Second Marriage

Chapter 57.2

Prince Ah Mo had many things he wanted to accomplish as did Prince Ji Han. For Prince Ji Han, it was urgent for him to expand the strength of his mother’s tribe, which would help him become crown prince.

The two brothers were at odds with each other while they were inside Sifang Pavilion. They each had their own plans.

As soon as Prince Ji Han sat down, he asked his confidants to find out how many princesses the emperor had, how many were of the right age for marriage, and so on. He wanted to know the information before he was summoned so that he could find a way to please the princess at the banquet.

As long as he could marry a princess, he had a better chance at becoming the crown prince.

However, Prince Ah Mo ordered people to inquire about the Xiao Family.

“I heard that Marquis Ningyuan’s first daughter was divorced as soon as she got married, and she overpowered her divorced husband’s family. Go and secretly find out if Ning Yuanhou has decided on a marriage candidate for her.”

The confidant was surprised and said, “What does the prince mean? Why not inquire about the princesses? What does the daughter of the Marquis Ningyuan’s family have to do with us? The king wants you to marry one of Emperor Dazhao’s princesses to ensure that we have more time to recover.”

Prince Ah Mo laughed. “Do you think my father doesn’t know that the princesses of Dazhao will never marry for peace? Emperor Dazhao will not agree. What’s more, we are on the losing side of the war. But if she is the daughter of an official, has once been married, and I do not dislike her, then I will marry her. She will be the queen of my Wala in the future. That is also a glorious honor. Do you think Emperor Dazhao won’t consider it? He does not want to fight either.”

After thinking about it for a long time, the confidant felt that it was still not appropriate. “Marquis Ningyuan would not let his daughter marry a Wala. He hates us.”

“Then we will wait and see who’s right.”

Prince Ah Mo was full of confidence.

He had made inquiries about Marquis Ningyuan’s daughter earlier. She was very intelligent and would accept the marriage. If she could marry into the Wala, then it would be her chance to turn things around. Although it was far away from her homeland, the marriage to a prince was certainly more attractive than the son of an ordinary official.

And when she married, her father and brother would not have to go to war. Prince Ah Mo really thought he could persuade her.

Seeing that he was determined to do this, his confidant did not say much and made the arrangements secretly.

However, these princes did not know that they were in the palm of Ye Shen’s hand. No matter how careful they were, they could not hide from the eyes and ears of the Embroidered Uniform Guards.

The matter was reported to Ye Shen as soon as possible.

“Inquire about Marquis Ningyuan’s di daughter?” Ye Shen smirked at the words. The blood red string in his hand turned faster, and a red light was reflected in his eyes, just like blood.

Today, the emperor set up a special banquet for Marquis Ningyuan and his son, and it lasted until the sun set in the west.

Xiao Youning had sent a servant to wait for her father at the gate of the palace. When the servant saw the banquet coming to an end, he reported it to her.

She took her servants to the Marquis Residence, and when she arrived, her father and brother had returned on horseback.

Standing in front of her father’s horse, she smiled until her eyes curved. “Daddy, Brother, we are home!”

The father and son dismounted. They hugged her and walked with her to the residence that they had not set foot in for a long time. When the gate creaked open, their hearts were pounding and eyes felt misty.

Ye Shen did not stay in the palace tonight but returned to the magnificent mansion. He smiled and said to his mother, “Mother, Marquis Ningyuan is back. When will you visit him for your son?”

Old Madam Ye also smiled. “Really? What’s the hurry? I can’t let your father-in-law look down on you. Wait two days and your mother will help you take care of it.”

“There are only so many auspicious days left in the year,” he reminded her. Old Madam Ye was so amused that she laughed.

He calmly held the teacup and drank it. Then, he asked his mother, “Mother has read what was on the silk. Do you really want to put it off again?”

“Yes. Even though it is on the silk, mother still wants you to receive less criticism when you get married. We can discuss it again when you get married, which will be a better time than now. Marquis Ningyuan will probably agree with the way mother will handle things. I will explain it to him when the time comes.”

Ye Shen saw that she insisted on this and nodded. He was already thinking about how he needed to keep a closer eye on Prince Ah Mo since it would be two more days until the visit to the Marquis Residence.

When the Ye Family knew that Marquis Ningyuan returned, Eldest Madam Ye counted all the gifts she had prepared earlier, and was ready to follow her husband to Marquis Ningyuan’s Residence tomorrow.
