Chapter 8 Part 2

The sleeping Xiao Youning suddenly lost her support and her hands grabbed the empty air. Yuan Guo had already walked to the bed and put down the basin quickly to hold her Young Miss’s hand.

“Young Miss! Young Miss!”

Yuan Guo filled his position. Xiao Youning seemed to find a sense of security when she tightly held her hands. Her uneasiness into murmuring again.

Ye Shen lowered his eyes, then glanced at Yuan Guo. He withdrew from the room to be behind the screen.

About half an hour later, Jian Yin brought three doctors over. All of the doctors in the county town were invited by him.

Among the three doctors, there was the doctor who wrote the first prescription from earlier. Three people gathered around the bed. Together their age added up to be over a hundred years old. However they were unable to figure out a solution and looked at each other helplessly.

“I’m really sorry, but I only have that prescription and it is the most suitable for this illness.”

The doctor that had already come once cupped his hands to bow and took his leave.

The other two scrambled to be the first to say there was nothing they could do about it, so they both left.

Jian Yin couldn’t block their way even if he wanted to. His complexion did not look good.  He didn’t have a choice but to say to Ye Shen, “This is a small county town. Only these four people are good at medicine. They are all unwilling to treat this illness. I’m afraid there is no one else that will be willing to come.”

The eavesdropping employee at the door turned and ran down to say something to the innkeeper. Soon, the innkeeper personally came to them and said with embarrassment, “These guests, you have a seriously ill person here, and several doctors have been invited… We are businessmen and have to avoid taboos, you see…”

They went back and forth inviting one doctor after another and they still could not save her. This would certainly alarm the other guests.

What the innkeeper meant was that he could not let them stay here. Which inn would accept a person that’s about to die?!

Who would want to stay there in the future?

When Ye Shen heard that the innkeeper was driving them away, his face immediately grimaced. He was already a sharp-edged man, and his face was even more intimidating after it changed.

The innkeeper’s neck shrank under his cold eyes, but he still refused to back down. “This lord, please have mercy on my small business…”

With a shiiing, the long sword was unsheathed. Jian Yin’s cold blade pressed on the innkeeper’s neck. It frightened the innkeeper and he immediately kneeled.

“S-swordsman…” The innkeeper was so scared that he almost peed his pants, and his entire body  was shaking.

“Go and cool your Young Miss down as I said earlier. Then come downstairs in a quarter of an hour.”

Ye Shen didn’t even look at the innkeeper who was begging for mercy and went past him out of the room.

When Jian Yin saw him leave, he withdrew his sword with a snort. He twirled his sword before putting it back into the scabbard, and followed his Fifth Master out.

“Set up the carriage. We can go to the province capital overnight.”

Since the doctors here could not cure it, there was no point in spending time here.

Yuan Guo had tears in her eyes as she wiped Xiao Youning three times, dressed her and carried her downstairs. It was only when she was downstairs did she know that Ye Shen wanted them to go to the province capital.

Yuan Guo was so grateful that she thanked him again and again. When she was about to sit in the carriage, Ye Shen indifferently said, “Get out.”

“Huh?” The grateful Yuan Guo froze there.

Jian Yin lifted her back with one hand on her collar and dragged her out. He said, “My Master doesn’t like it when other people are in the carriage with him.”

“But my Young Miss!” She still had a high fever, and if she was not in there, how would the Young Miss be taken care of?!

The corners of Jian Yin’s mouth twitched. Oh, there’s someone inside.

But this girl should be different from what he said about other people. He could only glare at Yuan Guo and warn her, “If anything happens, then my Master will call for you. If he doesn’t call for you, then you stay outside!”

Yuan Guo wanted to say something else, but Jian Yin had swung the whip and she was afraid of being thrown off. She could only sit down on the shaft of the carriage and continuously look back.

In the carriage, Ye Shen was leaning to one side with an indifferent expression while watching the sleeping Xiao Youning.

Xiao Youning seemed to be restless at this time and was reaching out to find something. He hesitated for a moment. He turned his head, but his hand stretched forward.

Slap!

Instead of holding a soft hand in his palm, the back of his hand was burning with pain.

His hand was slapped away by Xiao Youning.

Ye Shen suddenly turned his head back to look at her. She unknowingly rolled over and curled up into a ball with her arms around herself. She continued to murmur faintly.

Ye Shen’s temples were pounding severely.

The author has something to say:

Ye Shen: Heh…

Xiao Youning: Why are you laughing like a creepy person?
