A’Meng’s smug look disappeared. With a nervous face, he rubbed his contract beast’s head. The wolfhound whimpered and rubbed against him. His eyes and nose were red and looked extra pitiful. A’Meng was distraught, and yelled angrily at Xie Sen, “How dare you use poison!”

“It’s not poison, but it will be very hard if it’s not treated in time.” Xie Sen explained.

A’Meng immediately asked, “How to deal with it?”

Xie Sen didn’t answer directly, but asked, “Our sparring is sort of over, right?”

A’Meng was reluctant, but there was a sense of empathy between a bonded master and their beast. He could feel his contract beast was very hard put. He gritted his teeth and nodded. “Yes, you win. Tell me how to make it not difficult.”

“You take him to swim in the water. Remember to bury his head in the water, swim faster, and a little longer. If you have a cooling ointment, it can be rubbed on the affected area.”

A’Meng let his contract beast into the contracted space, turned and left the stage.

When A’Meng left the arena, someone asked Xie Sen curiously, “What is that thing beside you?”

Xie Sen took the chili pepper bush back, smiled and didn’t answer. He looked to where Maine was standing before, but he didn’t see anyone. He didn’t know when Maine had left. He quickly stepped down from the stage. The students around him were shocked by his inexplicable moves just now, so no one stopped him, and they automatically made way.

Some people kept whispering about what the pepper bush was. Some even speculated that it was a new weapon, which Xie Sen couldn’t help but laugh at. The people here knew too little about plants, especially edible plants.

“Wow, did you see? Maine just came to see the fun! He’s really handsome!”

Xie Sen heard the familiar name, and subconsciously inclined his head to look over. He saw a Beast Star body that belonged to a petite boy being embraced by a light blond boy. HIs eyes were glowing.

“What’s the point of being handsome? He’s an abandoned bastard. Otherwise, with his Cox surname, why would he come to our school?” The light blonde boy nudged the other boy’s forehead with his finger. “Don’t be silly. You’re the most popular long-eared rabbit contract beast female. There are so many better people to choose from than him.”

The boy sighed in disappointment. “If he wasn’t a bastard, I would have married him.”

Xie Sen gave a jolt, hurriedly turned his head, and walked quickly towards the outside of the school. Having seen a boy talk about marrying someone was too much of a stimulus for him. He was now very thankful that he hadn’t awakened a contract beast. He didn’t want to be treated as a female. He had been a male for years, and had never thought of switching genders.

Shortly after leaving the arena, his shoulder was suddenly grabbed from behind. He subconsciously took a step to the side, lowered his shoulders and pulled away. He turned his head, and was greeted by a face that was leaning extremely close, a face that was too close to see, just full of white wobbly teeth.

“Hey, it’s really you.” A vibrant teenage voice with some incredulity. “Aren’t you dead?”

Xie Sen froze, then took two steps back. Only then did he get a good look at the teenager. It was the same dark-haired, doll-faced teenager who had approached the arena to watch.

He was about 1.93 meters tall and thin, but his arms were muscular outside his T-shirt, not weak.

“I was just injured, but I’ve recovered now.” Xie Sen, unsure of what he had done as his predecessor, explained politely.

The teenager inclined his head, and seemed extremely puzzled. “But I saw you jump from the stairs, and bleed a lot when you landed on the ground. It was the sixteenth floor. Anyone who jumped would have died.”

Xie Sen blinked. Didn’t the doctor say he fell into the water, and that he saved his life?

“You’re looking at it wrong. I got lucky and fell into the water.”

“No,” the teenager danced up and down, and talked extra fast to describe it, “I fought with that giant eagle’s beast master that day, and I saw with my own eyes that you landed on the ground before the giant eagle slapped you into the water with one wing.” He scratched the back of his head and said, “I wanted to go get you, but I was pestered by that silly eagle. After the fight, I went to ask, only to learn that you were taken to the hospital.”

He showed a big smile with bright white teeth. “I thought you were sent to the morgue! You’re amazing. You didn’t die from such a serious injury?”

Xie Sen remembered that the doctor said he had a concussion, not a hole in his head. After he thought about it, it could only be related to Adam. He also finally understood why Adam had said his predecessor was dead, and knew why the doctor hadn’t believed him at all when he heard him say he had gone into the water to catch a fish.

“It’s probably just luck.” Xie Sen said vaguely.

The boy nodded vigorously, as he agreed with him. He looked at his left shoulder, while his black eyes shone brightly. “What did you just use to defeat the wolfhound beast? Can I see it?” He shook his head as soon as the words left his mouth, and grabbed Xie Sen’s shoulder with a big smile. “Fight me!”

Xie Sen was speechless, and took his hand off his shoulder. “No, I can’t beat you,” he said and walked forward.

“How do you know if you haven’t fought me?” The boy’s hand was on his shoulder again, as he jumped after him. “Fight, fight!”

Xie Sen was helpless. “Are you a child?”

“I’m not.” The boy patted his chest. “I’ll be eighteen soon.” He came closer. “Fight with me!”

Xie Sen reached out, and put his hand against the other boy’s face. “I’m so weak. It’s easier to beat me than to beat a kid.”

“No, you were so good! I can’t even hit someone that fast, and it’s the first time I’ve seen your helper. I’m curious!” The boy didn’t care that his face was blocked. His speech was still fast, that was to say the words were a little muffled.

Xie Sen had a headache. “My helper can only fight once then has to rest for a few days. Now it can’t fight.”

“Oh, so it’s like that.” The boy retracted his head, and smiled to reveal his white teeth. “Then we have a deal. When your helper is rested, you will fight with me.” He stretched out his left hand to reveal his personal bracelet. “Let’s exchange contact information, and remember to look me up when the time comes.”

Xie Sen didn’t expect the boy to believe his words so easily. He was relieved but deeply concerned about why the other boy was so very pestering, and brusquely exchanged contact information.

“By the way, my name is Long Teng. What’s your name?”

Xie Sen was stunned, and looked up. “What did you say your name was?”

The boy laughed. “Long Teng. Do you not know how to write the word Teng? I had to practice it for a long time when I was a kid, and I wrote it like this…” he said, and gestured.

Xie Sen didn’t look at his gestures. His whole body was in shock.

He was too familiar with the name Long Teng. This was the name of the hero in the novel he read before the apocalypse. The hero was a big horse with simple blood who liked to laugh, liked to eat meat, and was a fighting maniac.

If Maine Cox’s name was a coincidence, then what about adding Long Teng?

XIe Sen thought for a moment and asked, “What’s your contract beast?”

“Flying dragon beast,” said Long Teng with a wide smile.

The contract beast of the protagonist of that book was the flying dragon beast as well!

Xie Sen had mixed feelings in his heart. So he was reborn in a book? The book he hadn’t finished reading before he arrived at the end of the world?

The story in the book started with the graduation of the main character, and didn’t involve the school. The first chapters were of the protagonist looking for his contract beast, and continuously strengthening himself. Later, Beast Star went into chaos since the villainous bosses united, and attacked Beast Star.

Beast Star’s situation was very chaotic, with foreign beasts everywhere, and comparable to the post-apocalyptic zombie rampage.

And the villainous boss was called Maine Cox.
