Li Jun was not very old, but he was tall and fit. When his tense handsome face stared at others, there was a strong sense of oppression.

Liu Li was just a philistine woman. She knew Meng Xiaoyue’s character was soft, thin-skinned, and would precisely fall for this which was why she dared to come to school and block him. But what she did not expect was that Meng Xiaoyue had recognized such a powerful friend.

Faced with Li Jun, her confidence fell back down and she felt weak in her heart. Her face reflected her cowardliness and her tone shifted into politeness, “Xiaoyue’s father is sick. The doctor said a large sum of money is needed in order to treat it. I really didn’t have any other methods……..”

Liu Li weakly looked at Li Jun.

“I am asking what genetic disease?” Li Jun frowned and repeated again.

Liu Li was startled by his blackened face and began stammering for half a day. In the end, she still could not say what disease Meng Gang had.

Li Jun was impatient with her and simply pulled Pei Lu outside the school. When Liu Li saw that they were leaving, she reflexively blocked the front.

“Get out of the way.” Li Jun looked unpleasant and coldly stared at the person who was blocking in front of him.

Liu Li regretted it when she stepped forward, but she was not willing to let her visitation be for naught. Against Li Jun’s cold gaze, she mumbled: “Xiaoyue……your father, he……”

“Don’t you still have two houses and 200,000 in savings?” Li Jun suddenly spoke.

As the estate left by the ancestors was revealed, Liu Li’s face turned white with fear and she stammered in defense: “That isn’t mine so I cannot touch it……Xiaoyue’s father is sick, Xiaoyue should express……”

Liu Li’s eyes were greedy as she swept up and down Pei Lu’s outfit. She couldn’t wait to pick up all the money in his pocket into her arms.

Li Jun looked at her with disgust. Holding Pei Lu, they nonchalantly went around her and into the driver’s car before going away.

The driver turned the car around. Today was Friday and they had agreed to go back to the Li family for dinner. Thus, the driver had been waiting early in front of the school.

“Go to the city hospital first.” Li Jun spoke.

“What’s the point of going to the hospital?” Pei Lu wondered.

Li Jun held his hand tightly and kissed him on the back of his hand, “Just to do a medical examination, teacher don’t be afraid.”

Pei Lu finally connected the thoughts and also understood Li Jun’s intention. Meng Gang just had a genetic disease and it wasn’t guaranteed that Meng Xiaoyue wouldn’t inherit it. However, the incubation period of this disease was long, before the disease started to act, it simply could not be detected.

Meng Gang suddenly had the disease act up and was now in this situation. As he was barely hanging on to his life, it was no wonder that Li Jun would worry.

“It’s okay.” Pei Lu smiled and squeezed his fingers. Following Li Jun’s example just now, he rawly dropped a kiss on the back of his hand.

Li Jun rubbed the back of his hand on his face and his tense expression eased a little, “Mnn, it’s just a medical checkup, it’ll be fine.”

……

They soon arrived at the city hospital.

Li Jun made a phone call, entered the hospital, and without waiting in line, he took Pei Lu straight to the expert consultation room.

The receptionist was a balding uncle, who was chubby with a simple smile. He greeted Li Jun warmly when he saw him and Li Jun respond politely. He then pushed Pei Lu, who was behind him, forward, “Please check him, also is Meng Gang’s case in your hospital?”

The balding uncle thought for a moment before responding uncertainly, “Which Meng Gang, you mean the one sent in a while ago with a genetic disease?”

Li Jun nodded, “Mnn, he’s teacher’s father.”

The balding uncle rubbed his chin and his smiling face gelled, “I know, I will pay attention.” Saying that, he took Pei Lu to the inside of the consultation room to start the examination.

The process of examination was very tedious and a variety of unseen instruments were brought out in turn. Pei Lu lied on the instrument as his belly got coated with cold liquid. The balding uncle held the instrument and slowly slid it across his belly as his eyes stared fixated on the instrument screen.

There were too many things that needed to be checked as Pei Lu felt his heart thumping inside. At first, he had little feeling but at this time, he also felt some fear well up.

Stiffly lying on the monitoring table, Pei Lu’s voice carried a bit of helplessness: “666, am I sick?”

666 took a while to reply to him, “Dear~ Did you not seriously look at the character profile I gave you?~”

“……” Pei Lu thought about it. It seemed that he indeed did not take a proper look =-=

666 saw his silent little expression and knew immediately that he must not have looked carefully, “Dear, carefully read Meng Xiaoyue’s introduction again~”

Pei Lu opened Meng Xiaoyue’s character profile skeptically.

The top line was Meng Xiaoyue’s basic information.

Further down was the family background, character, and so on. Pei Lu pulled all the way down, but did not find anything wrong.

“666, I finished reading it, nothing is wrong, ah.”

“Dear, did you not see the age column of the character profile?”

Pei Lu really did not pay attention and he hurriedly backed up to look again. The character profile did have a column that said the age of the character.

 ——Meng Xiaoyue: twenty-seven years old.

Pei Lu once again confirmed everything, there seemed to be no problem?

666 really couldn’t stand him any longer and simply pointed out, “You are twenty-six years old today, also, did you not notice that the age column is light gray?”

Pei Lu gave a long ‘ah,’ “I did not pay attention, could it be written wrong”.

666 felt lazy to argue with him and simply said, “Pull the lower right corner of the triangle-arrow-point open.”

Pei Lu did as he did and saw a small row of typing appear below the light gray words.

——Meng Xiaoyue, aged twenty-seven, died of a genetic disease.

Pei Lu: ……

“So I only have one year left to live?”

666 also could not say for sure, “Since you transmigrated it, it has disturbed the original trajectory. Whether you will die from genetic disease can not be determined.”

Pei Lu felt a little bit of weight lifted from his heart, but before he could begin to smile, he heard 666 continue, “But even if you dodged it this time, when the time comes, you will still die.”

Pei Lu: ……

“Meng Xiaoyue’s life expectancy is only twenty-seven, no one can change this.”

Pei Lu was a bit depressed, “I know.” What he didn’t expect was that he would have to leave so soon.

The balding uncle gave him an all-around checkup and the final result was a healthy body. The only problem was a benign tumor in the stomach that had to be surgically removed.

Li Jun was very efficient. After doing the examination, according to the doctor’s request, all the things were ready in the afternoon and Pei Lu was admitted to the hospital.

Although the doctor said it was a minor surgery, the Li family was not at ease. Wen Wan and Li Qingyi also rushed to the hospital after receiving the news.

Pei Lu was wearing a hospital gown and was forcibly fed porridge by Li Jun on the bed. As he was preparing for surgery, Pei Lu couldn’t eat too much and was forced to stop eating after he ate only a seventh full.

Li Jun had been strictly controlling Pei Lu’s diet since he listened to the balding uncle’s medical advice. Pei Lu wanted to vomit when he ate the porridge. But every time the words of protest rolled to his lips and he saw Li Jun’s tense face, with the gloom in his eyes, he ended up not being able to say anything……

Under Li Jun’s careful regimen, after a week, Pei Lu’s physical state was at its best.

The balding uncle began to arrange surgery for him.

……

Before entering the operating room, Li Jun pulled Pei Lu aside and whispered, “Teacher, I have something to tell you when you come out.”

Pei Lu asked dumbly, “Why can’t it be said now?” What if I don’t get off the operating table?

Li Jun faintly smiled and shook his head, holding his forehead against his, “I can’t, I have to wait for you to come out in order to say it.”

“Okay,” Pei Lu kissed his brow, smiling brightly, “Then wait until I come out.”

“Mnn, I’ll wait for you.” Li Jun muttered softly.

Pei Lu followed the medical staff into the operating room. The operating room door closed and the red light at the door lit up……
