The Dragon of Dreams

Chapter 133: A Mistake in Judgement

Late Morning - Mid Summer : Cirillo Knight Academy

*BANG*

After grabbing his head, Rhodes flipped Otis over onto his back and slammed him into the ground.

-How the fu..- My mind blanked seeing Rhodes flip a 53 meter dragon by the face with 1 hand without magic. -What a monster..-

"Alright! The winner is Rhodes!" Several of the knights started cheering while others looked a bit disappointed.

"Hey man, I can get you your winnings if you want." The knight that placed my bet glanced back at me.

"Ah, I don't need it so just distribute it to the other knights that won their bets."

The knight just blankly stared at me. "What rich family did you come from?"

"Haha, I placed the bet for fun, money isn't a problem for me."

"Well, I guess I'll just tell them to distribute it then.." He looked a bit distraught for some reason.

-He's getting some of it too so shouldn't he be happy?-

After he talked and did a bit of explaining to the winnings distributors, they made a little announcement saying each knight who bet on Rhodes would get a couple gold.

The knights started cheering and asking who gave out the money but I was already long gone.

After they finished the spar, I walked out and talked to Rhodes who was helping up Otis. "Hey Rhodes, I was wondering if I could use that half of the clearing?" I pointed to the far side of the field.

"Yeah, that should be fine.. are you new here?"

"Ah right, I guess I should introduce myself. I'm Vasilias Whyte, I got permission from Orion Cirillo to spar here with my Fenrir to train. I figured I should still ask if I could take up such a huge section though."

"Oh, you know my brother?"

-That's why they looked similar..- "Yeah, although I can't go into details, we happen to know each other. He's in that little office building just inside the entrance if you'd like to talk to him."

"Oh so he came back. Well in any case, you're free to use the field. The training I'm giving the knights today won't take up much space."

"Sweet, thanks!" Giving a little wave to Rhodes, Ilios jumped off my head and darted across the field with me.

We didn't waste any time and started our spar as we ran there.

-Im gonna win today!-

- Rhodes Cirillo ~

"Oh nice. Well in any case, you're free to use the field. The training Im giving the knights today won't take up much space."

"Sweet, thanks!"

As soon as he gave a small farewell, Vasilias let his Fenrir off his head and dashed into the field.

-Hm, he's quite fast..- Not paying much attention to him, I turned back to the knights.

"Alright you rich dumba*ses, finish distributing the bet winnings and get in line!" -I wonder what idiot put a platinum on that bet..-

As I was thinking to myself and waiting for the knights to finish up, the ground started shaking a bit.

*Th-th-th-th-th-th-thud*

-What the..- I slowly turned around to see the source and saw Vasilias and his 'fenrir' doing an agility spar.

-That's faster than me!- A curious smile came to my face as I watched him dart around.

He was constantly getting tripped up and falling over but he recovered nearly instantly and sprung back faster each time.

As I watched for a bit longer, I noticed he started getting a tad faster and his movements started becoming smoother.

"Since when was a monster like that around?" Otis was next to me watching the spar in awe as well.

"Im.. not sure.." -That seems to be his top speed though..-

After watching for a bit, the knights started watching as well.

"Can you guys even follow them?" A knight in the crowd spoke, breaking the silence.

"No.."

"Nah."

"Not even close.."

Three other knights who were watching the fight in a trance, trying to follow along simply couldn't.

*Thud*

Grabbing my attention again, I noticed Vasilias had come to a hard stop.

He stood there and just blankly stared at his leg for a bit before lifting it up and moving it around a bit.

-Did he hurt himself?-

As I was getting ready to run out and check on him, his blank look turned into a joyous smile.

"So I can do that!!" He yelled out as he moved his weight around on his foot and resumed the fight.

It was only an instant before he got back up to his freakishly fast speeds but this time, he didn't stop speeding up.

-Wh..what?!-

As I watched him progressively get faster, a deafening rumble like nothing I had ever heard filled the air.

It was so loud that Otis and I had to use silencing magic around all of the knights. Thankfully, we managed to put up the barrier before the real shockwave hit.

*CRACK*

A shockwave so loud it blasted straight through our magic hit like a tidal wave.

All of the knights who were watching the fight in a trance fell to the ground and tried to plug their ears.

Thankfully the magic still muffled it. The part of my body that I didn't cover in the barrier felt like it got a full body massage.

Noticing the shockwave passed and it had quieted down again, I released the barrier and sat down.

I looked back towards Vasilias who was now moving at his previous top speed completely casually and with a childish smile.

“Haah..” -What a monster..- After watching him for a bit longer, I figured we should probably start our training. -If we don't start now we wont keep schedule..- "Alright! All you, so-called-knights! How about a challenge?”

Some of the knights' demeanors visibly darkened. ‘Oh no’ written all over their faces.

“How about we do some limit training until he finishes sparring over there? 50 Silver to everyone who completes it!" Although we normally didn't practice at our limits for more than an hour or two, I figured that was a safe bet. -He probably can't hold that speed for long anyways.-

Hearing the silver as a reward for the challenge, the mood quickly lightened up and the knights all wore competitive smiles.

Little did we all know then, the little 'challenge' that I figured would make for an easy and rewarding training day would turn into a monumentally difficult one.

After around an hour, the guys were starting to get a bit tired but they managed to keep their pace up.

Another hour after that, when we would normally stop training, the guys started to get pretty sluggish.

During the next hour, the knight's stamina started hitting rock bottom. Most of them had collapsed from exhaustion and those that continued were gasping for breath.

One of the few knights still training that was completely exhausted pointed behind me. "Ca..cap..tain.. he.. hah.. stopped.." As soon as he finished, the knight collapsed.

Looking out towards the field, I saw Vasilias lightly catching his breath while petting his fenrir.

I couldn't help but watch the scene in awe. -How.. He isn't even that tired..-
