Chapter 150.2 – Extra Chapter 9

The fifteen years old Lu Sheng was about to have her adulthood ceremony, and had lived with Qi Yang and Lu Qipei in Yongzhou for eight years. For her, there was no difference between her life in Yongzhou and in the capital, as the adults always pampered her.

Before she was three, Lu Sheng was a pitiful little thing that no one cared about, but after that she grew up spoiled – although sometimes, she could see anger and disgust in her uncle’s eyes, as if her presence was hindering something… But her uncle never harbored any real malice towards her. And there was even less need to mention Her Highness; she always pampered her, in fact, she pampered her so much  it made her uncle jealous!

Well, as she grew up, she also came to understand why her uncle always looked at her with that disgusted and depressed look back then…

Speaking of which, the adulthood ceremony at the age of fifteen was a major event. It meant that she was about to be an adult. Afterwards, she would no longer be a child hiding under her elders’ wings, she would face the world as an adult!

Of course, what she had to face for the first time now was her elders’ “concern”.

“Ah Sheng, you’re about to come of age, which young master do you have your eye on?” Qi Yang leaned against Lu Qipei without hesitation, casually asking that while teasing the rabbit with carrots.

It was actually not too early to mention marriage before the adulthood ceremony; most girl would start looking around by thirteen or fourteen. It’s actually already late to worry about this matter when the adulthood ceremony was coming up. Putting it another way, most of the talented people of similar age had already been chosen by others, and most of the remaining ones had some problems. It would be much more difficult to choose a suitable husband from among them.

However, this was not a problem for those with high positions. Just like how the Emperor’s daughters didn’t have to worry about getting married, Lu Sheng, who relied on the Grand Princess, also didn’t have to worry about these things. Many people are lining up to get married, and Qi Yang would just need to mention it casually.

Of course, Lu Sheng understood. Upon hearing this, she did not worry or feel shy. She just held the old, almost toothless rabbit in her arms further away and said, “Your Highness, don’t keep teasing it. You know its teeth are broken.” After saying that, she answered Qi Yang’s question, “I don’t like any young master in particular.”

She was straightforward and unfettered, and when it came to marriage, there was no hint of a girl’s shyness. She cared more about the old rabbit in her arms.

Hearing this, Qi Yang moved the carrot away in boredom. The rabbit watched helplessly, but it was powerless. Even if it struggled in Lu Sheng’s arms, it was not possible for it to break free. Although part of it was because Lu Sheng had grown up, the more important reason was that it was getting old. She had taken care of it for more than ten years, from a fluffy little rabbit to an old rabbit with bald fur and missing teeth. There’s probably no other rabbit that lived as long as it did.

Lu Sheng did not come to dislike the rabbit for losing its fur and making it look ugly. She still held it in her arms every day, just she had done for years. Right now, she was still gently stroking its fur, calming her companion who rarely became so active.

The rabbit was comforted and obediently nestled in Lu Sheng’s arms, no longer struggling. Qi Yang’s voice was heard again, “You should go have a look once in a while. Don’t wait until you see one you like, but they’re already engaged.”

Lu Sheng continued stroking the rabbit’s fur and smiled nonchalantly upon hearing those words, “But I just don’t like any of them. The young men in Yongzhou are either rude and reckless, or weak and pretentious, and some are just lazy silkpants. Where can I find a good one? Besides, if I don’t like them, would Your Highness be unwilling to take care of me for a few more years?”

Her Royal Highness The Princess had a large fiefdom, not to mention one Lu Sheng, she could easily afford to raise tens or hundreds of her. Plus, Lu Sheng did not actually need Qi Yang to support her. Over the past two years, Lu Qipei and Qi Yang had also handed her the wealth that was inherited from the Lu family.

That is to say, this was just a joke.

But after hearing this, Qi Yang fell into thought then turned to ask Lu Qipei. “Are the men from Yongzhou really so unbearable?”

Lu Qipei couldn’t help but smile when she heard this. She casually smoothed Qi Yang’s hair and replied, “Maybe, I never noticed it either.” After saying that, she finally gave Lu Sheng a look and said, “Maybe Ah Sheng just hadn’t met the right person, and fate hasn’t come for her yet.”

Lu Sheng nodded and agreed, “That’s right, fate just hasn’t come yet. Your Highness, don’t be anxious.”

Upon hearing this, Qiyang couldn’t help but laugh. She glanced at Lu Sheng who was playing with the rabbit and said, “Who’s anxious about this small matter? I’m not urging you to get engaged, I’m just saying that whatever you want is fine.”

Lu Sheng then said, “Then I will stay at the princess’s mansion and stay with Your Highness and Uncle for a few more years.”

Qi Yang didn’t care much when she heard those words; she waved her hand and easily accepted, not bothering to disturb her peaceful life over this small thing.

It was Lu Qipei instead who casually looked at her niece. When she withdrew her gaze, there was still a hint of disappointment in her heart – how long was this little girl going to be a third wheel between her and Her Highness!?

Lu Sheng looked at the two’s intimacy, with a hint of envy in her eyes.
