Chapter 86: Wake Up Already

“Well then, let’s go.”

It was the day after Isla had suffered from the effects of ASMR, and Leanne informed him of the aftermath and the potential events to come.

Until leaving the dormitory, Kanata was feeling a bit jittery.

Although there was no clear indication or noticeable sensation that Isla’s magic had been undone, Kanata couldn’t help but be slightly wary now that there was a greater chance of being exposed as Haishin in certain circumstances.

“… Well, I did have some thoughts about Maria and Alphana, but it does seem strange if things don’t turn out that way.”

Kanata nodded, admitting that he had been a bit naive.

However, he didn’t mean to keep them away from him until Isla woke up.

He couldn’t resort to forcefully distancing them just to protect his secret, considering that they had already expressed their feelings to him and they had done so much to help him. In light of that, he couldn’t employ a method that would alienate them.

“I might get called naive, but I’m just a kid after all. In the end, things will turn out the way they’re meant to.”

Kanata chuckled.

Leanne had also mentioned it when she left, but being overly sensitive would only tire him out.

While the magic had indeed come undone, just having a good relationship with Maria and Alphana wouldn’t necessarily lead to others thinking he was Haishin.

Ultimately, there was no evidence to definitively conclude that Kanata was Haishin.

“Oh, thinking that way has put my mind at ease.”

Of course, it was important to remain cautious.

With this renewed mindset, Kanata stepped into the academy and headed straight to the classroom.

“Kanata!”

“Oh, hey there.”

The moment he entered the classroom, a soft sensation swept away all the commotion around him. Only one person had such a voice and would suddenly cling to him like this—Anise, a new source of worry for Kanata.

“Good morning, Kanata… Is something troubling you?”

“… No.”

It seemed those observant enough could easily tell just by looking at Kanata. It was somewhat surprising that Anise noticed it before Maria or Alphana, but she had indeed pursued Kanata all the way from the Empire, so it was to be expected.

Moreover, despite Kanata being in the midst of various worries, Anise’s unchanged demeanour somehow helped ease the tension on his shoulders.

“Haha… Anise, you really haven’t changed. Even though you just arrived here.”

“…”

Feeling the tension ease, Kanata smiled a little.

Anise widened her eyes for a moment, then suddenly looked down, her earlier enthusiasm diminishing slightly.

Inevitably, with things turning out this way, it was only natural for Alphana, who was in the same class, to come closer to Kanata.

“Kanata-sama, may I have a moment?”

“Huh? Oh, uh… Sure.”

However, she seemed different from her usual self, who always greeted him with a smile in the morning.

Anise also seemed to sense the atmosphere and distanced herself from Kanata but still seemed determined to stick around.

As Leanne had warned, they immediately attracted some attention, but the fact that it was a scene that hadn’t changed much from before seemed to have taken root in their classmates’ minds.

“Is it okay here?”

They moved away from the noise… Well, they just moved to a corner of the classroom.

Alphana activated magic to block their voices from being overheard or seen as suspicious, allowing Kanata, Alphana and Anise to have a conversation.

“Actually, this morning… No, I should say last night. The Goddess appeared in my dream.”

“R-really?”

“Yes.”

“??”

It seemed Alphana had heard directly from Isla about what was happening to Kanata in the form of a dream. She had already shared this information with Maria, who was in a different class, so Kanata didn’t need to explain it again.

“I see. You guys did appear together in a stream once, and considering that, it’s not surprising for people to suspect Kanata, who is close to a man of similar height. Honestly, I thought it was odd how familiar you were during the banquet as well.”

Indeed, there were others who shared Anise’s thoughts.

Still, the fact that their thoughts had momentarily come to a halt was Isla’s doing, and although she had her own problems as a goddess, it was certain she had helped Kanata in ways he didn’t know about.

“… I should express my gratitude. It seems like she was worried about me, despite everything.”

By the way, Leanne had told him that expressing gratitude to Isla wasn’t necessary. Although Kanata had questioned that, he decided to thank her when they met after her recovery.

“But… Well, naturally, I also heard the cause. The ASMR that we experienced, I never expected even the Goddess to be affected like that.”

“Well, I didn’t think it would go this far either. I mean, ASMR does give you that tingling sensation on your back, but it shouldn’t go to that extent, right?”

In Kanata’s memory, ASMR didn’t have that kind of power.

There were even sleep ASMR videos meant to be relaxing, nothing more than a slightly pleasant feeling.

“… But I kind of understand, you know?”

“Huh?”

“Hmm?”

Anise interjected, resting her chin on her hand.

“At that time, during the mock battle, I felt like Kanata was delivering the finishing blow to me… Oh. Is it okay to talk about this indelicate topic, Saint-sama?”

“It’s fine.”

“Good. Then I’ll speak openly.”

With that said, Anise continued.

“The pleasure that the listener would most likely feel, or rather, the sensation that the brain readily accepts, is converted in such a way… And on top of that, it’s whispered by our beloved Kanata… So, it’s only natural that the lower abdomen would ache and become soaking wet, right?”

Anise’s words left nothing to the imagination.

It was true that Kanata had noticed Anise’s body trembling, but he never expected it to go to that extent.

“… When I played it for Isla, I used specialized equipment for ASMR. Maybe that increased its impact compared to when Anise listened to it.”

“It seems so.”

“Huh? More than that?”

Although Alphana seemed to already know from her conversation with Isla, it was news to Anise, and she appeared quite intrigued. Her gaze fixed on Kanata was filled with hearts as if she wanted to listen to it right away.

“Anyway, until the Goddess recovers, it seems we need to be careful about various things.”

“That’s right.”

“It’s a pity. Not being able to embrace Kanata-sama or enjoy the sensation of his well-developed chest… And we can’t have secret rendezvous or such things either. It’s quite frustrating.”

“Alphana-san?”

It seemed Alphana had no intention of hiding things from Anise. She openly talked about it, almost provoking Anise, which was unusual for Alphana.

“The Kingdom’s Holy Maiden is renowned for her overflowing compassion… But it seems that’s how it turns out when love is involved, right? But I like that.”

“I expected you to say that, Anise-san.”

“Ufufu ♪.”

And once again, Alphana and Anise found common ground.

After such exchanges, their usual academy life resumed. However, it was clear that simply going about things, as usual, wouldn’t resolve everything.

If they were to return to Kanata’s hometown in their current state, it would be a different story, but there were no plans for that, nor was there anything to be done about it.

“Sigh…”

It seemed that as long as they lived as students without causing any trouble, there wouldn’t be any issues.

Kanata continued to demonstrate magic in class as he usually did, occasionally drawing jealous glances. Even with Anise sticking close to him, nothing seemed to have changed.

They could only hope that things would stay that way…

Until Isla woke up, just a few more days remained.
