Chapter 075 - He needs their parents to come and take care of their own child. (3)

Perhaps there really was something wrong with Yu Shen’s health. She needed to have a small surgery after her examinations and had to be hospitalized for a few days.

Chu Qianli learned from her reading that Yu Shen’s illness was not life-threatening and she only needed to rest up for a little while. She would occasionally go to visit Yu Shen after school and talk about meaningless little things, using visiting her mother as the excuse to not do her homework.

Yu Shen and He Zhenghe knew what she was doing but never called her out on it. They felt that it was not good to not study but Chu Qianli was masterful at distraction and would always manage to distract them.

They’ve noticed that their daughter has the ability to wipe away people’s memories. She would talk and talk and they would forget about their original topic.

He Shichen noticed that something was off at home quickly. One reason being that Chu Qianli had really been behaving herself lately and second was that he hadn’t run into Yu Shen for a while. That made him felt suspicious.

He Shichen glanced over at the shoe rack at home, frowned, and asked, “Aunty Li, where’s my mom?”

Aunty Li mumbled with a guilty conscience, “Em……”

He Shichen, “What have she been up to lately? How come I haven’t seen her in a while?”

He Shichen had been coming home at 10 o’clock at night recently and hadn’t been having dinner with his family. He would still run into Chu Qianli and He Zhenghe from time to time but hadn’t seen Yu Shen. He specifically came home early today and still didn’t seen his mother.

Yu Shen purposefully had those at home to keep this from He Shichen but Aunty Li finally told He Shichen the truth under his questioning.

He Shichen immediately went over the hospital after he had found out the truth and, at the same time, felt that this was ridiculous. Why would he bother with the competition when his mother has to undergo a surgery? He didn’t need the extra credits and he knew what was more important to him.

He Shichen quickly found his mother’s patient room after he had arrived at the hospital.

The door to the room was ajar and there were warm light coming out of the room.

He Shichen had rushed all the way over and, right when he was about to knock and go inside, he saw what was going on inside and stopped on his track.

Inside the patient room, Chu Qianli was leaning on the bed chatting with Yu Shen. Her overacting and waving of her arms made Yu Shen chuckled nonstop. He Zhenghe clapped happily at what Chu Qianli was saying.

That was truly the sight of a loving family. It was everything nice and pretty in this world.

He felt that he should not go in and interrupt them.

He Shichen was at loss.

He never believed in emotions and insisted that relationships were only built on benefits. Nevertheless, even when Chu Qianli’s bizarre ability failed to break him, the sight in front of him had somehow became the last straw on the camel’s back.

He felt that Chu Qianli was foolish in a naïve way as were Yu Shen and He Zhenghe.

It was dangerous for them to keep him around.

They were a happy family of three and him, the ugly intruder, not needed by this family.

He Shichen had been trying to talk himself through this the entire but had suddenly made his decision. He didn’t know where he belonged but he didn’t think that he should stick around.

With the knocking and He Shichen walking into the patient room, Yu Shen and the others all looked surprised.

Yu Shen smiled bitterly, “Ah, I didn’t think we could fool you. We didn’t want to distract you from your competition.”

“I don’t need the two extra points,” said He Shichen, looking normal. Then, he said, worried, “You still need to have a surgery?”

“Just a minor one. She can go home right after that. Really won’t take that much time.” He Zhenghe added next to them. “She will be going home next week.”

He Shichen looked better after he heard that. Then, glancing over at Chu Qianli who was hiding in the corner, he asked casually, “Have you finished your homework assignments yet?”

Chu Qianli put her hand over her mouth with her fingers sticking out and chuckled, “I am watching the stars tonight and won’t have time for homework.”

He Shichen called her out, “It’s not even dark outside yet. What can you possibly be looking at?”

Both Yu Shen and He Zhenghe giggled from that.

Yu Shen, “He is right. Go home with your big brother, Qianli. Dad will stay here with me. You can’t spend all your time at the hospital.”

Yu Shen felt that it wasn’t a good thing for her daughter to spend all of her time at the hospital and keeping her away from her other responsibilities.

Chu Qianli tsked disgruntledly.

Finally, He Zhenghe stayed behind and Chu Qianli rode home with He Shichen.
