Chapter 37 - “Don’t just drink, have a bite to eat too.” (1)

Chu Qianli was very energetic in between classes and started her work. There was a string of nonstop people coming over to her desk. Some were in line for a reading; others were just gathering around to see what was going on.

Tan Muxing was taking down information next to Chu Qianli and Qiu Qingkong stood to the side to disperse the people. She said loudly, “Please do not listen in if you don’t have an appointment. Please be respectful to others’ privacy and not gather around here……”

“Can’t I just be curious and listen in?”

“If you are curious about astrology, make you own appointed.” Qiu Qingkong went on to explain, “But our customers would not like it when you listen in either. Many of their questions are personal.”

Others wanted to observe Chu Qianli performing a reader but they were waved away by Qiu Qingkong. They tried to peek from afar.

A little while later, Tan Muxing pulled out his sewing kit and turned strings and a dark purple velvet cloth into curtains and hung them up, blocking Chu Qianli and her customer behind them. That way the others would not be able to see them.

Their seats were already in the back of the classroom. All he needed to do was to remove them before the next class and it would be like nothing had happened.

As the others were not able to observe, they left sulkily.

Chu Qianli was carrying out her astrology duties. Looking at the girl in front of her, she asked in a friendly manner, “So you are looking for astrology divination, right?”

“Yes, I heard that this will provide the most accurate information and I can ask just about anything.”

Chu Qianli nodded and said, “That’s right. Astrological dice and tarot are mostly for short-term events. Astrology divination can see further into the future.”

“In ancient divinations, stars are divided up into good-luck and bad-luck ones. That’s not exactly the case but we can apply that logic into seeing the outcome of events.”

The girl looked at Chu Qianli, not exactly getting everything that she was saying. She looked at a loss.

Chu Qianli asked, “So what is your question?”

“Well, I love watching e-sports competitions and there is this team that I follow. They have an important competition coming up but I am already exhausted from applying to colleges recently. So I want to see if I can find out the outcome of the game ahead of time. I’ll go and watch them if they win; otherwise, I am not going to make a special trip to watch them. It will put me in a bad mood afterward…

“If they lost when I was watching them live, I’m afraid I will be crushed and wouldn’t even be able to focus on my school work after my return,” said the girl helplessly.

Chu Qianli had no idea what e-sports were so she asked tentatively, “This is a competition you are talking about, right?”

“Right.”

“Chu Qianli looked at the time and asked, “Do you remember the time and location when this question occurred to you?”

The girl was baffled. “Oh? What do you mean by that?”

Chu Qianli explained mildly, “I need to draft a chart. There are two ways to do it. One way is to use the time and location when you asked me the question. Two is use the time and location when the question occurred to you. The second option being more accurate than the first.”

Within China, there are other numerology such as Qi Men, Liu Ren that also entail drafting of charts. The way the astrologists start their draft vary. In Arabia and India, astrologists will use the time and location when the questions are presented to them. Others believe that the time and location when it occurred to the inquirer should be used.

The girl was enlightened. “Oh, oh, oh. I get it now. Let me check my phone log. The idea occurred to me when I was chatting with a friend of mine yesterday. The location was my home……”

Chu Qianli looked at the time and location and started on the chart.

“Hmm, it looks like neither team will perform very well but basically your team will lose.”

Chu Qianli scratched her head and suggested kindheartedly. “I think you can skip it. Not only will your team lose, it won’t be a very good game either. It will most likely upset you and make you feel that you have wasted your money.”

“Ouch,” said the girl numbly. “Truth is I have been feeling that I have been spending too much money on this recently and also starting to feel bored by it. That is why I am here right now.”

“Any other questions?” asked Chu Qianli.

“Oh, do you know how they lose? My team should be slightly stronger than their opponent. They shouldn’t have done so poorly.”

Chu Qianli stared at the chart for a long while and said, “I don’t understand the rounds and rules of these types of competitions. Basically, someone made a fatal mistake sometime during the middle of the second half of the game. They will not be able to recover from that.”

Chu Qianli has the ability to capture the traits and information of the future but, if she didn’t know the area well enough, she would not be able to provide the exact terms. Much like she wasn’t able to call out “bitcoin” but she was able to describe the characteristics of it.

“Oh, I see. I get it now. I have no further questions.”

“Okay. You are welcome to provide us with feedbacks in the future.” Chu Qianli lifted up the curtain and pointed at Tan Muxing. “You can provide the feedback to him. Thank you and come again.”

The girl was taken aback a little. “You have after service too? Sounds so formal.”
