The girl’s dormitory building was in front of her. She wanted to thank him and then quickly leave.

But, he suddenly called out her name.

    “Lu Yuanyuan.”

    “… Hm?”

Su Lin passed the umbrella from one hand to the other and looked at her face carefully.

The little girl looked the same as usual, honest and pure. It really didn’t seem like she was sad.

But… those words she had said earlier, must have been held inside her for a long time; it took a lot for her to pour out her feelings.

So how would it be so easy to bounce back?

He asked, “You… On the first day of the sports competition, you don’t have an event, right.”

Lu Yuanyuan thought for a moment, “I don’t think I do. They’re all on the second or third day. Why?”

“Well,” Su Lin seemed as if he had expected her answer, nodding: “Let’s go out and play.”

Lu Yuanyuan didn’t react: “… ah?”

“I’ll take you out to play.” He continued.

He held the umbrella with one hand, and the other hand suddenly lifted up and touched her hair.

    “Don’t be unhappy.”

    –

Lu Yuanyuan had been a student for many years. From receiving little red flowers1 in kindergarten to taking the merit award in elementary school, she was in the top three of her year every year without fail. Although her person was petite, even on field day, she also gave the class glory and won prizes. She was the epitome and model of an all-rounder in character, intellect, physical arts, and arts.

At the beginning of high school, that time of adolescence when kids were the most impulsive, there were always boys who skipped class or fought in her class. No matter which class she was assigned to, she was the class representative or study committee member or a role of that sort and couldn’t help but sigh.

Ah, how nice was it to learn peacefully and calmly, why break school rules?

Last week, she didn’t go to French class because her period cramps were so sore that she couldn’t help it.

For such things as group activities, it may not be obvious from the outside, but Lu Yuanyuan was really a person with a strong sense of collective honor.

Although many people chose not to go to the university’s sports competition, normally speaking, even if she didn’t personally have an event, she would definitely not miss it.

    But…

It could be that his voice sounded too nice that day. Or, it could be that she also wanted to go play.

Whatever the reason, she was persuaded by Su Lin.

But what she didn’t expect was that when he said he would take her to play, they would go to the amusement park where they didn’t finish hanging out last time. The one left an extremely deep impression on both of them.

The ‘Deceiving Amusement Park’ was not in S City. To be precise, it was on the edge of a small town at the junction of two major cities.

Last time, they rented a bus, but it wasn’t available now, so Lu Yuanyuan proposed to take the train.

The train left at 9:30, but the station was not close to C University, so the two departed at eight in the morning.

Lu Yuanyuan was the same as last time, carrying a backpack with water, her wallet, ID, and also some other miscellaneous small things, not bringing too much. When she saw Su Lin at the entrance of the school, she froze for a moment.

He wore a black sweatshirt with three white stripes, with a white baseball cap. There was not much of an expression on his face, his facial features indifferent. In fact, it wasn’t too different from usual, but…

The dark circles under his eyes were a little darker.

Coupled with his pale white lips, his whole person looked a bit tired.

“Good morning, senior.” She quickened her pace to reach him.

Su Lin put away his phone and smiled at her, “Mm, let’s go.”

As they left the school gate, she suddenly remembered that on Monday, he seemed to post a photo on his Moments, in the wee hours of three in the morning. The photo was a dense paragraph of English, and he didn’t caption the photo with words, only with a blood-dripping cleaver emoji.

    Was it homework?

“Senior,” she walked while looking sideways at him, “did you… not sleep well?”

    He hummed.

After a pause, the voice that came out again was a bit muffled: “Is it obvious?”

“Not very obvious,” Lu Yuanyuan thought he should care a lot about his image, so she said against her conscience: “Just a little.”

She also held out her hand and used her fingers to gesture to him a “little”.

Su Lin couldn’t hold back his laughter as he pressed down the brim of his hat.

In the morning, it was difficult to hail a car. They stood outside the school gate on the road and wait for ten minutes before an empty car pulled up. The good thing was that there wasn’t traffic on the roads. Twenty minutes later, they arrived at the station.

After checking the tickets, there was still plenty of time, so Su Lin took her to eat breakfast. After eating, Lu Yuanyuan sat opposite him and watched him yawn for the fifth time.

Remembering his Moments, she couldn’t help but ask, “Did you stay up late to catch up on your homework?”

“Mhm,” He answered, his voice sounding a bit nasally.

“Senior,” she tried to put on a serious face: “It’s not good to stay up late.”

Su Lin, who was swinging her backpack over his shoulder, paused. As soon as he looked up, he saw Lu Yuanyuan’s small face was solemn, with an earnestly-educating-him look.

    He immediately wanted to laugh.

The little girl exploded: “What are you laughing at? It is really bad! My grandfather does not let me stay up late. If you sleep so late again, you’ll become stupid and ugly-“

Su Lin stood up and reached across the table to touch the top of her head.

Then he rubbed it a little.

Lu Yuanyuan’s words came to an abrupt halt.

She looked as he smilingly said, “Okay, I won’t stay up.”
