Chapter 9 Part 2

Xiao Youning slept for a day at the medical shop. Her body temperature slowly returned to normal. Once in a while she would have a low fever again, and couldn’t stop coughing.

The doctor said that the high fever had already gone down, and that it could be seen as a good sign. The frequent low fever was normal, and she would slowly recover if she took the medicine on time.

Jian Yin came over after he received the good news. He said that they had some important things to do and were going to return to the capital. They could not be delayed any longer and asked them to prepare for the journey.

Xiao Youning was very aware that Ye Shen’s had helped her a few times and did not have a reason to let them be delayed in their journey because of her anymore.  She didn’t ask him to wait and just said they would leave with them.

When they came out of the medical shop, Xiao Youning wanted to get on the horse, but was led to the back of a carriage by Jian Yin.

Jian Yin pointed to the driver and said, “I’ve hired a carriage for you.”

Xiao Youning looked at the strange driver and was confused. She heard the sound of the horses’ hooves digging to the ground in front of her before she realized that she had not thanked Ye Shen. However, she saw Jian Yin raising the whip to start urging the horses.

She could only give up, and did not try to delay them for another moment. She held Yuan Guo’s hand and climbed into the carriage.

When Jian Yin said to hurry, he really meant it

They were only two days away from the capital, but he had rushed forward so desperately that it made Xiao Youning feel even more sorry.

She seemed to have delayed some important things to them.

It was also at this time that Xiao Youning had time to remember about when she met Ye Shen.

According to Yuan Guo, Ye Shen had a Daoist name. so it must be true that he was a real Daoist Priest.

However, he had a martial artist by his side. They had gone on their journey for only a few days and were now rushing back to the capital. During this time, they did not come into contact with other people.

So what was this Daoist Priest doing when he left the capital? Was it a coincidence that he stayed in that village?

Recalling what happened in the village, Xiao Youning remembered that Jian Yin was driving a carriage when they left that night… They must have had a plan if they came by carriage. Did they also discover that there was something abnormal about the village beforehand?

The village was also set on fire. Did Jian Yin create the chaos in order to leave?

Xiao Youning suddenly realized she had ignored this problem for a long time. She frowned while thinking for a moment, and finally attributed it to Ye Shen and that they were aware of it.

At this thought, Xiao Youning felt that Ye Shen was more and more compassionate. Before she could finish saying everything she wanted to say, he didn’t disregard her and had brought her out of the village.

She must ask which Daoist Temple the Daoist Priest was in so she could go and thank him a lot when she returned to the capital!

However, what she did not expect was that along the way, and even when saw Ye Shen’s face, she was unable to say her thanks that she had been preparing for several days.

With the surrounding scenery becoming more and more familiar, Xiao Youning had already recognized that she had arrived near the northern suburbs of the capital. Soon, they would be able to enter the city.

Just as she was ready to return to the capital, the carriage had turned around a corner. When the carriage stopped, she found herself in front of a Daoist Temple. The plaque at the gate of the Daoist Temple said Qingfeng Daoist Temple. It was a very inconspicuous little Daoist Temple!

She had lived in the capital for so many years, but she had never heard of it, nor had she ever been here.

She was still looking out from inside of the carriage when Jian Yin had jumped off of the carriage. Then, she saw the familiar dark Daoist robe and his very clean shoes.

“Daoist Priest…” Xiao Youning quickly followed to get out of the carriage.

Unexpectedly, she only saw Ye Shen’s back. His legs and stride were so long that he had already entered the Daoist Temple’s gates. He had turned a corner and his figure could no longer be seen.

She stood where she was, shocked.

She couldn’t say thank you to him again.

Jian Yin took the wrapped baggage off of the carriage and turned his back to see them standing there foolishly. He said with some impatience, “You are not going to follow?”

Xiao Youning quickly responded and followed Jian Yin into the Daoist Temple.

After entering the Daoist Temple, she finally saw Ye Shen’s figure again. He was standing under a big tree that looked like it would take three people to circle around it into an embrace. In front of him was a person dressed as a Daoist Nun.

His head was lowered to listen to what she had to say.

Xiao Youning thought she had been mistaken. How could there be a Daoist Nun here?

" "

The Daoist Nun said a few words and then turned around to leave. Xiao Youning remembered what she was going to do and quickly ran over. Her body had not fully recovered yet. She began to cough after running a few steps. But Ye Shen had started walking when she had almost reached him, and it looked like he was going to leave again.

It would not be easy for her to see him again, so she could not be silent any more. In a hurry, she reached out and grabbed his robe’s wide sleeves.

The force was so strong that Ye Shen took half a step back. A pair of sharp peach blossom eyes that were accentuated by his straight eyebrows glanced at her.
