Yu Ning’s hug caught Ji Mingxia off guard and his entire body froze.

He stretched out his hands, but was unsure whether to return the hug or not.

Just then, Pei Yuan, Yan Guang and the other staff were already going to the security check.

A staff member from the special department called out to Yu Ning.

With that final sentence to Ji Mingxia, Yu Ning took his documents and turned towards the entrance.

People came and went inside the airport, and Yu Ning’s figure quickly disappeared in the crowd.

Ji Mingxia suddenly felt hollow as he watched Yu Ning disappear from view.

It wasn’t until he was sure that he could not see Yu Ning’s figure anymore that he came back to his senses.

The corner of his eyes faintly saw a flash of red light and Ji Mingxia hurriedly lifted his hand up. He was stunned to see a ring hanging loosely on his finger.

He was fully focused on Yu Ning’s hug earlier and he did not feel the abnormality on his hand.

As if the ring was conscious, it gradually tightened and changed from its original loose state to fit on his ring finger.

As the blood-red ring shrank, a faint dark light surged through it, forming a stark contrast to Ji Mingxia’s skin.

On Yu Ning’s hand, the ring formed a strong contrast that was striking to the human eye.

On Ji Mingxia’s hand, however, it looked inexplicably more delicate.

Ji Mingxia was already white, and the ring made his fingers look even more slender and delicate.

Ji Mingxia simply thought he was seeing things wrong as he felt the cool touch of the ring.

Wasn’t this Yu Ning’s blood red ring? Why was it in his hand?

Ji Mingxia was startled, and his first reaction was to take it off and return it to Yu Ning.

However, the ring had tightened to fit perfectly on his finger, and no matter how much he pulled it, the ring did not move, and could not be taken off.

“What did Yu Ning say to you?” Bao Guangyuan came over at this point and asked with curiosity.

When Yu Ning turned back and hugged Ji Mingxia in his arms, he attracted the attention of almost everyone around.

It couldn’t be helped, Yu Ning’s looks were just too special.

He was tall, good-looking, and with such strange eyes.

People would normally be attracted to him but not dare to get close to him. However, they couldn’t help but give him a second glance.

In addition, Ji Mingxia looked good as well. Such an ambiguous hug as a farewell at the airport was simply too interesting!

However, Bao Guangyuan knew how scary Yu Ning was, so when Yu Ning and Ji Mingxia hugged, he only took one look and hurriedly averted his gaze.

It was only after confirming that Yu Ning had entered the security check and was out of sight that he could not help but come over and ask.

Seeing Ji Mingxia staring at his finger, Bao Guangyuan followed his gaze and saw the blood-red ring on his hand. “Isn’t this Yu Ning’s ring? Did Yu Ning confess his love to you?”

Ji Mingxia hurriedly hid his hand behind his back, “No, no, no, you’re getting it wrong.”

Bao Guangyuan noticed Ji Mingxia’s flustered look and he quickly said in a kind and understanding manner, “It’s alright, I understand.”

“You don’t understand.” Ji Mingxia said.

“No, it’s okay, then I understand.” Bao Guangyuan said again with understanding.

“No, you don’t understand.” Ji Mingxia hurriedly said.

Seeing that Bao Guangyuan was still looking at himself with a meaningful smile, Ji Mingxia realised that Bao Guangyuan had already seen it all and that it was ineffective to cover it up like this.

Ji Mingxia then brought his hand back up and continued his attempts of pulling the ring off.

His fingers became a little red and swollen, but the ring still didn’t move so he could only give up for the time being.

He retrieved his mobile phone from his bag and wanted to call Yu Ning since he had not yet taken off.

But the phone remained black even after pressing it several times. It seems that it has long since run out of battery.

Not only was his phone dead, but Yu Ning’s phone was dead as well.

Pei Yuan’s phone was on, but Ji Mingxia didn’t get his phone number!

Thinking of this, Ji Mingxia helplessly put down his phone and said to the Bao Guangyuan who was still looking at him. “There was no confession, you are thinking too much. Maybe Yu Ning made a mistake.”

“How can this be called a mistake? He obviously meant to give it to you ah.” Bao Guangyuan said.

Seeing that Ji Mingxia had lowered his head and didn’t say anything, as if he didn’t have the joy of being confessed to, and even had a face full of complications, Bao Guangyuan had the sense to shut his mouth and keep quiet.

When leaving the airport, Ji Mingxia used his cash to buy a power bank and then took a taxi back to Quanzhuang hotel together with Bao Guangyuan.

On the way, Ji Mingxia kept staring at the ring in disbelief.

He had prepared himself for the separation since Yu Ning was going to the capital and would go through the plot with Pei Yuan. Unexpectedly, Yu Ning had actually slipped him a ring before he left and coincidentally, it was on his ring finger!

Thinking back to what Yu Ning said about “see you at school”, Ji Mingxia couldn’t help but wonder, ‘Yu Ning wouldn't be coming back in a few days, would he?’

Come to think of it, although they had finished their entrance exams, they hadn’t filled out their forms, nor had they attended the senior graduation ceremony. They hadn’t even picked up their high school diplomas ……

Thinking of this, Ji Mingxia felt annoyed, and a faint smile rose.

Ji Mingxia hurriedly suppressed his joy. He had just separated from Yu Ning and was already looking forward to seeing him again.

Before the security check, Yu Ning sat with him for a long time but his mind was filled with the thought that he and Yu Ning would have to go their separate ways in the future. He was afraid that his emotions would be exposed if he opened his mouth, so didn’t open his mouth to ask Yu Ning about his next plans and intentions.

‘I should have asked at that time, then I wouldn’t be speculating Yu Ning’s thoughts now.’

After about ten minutes of charging, Ji Mingxia’s phone could finally be turned on.

After a few days of not turning it on, the phone was immediately filled with countless messages. Whether it was missed calls, unchecked text messages, QQ messages, WeChat messages, etc., all popped up at once.

Ji Mingxia ignored all of them and found the address book first. He couldn’t wait to call Yu Ning’s number.

As expected, Yu Ning’s phone was still switched off.

The plane would take off in half an hour, and it would be nighttime when they arrived in the capital. So Yu Ning wouldn’t necessarily remember to charge his phone when he arrived in a new place.

He had to wait until he went to bed before trying to call again.

As he pondered, his left hand, which was wearing the ring, swipes at his phone unconsciously.

He was a boy, and apart from the bracelet he had worn when he was a week old, he hadn’t worn any jewellery since.

The sudden addition of a ring on his left ring finger, even when he was swiping his phone, felt novel.

His heart beat faster at the thought that it was Yu Ning who had put the ring on him.

This vague heartbeat, mixed with uncertainty about the future, along with the various settings and plots of this world intermingled in his mind, making his brain go into a mess.

That is, until he saw the dozens of missed calls on his phone’s call log.

At first, Ji Mingxia thought the missed calls were from his roommates, so he did not rush to click in.

Only after he had finished reading all the QQ, WeChat and other messages did Ji Mingxia click into the call log.  To his surprise, the person who had called him the most in the past few days was actually his grandmother.

Ji Mingxia was shocked and he sat up straight, staring at the call log on his phone screen.

He and the original owner had crossed into each other’s parallel lives. Except for the characters related to the plot of the novel, everything else in this world was more or less the same as his original life.

His parents had died, and the original owner’s parents had also died .

The original owner also had a grandmother as the only family he had in this world.

Ji Mingxia had crossed over right before the college entrance examination.

Because the college entrance exams were coming up, many parents of students who stayed in school didn’t disturb them much so that they would concentrate, and so did the original owner’s grandmother.

The original owner had already paid the money for the holiday at Quanzhuang hotel by the time Ji Mingxia crossed over. So the original body’s grandmother also knew that the original owner was going to a nearby attraction to relax and unwind after the exams, and would not return home until after the holiday. So she did not keep contacting him.

With all this, Ji Mingxia had no contact with the original owner’s grandmother since he crossed over.

In fact, the contact between him and his grandmother was a bit more frequent than that between the original owner and his grandmother.

For example, although parents would not bother the students before the exams, they would usually give a few words of blessing.

In his world, he had talked to his grandmother all night before the entrance exams.

In addition, he often took the initiative to call during school because his parents were dead and his grandmother lived in the countryside, he didn’t want her to be too lonely.

However, when faced with the original owner’s grandmother, Ji Mingxia felt a bit guilty.

The mobile phone that Ji Mingxia was using was the original owner’s so he had noticed that the original owner and his grandmother had very little contact with each other. They called each other only once or twice a month.

Each call lasted only about three or four minutes. Because of that, the call would end immediately after ending each other's mutual blessings of safety. There wasn’t much conversation.

The original owner’s grandmother did not take the initiative to contact him, so Ji Mingxia also did not dare to take the initiative to contact back due to fear that a phone call would directly expose him.

To him, his grandmother was the closest person in the world to him.

According to his thinking , if his grandmother and the original owner's grandmother swapped places, there was a high probability that he would feel something was wrong.

Since he would be able to feel something was wrong, then the original owner’s grandmother would also be able to do so.

Therefore, Ji Mingxia always maintained an *ostrich mentality when it came to the original owner’s grandmother in this world.

*Hiding away from problems.

The original owner’s grandmother knew about the original owner’s holiday to the hotel, so he had gone with everyone else to the scenic hotel with confidence.

However, he forgot that the original owner had reported that the holiday would be only three or four days.

His holiday was prolonged when they found the bronze mirror and then followed Li Youzi to forest in order to get the ring back.

During this period, Yu Ning used the bronze mirror to keep Zhao Zhuoye and the others from realising they had left.

But the grandmother, who was thousands of miles away, was not affected by the bronze mirror.

Seeing that the holiday was coming to an end but there was no word for Ji Mingxia, the original owner’s grandmother took the initiative to contact Ji Mingxia.

Since the day before yesterday, the grandmother had made a total of twelve phone calls.

Because his mobile phone was switched off, all twelve of these calls were not answered.

Ji Mingxia couldn’t even imagine how the grandmother was feeling at the moment!

If he was still with his grandmother, she would have been filled with so much despair that she would have gone to school and beaten him up!

With this thought, Ji Mingxia forgot about Yu Ning and the ring, and he hurriedly called the original owner’s grandmother back.

“Hello.” As soon as the call was connected, an aged voice came from the other end of the phone, leaving Ji him dumbfounded.

He was very familiar with his grandmother’s voice, even if she called him from a different unfamiliar number, he would be able to recognise it as soon as he heard it.

But the voice coming from the other end of the phone was surprisingly unfamiliar ……

“Hello, Mingxia.” The aged on the other end of the phone called out again.

Ji Mingxia listened carefully. Although it was still his grandmother’s voice, it was countless times older and huskier than remembered.

He hurriedly turned back to his senses and answered: “It’s me.”

“When are you coming back?” The old woman asked.

“I …… I’ll be home tomorrow.” Ji Mingxia said.

“Good.” The old woman said, “Then hang up.”

“Bye ……,” Ji Mingxia said.

He was worried about exposing himself so didn’t dare to say much. As a result, he had just he finished saying goodbye when the phone was hang up

Ji Mingxia stared blankly at the phone, almost thinking he was dreaming.

Yes it was his grandmother’s phone number, just like back in his original world. And it was indeed the original owner’s grandmother that had called him.

But why was everything about her so different from the grandmother he remembered?!
