Ji Anning finished the admission process and hurriedly left the faculty registration point. As she walked, she checked her watch.

“Ji Anning.”

The second she set foot on the ground floor, a tall silhouette abruptly jumped in front of her and blocked her way.

“Ah!” Ji Anning was startled. Patting her chest, she furrowed her brows as she looked at the pretty girl, who was blocking her way in front of her, “Danning, you scared the wits out of me.”

It was Yang Danning, her friend from childhood.

They were the same age and were both at T University. But she was in her second year and a sophomore.

“Tsk. Why are you such a scaredy cat?” Yang Danning rolled her eyes at Ji Anning. She weighed her up, dissatisfactory, “It was your birthday yesterday. I said I wanted to celebrate it with you, but you simply refused to come out. Do you know how angry I am?”

“Danning, I’m sorry,” she said, lowering her head apologetically, she pursed her lips bitterly.

She wanted to have a simple birthday celebration with her friend too. If she did, the nightmare last night would not have taken place.

The thought of it now still left her body quivering. She honestly wished last night had been nothing but a nightmare.

“At least you know you owe me,” Yang Danning acted as though she was pouting angrily. Then she lowered her head and fished an exquisite little box out of the large hemp bag on her shoulder. She handed it to Ji Anning, “Here. Although I’m pissed, I already bought a present. It’d be a waste to throw it away.”

She raised her chin, looking both proud, and it was charity. But Ji Anning beamed, “Danning, thanks.”

She thanked Yang Danning gratefully. Then she reached out and took the present from her hand in an uncontentious manner.

Raising her chin, Yang Danning pretended to sulk hard and seem angry. She looked at Ji Anning, “If you’re thankful, then give me a treat.”

“Sure thing,” Ji Anning quickly nodded her head. Then twitched her lips helplessly at her, “But not today. Pick another day.”

“Can you be more sincere?” frowned Yang Danning. Utterly exasperated, she reached out to poke Ji Anning on her forehead hard, “What are you up to this time?”

As though she were used to it.

“What else could I be doing?” Ji Anning twitched her lips. She lowered her head to gaze at the beautiful little box. Adoringly she hugged it with both hands, she rubbed the box gently with her thumb.

At the capital, this was her only friend that cared about her. She remembered her birthday each year. After each holiday family gathering, she would secretly come to drag her out and hang out.

She treasured her even more.

Yang Danning frowned and confidently asked “Ji Anning, are you working as a set extra again?”

Her voice always sounded loud. Now that she was a little angry, her voice was booming. Ji Anning hurried to cover her mouth, “Keep it down.”

She peered around to see if anyone was near before uncovering Yang Danning’s mouth.
