the position of the Ninth Princess Consort must be yours, you really disappointed the Lan Clan.”

Lan Ruo Shui concealed the ridicule in her eyes and replied icily: “That Lou Mu Yan hasn’t married into the Ming Palace yet, so who can say for certain what will happen in the future.”

The relationship between her and Ming Xiu wasn’t as good as in the rumours. She had more contact with his avatar, but he was a difficult person to get close to. Even if they were cousins, and the former Empress treated her very well, but Ming Xiu didn’t care.

Her father wasn’t Ming Xiu’s mother’s elder brother of the same mother, but were siblings who didn’t have a good relationship with each other, born of different mothers.

Her father, just like her grandfather, spoiled his concubine and mistreated his wife. After the wife died, the pampered concubine became the step-mother and began to suppress the main daughter.

It was also because of this common experience and her deliberate intimacy that the former Empress treated her differently.

It was just that the former Empress was taken care of by the Empress’s paternal grandfather2 and even Lan Ruo Shui’s grandfather and grandmother didn’t dare not give face to her. Later, the former Empress rose to power and induced them to make mistakes which caused them to be deprived of the position of Patriarch and Mistress of the Clan.

But she only had the care of the former Empress. Since the former Empress died, her father’s attitude towards her had become more and more indifferent with dislike.

If it weren’t for the fact that her talent made the Lan Clan fear and take advantage of her, her current identity would’ve been replaced by her half-brother and half-sister of a different mother.

If the former Empress hadn’t died, her father might not have even been able to take the position of the Patriarch of the Lan Clan, making Ming Xiu even more indifferent to the Lan Clan.

If the Lan Clan didn’t have their prior foundation, Ming Xiu might’ve taken action to personally eradicate such a maternal clan who only knew how to use and seek connections with the imperial family.

It was just that no one in the Lan Clan could see this fact clearly except for her great-grandfather2, and she didn’t bother to remind them. When her plan was realised, she’d immediately leave the Lan Clan and let them wait for the clan to be wiped out.

“You can’t say it like that.” The current Mistress of the Lan Clan smiled, but her eyes didn’t have much warmth as she said with a bit of warning: “I think His Highness the Ninth Prince is very concerned about that Lou Mu Yan. It’s fine if you can’t bind His Highness the Ninth Prince, but you mustn’t step on His Highness the Ninth Prince’s baseline like Zhu Xiao Liu and cause the entire clan to fall into misfortune.”

“Yeah, Elder Sister, I’m not trying to reprimand you, but you’re too cold-tempered. You don’t look like that Lou Mu Yan at all who everyone likes.” A beautiful woman in pink beside the Lan Clan’s mistress added.

She had long been displeased with this elder sister who only knew how to pretend to be aloof and was scheming all day long. She was so arrogant using her high alchemy talent, and no one entered her eyes. Who did she think she was.

Who would like such a cold temper. Although she didn’t like that Lou Mu Yan very much, but comparing the two, she would choose Lou Mu Yan if she were a man.

Lan Ruo Shui ignored the criticisms from the two, looked at Patriarch Lan, and said coldly: “If there’s nothing else, I’ll return and prepare for tomorrow’s alchemy competition.”

Patriarch Lan never liked this daughter and wanted to get angry, but when he heard the alchemy competition, he held back and waved his hand, saying: “Then you should leave and get ready.”

Lan Ruo Shui turned around and left the hall, her eyes turning icy cold after she left. She’d definitely destroy the Lan Clan with her own hands.

1literally translated all this description from the words 倒贴 lol. Usually used to describe women who did ANYTHING to please the man. Except it’s MX this time loool.

2I genuinely don’t know how to translate these parts. During Lan Ruo Shui’s perspective, the words 爷爷and 祖父 keep being used, BUT they both mean the same thing… ‘paternal grandfather’. And yet that wouldn’t make sense because LRS is clearly speaking of two different ‘grandfather’s’—one who was Ming Xiu’s mother’s father who disliked the mother, while the other ‘grandpa’ was the one who protected Ming Xiu’s mother and seemed to be wise, so I could only think of 爷爷 as ‘grandpa’ and 祖父 as the ‘great-grandpa’. Meaning LRS’s grandfather was the one that Ming Xiu’s mother deposed of together with his pampered-concubine-turned-wife, while LRS’s great-grandfather (aka Ming Xiu’s mother’s grandfather) was the one that cared for MX’s mother… If that made sense? I just can’t think of who else could be the ‘祖父’ because based on context, both 爷爷 and 祖父 are both a part of the Lan Clan, so it couldn’t be talking about anyone outside of the Lan Clan.
