Chapter 068 - “I thought it was a video on astrology; turned out it was about recruitment.” (4)

Granted, she had already been doing so persistently for three months. She had dreamt a lot but still no job.

She had no idea whether divination or tarot cards could see into the future but she surely enjoyed watching divination videos while she ate.

The outcome of Zhou Qiang watching massive number of divination videos for three months in a row, now the only thing that she could see on her front page were divination videos and most of them she had already watched. She clicked open the “What good things would happen in [month]?” video and decided that would be the one she watch during lunch today.

Surprising, there were two divinators in the video. Granted, neither one of them showed their faces but one could tell them apart from their voices. The one who appeared first claimed that she was a disciple in divination and she stressed that the video had an expiration date. It would be void after the time period. That was very different than other videos on the platform.

Zhang Qiang looked at the date and realized that her timing was perfect. This happened to be the beginning of the period.

The real divinator was the second person. The disciple referred to her as “Teacher” even though they seemed to be around the same age.

“They have cross talk in divination videos now? They need two people for this?” Zhang Qiang started slurping on her snail rice noodles. There was nobody else other than her in the dormitory so she could thoroughly enjoy her delicacy.

Four options popped up in the video and have the viewers picked according to their gut feelings. Zhang Qiang randomly picked one and it skipped to the next video. She wanted to see what they were going to say.

The divinator had already flipped over the tarot cards in the video with alacrity. She had delicate and pretty ornaments on her hand and she started explaining in a very clear and organized fashion. “We are close to solstice and that conjunct with Aries and contrary to moon of Libra. Some people will be rewarded and others defeated. Everybody hope that they will be rewarded for their effort……”

Zhang Qiang couldn't help but retorted, “That was like saying absolutely nothing.”

This video was slightly different than the others. It didn’t start with interpretation of the cards, which was why Zhang Qiang was dumbfounded.

Sure enough, the divinator Segway from celestial phenomenon to the interpretation of the cards.

“Nevertheless, those of you who chose this set of cards need not worry. Your hard work will come to fruition this month. The beginning might be difficult to make through but you will receive good news toward the end of this month to the beginning of next month. Most of them will be work- or school-related. Perhaps you will receive notifications that you have gotten into the universities that you have been looking forward to or land yourself a good employment. That being said, that does not mean that it will all be smooth sailing……”

“I will consider landing a job to be smooth sailing.” Zhang Qiang was just about to turn off the video when she heard a chime from her cellphone. She turned and picked up her phone while leaving her iPad running.

She saw a text inviting her to an interview. She was delighted and started verifying it in disbelief.

Did her dream carry into real life and in broad daylight at that?

The divinator was still going on in the video, “The energy from the Libra moon could put one in a difficult position. Perhaps you will receive many good news, but the power of from the bombardment would daze you and make you have a hard time making a decision. Perhaps you will be accepted to multiple schools and won’t know which one to choose. This card also represents that you worry that you will make the wrong decision……”

Zhang Qiang had yet to put down her phone before she received another interview notification. This one was from a well-known factory.

Nevertheless, the times of the interview for the two companies conflicted and they were quite a bit of distance from each other, rendering it impossible for her to make both on the same day.

Zhang Qiang looked up at the video after she finished reading the texts. She looked dazed, “?” This was a bit metaphysical?

Zhang Qiang placed her phone back onto the table. She felt that she had been slapped on her face. She had just said that landing a job would be considered smooth-sailing and, sure enough, she was now stuck in a difficult dilemma!

She started contemplating how to manage her time. She wondered if she could communicate with HR to rearrange the appointment time.

She even wondered if the HR departments were cohorts with the divinator. How did they all text at the same time?

Suddenly, her phone chimed one more time, as though it was going straight for her soul!

Zhang Qiang, “? ? ?”

Zhang Qiang was very delighted when she received her first text, but the smile on her began to fade by the third one. This was from a company that she was particularly fond of and somehow the time was also conflicted!

Divinator, “This set of cards tell us about both opportunities and challenges. You will receive good news early next month; however, if you let the opportunities pass you by or did not balance your choices wisely, you can plummet into extreme frustration toward the end of this month. Your main goal this month is to somehow achieve a balance……”

Zhang Qiang was short of dropping onto her knees right then and there. She was a total believer now. She pleaded, “Oh, grandmaster. I don’t have to wait till the end of the month, I am already in extreme frustration now!”

First, she was frantic that she had no interviews; now she was frantic that she had too many of them!

Zhang Qiang’s cellphone finally quieted down.

Her roommate entered at this moment and asked Zhang Qiang in surprise, who was kneeling on the chair, “What are you doing?”

Zhang Qiang, “I am apologizing to the grandmaster on my knees.”

Roommate, “?”

Roommate, “Oh right, didn’t you say you are still looking for a job? A senior of mine is looking to add a team member on her project. I’ve heard that the pay is pretty well but I have already landed a job back home. I told her that I will ask you about it. Are you interested?”

Upon hearing her roommate’s words, Zhang Qiang stood up numbly and had it all figured out. “I get it now. The video that I was watching was posted to the wrong section……”

“What were you watching earlier? Some television shows?”

“No, it’s a divination video but turned out to be a head-hunting video.” Zhang Qiang started browsing the detail description on the poster of the video and added, “This video was much more reliable than the career planning sessions in college.”
