Lin Xiaomiao nearly lost it when a handsome man suddenly appeared before her. The bad mood was instantly gone even though she was not happy a while ago.

Glancing at Mu Bai, she nudged Shen Chen with her elbow, asking in a whisper, “Shen Chen, who is he?”

Shen Chen frowned and did not feel like answering the question.

Noticing her silence, Lin Xiaomiao shouted quietly at her, “Shen Chen…”

“I don’t know him,” Shen Chen finally said as she glanced at her, voice lacking emotions. She then turned around and left.

“Shen Chen, don’t go…” Lin Xiaomiao called out.

At the same time, Mu Bai had gone ahead of her, following Shen Chen from behind.

“Hey…”

Lin Xiaomiao’s reaction was a little too slow. When she came to her senses, the two of them had disappeared from her sight.

Coming out from the restaurant, Shen Chen headed home along the route she came from with Mu Bai following closely behind. She was aware that Mu Bai was tailing her. She picked up her pace with her face darkening as if someone had ran away with her money.

She scurried ahead as if she did not want to have anything to do with the man behind her. But Mu Bai was not ready to give up and still followed closely behind.

He was shadowing her, just keeping a nice distance. After a long while, Mu Bai finally spoke.

“Chen.”

His gentle voice sounded like the most pleasant melody in the world. But to Shen Chen, it was the opposite.

“Chen…”

Looking at her, Mu Bai called out again. But Shen Chen still kept walking as if she had not heard him.

“Shen Chen!”

Still not giving up, Mu Bai called out aloud this time and strode ahead to catch up with her. When he finally came up behind her, Shen Chen slowed down and turned back.

“It has been a long time.” Mu Bai could not take his eyes away from her.

“How long is a long time?” Shen Chen let out a faint smile.

“I know you don’t want to see me.”

It was a silly reply. “Since you know that, you shouldn’t have appeared before my eyes.”

Mu Bai could not help but smiled. “Chen, you are still the same Chen…”

“If not, who do you think I should be? You?” she scoffed.

Mu Bai looked at her in the eyes, his voice composed. “This is the Chen I like, who will not be concerned by things of the past.”

Shen Chen shot him a glare, her smile evaporating. “Don’t call me Chen. We are not that close.”

Mu Bai forced a smile. “I know you’re still angry with me. But back then, it wasn’t my choice…”

Not his choice? Was it not ridiculous? Shen Chen rolled her eyes. All she wanted now was to have nothing to do with him again.

Mu Bai stared at her, his smile disappearing, replaced by a hint of guilt and anxiety. Keeping his head low for a couple of seconds, he then spoke again.

“It was my fault four years ago.”

Shen Chen could not help but scoffed at his apology. She had nothing to say anymore. It was just a little episode of her life back then.

She turned around, wanting to leave. But his hand caught onto her wrist firmly.

“Chen. Don’t go.”

Don’t go? What a joke! Was she just a pet to him?
