Chapter 3 Part 3

Yuan Guo got out of the bed. She took her outer robes and put it over her Young Miss.

It was bought after they sold the gold hairpin last night. The wedding dress was no longer suitable to be worn again, but this dress was also a bright red color.

Yuan Guo roughly understood how she felt.

As long as there was no news about the Master and Young Master, the Young Miss would not believe that the two really died on the battlefield with the soldiers. Therefore, they would not wear white clothes1 and did not have a reason to be afraid of their bad luck increasing.

She was a stubborn one.

“Yuan Guo, have the innkeeper send some hot water and breakfast. After we eat, we will leave.”

Xiao Youning put on her robes by herself. She got out of bed, went to the dresser, and began to comb her hair.

Yuan Guo sighed.

After Xiao Youning freshened up and had breakfast, she braced herself and went out. She began to look for the families who used to be close to her father and older brother.

“—Our Master did not return last night. We sincerely apologize, Young Miss Xiao.”

They closed the door with a bang. From early morning to midday, Xiao Youning could not recall how many doors had opened and closed in front of her.

“These people!”

Next to her, Yuan Guo was so angry that her face turned red and her hands were shaking.

Today they saw what was called “Humans emotions are thin2 and human hearts are indifferent3” everywhere.

Xiao Youning still looked very calm and slowly turned around from the tightly closed door.

She had prepared herself a long time ago for all kinds of excuses, so she wasn’t pretentious enough to scold them.

“Let’s go visit another family.”

The sun pinned her shadow to her feet. She continued pressing forward and thought that there was nothing impossible that she could not overcome.

After walking a couple steps, she saw a flower in front of her. She became weak at the knees and she almost fell over.

Yuan Guo was startled by her and hurried to help support the swaying little girl. “Young Miss, where do you feel uncomfortable? Let’s go back to the inn first.”

Otherwise, they would not be able to find someone to help and would end up making themselves ill first.

Xiao Young’s ears were buzzing and she nodded without any reluctance. She nodded and allowed Yuan Guo to support her as slowly walked back.

When they reached the main street, Yuan Guo wanted to hire a carriage to go back. Suddenly they heard a pleasantly surprised voice from behind them. “Youning! I found you at last!”

The master and servant turned around and were astonished to see the person that arrived.

The person that arrived was a man who looked less than 40 years old, and he came towards them with a smile on his face.

“Second uncle.” Xiao Youning did not call out until the man approaching was a moment away from her.

This man was the step-uncle who basically had no contact with her family.

When Second Master Xiao saw her, he took a deep breath and his smile seemed to become more relaxed.

“I finally found you. When I heard about the Li Family this morning, I came out to find you and have been looking for you until now. You should go to my home first. I’ve inquired about your father and brother’s situation yesterday. I wanted to go to the Li Family to find you today, but the Li Family actually acted so despicably.”

Xiao Youning listened to him in a daze.

When Second Master Xiao saw that she was still staring blankly, his smile became a little helpless. “Youning, I know you feel strange. Truthfully, many things are not what you think. My eldest brother and I didn’t have much of a choice. No matter what, we are all family. You should go home with your uncle first.”

“Second Uncle, have you heard of any news about my father and eldest brother?”

The dazed little girl finally opened her mouth. However, she asked about her father and brother instead of agreeing to follow him back.

Second Master Xiao sighed and stared at her pale face.”There won’t be any news so soon. Datong is far away from here, and the war reports that were urgently sent took a few days to arrive. I have already sent someone to inquire in person, so we must wait. There are also people in the palace paying attention to it.

I can go to Datong and find out what happened.

Xiao Youning suddenly looked up and a very bright light was bursting out from her dull pupils.

“Second Uncle, if I go with you, then I’m afraid I’ll only cause trouble. So, I’m not going.”

“Youning…”

Second Master Xiao frowned and said her name with a headache.

“But Youning4 has something to trouble Second Uncle to help with.” Xiao Youning felt that she had used the wrong method to gather information. Her father and brother had committed serious crimes, so who would help her, a little girl?

Since she couldn’t find any information in the capital, then she would just go to Datong herself!

Her father and brother were there; their lives were there and their deaths were there.

She had no use being in the capital, so she might as well go over there!

“Second Uncle, I want to go to Datong. Can you find a dependable person to help me and lead the way?” Xiao Youning’s eyes were more determined than before.

Second Master Xiao was shocked.

“You… want to go to Datong?”
