The Legend of Min Hong

Chapter 21: The Blackstar Skin

After the vortex of starlight was formed, the lunar ice-water energy flowed into Min Hong's body via his meridian channels. Immediately, Min Hong felt all his meridian channels, veins, muscles and bone start to freeze. The lunar energy was bone chilling and icy shards were already forming in his surroundings. Also, his breath had a visible icy hue to it and his skin was already freezing over.

The lunar energy flowed and then accumulated in the chest region of his back on the right to be precise, and then the shape of the "Moon Rabbit" started to take shape as more lunar energy entered his body. This process was a relatively painful process and it took all of Min Hong's grit and perseverance to endure this process.

But after about ten minutes, the "Moon Rabbit" tattoo was finally completed. It was just as his body was about to freeze up and the pain become unbearable, the solar flare energy then surged through his body following the same route as its celestial counterpart.

All the frozen part in his body melted and immediately color returned to Min Hong's body which had initially turned blue due to the earlier process.

Just as he was about to sigh in relief, his entire face and body started to turn bright red again, as an overbearing heatwave surged through his insides. Min Hong could feel all his organs gradually begin to roast, waves of heat was radiated outwards into his surroundings as his underpants burn to ashes and fell off.

One must know that the energies from these two celestial bodies is just as strong as their prestige amongst all heavenly bodies. Min Hong had already surpassed his endurance limit a long time ago and was only holding on through sheer willpower and his desire to gain power so as to protect all that he cared about.

After about another ten minutes, the "Golden Crow" tattoo began to take shape. It took about twenty breaths for the tattoo to fully take form. And after the tattoos of both the "Moon Rabbit and the "Golden Crow" was fully formed there on Min Hong's back, one each side the energies then stopped flowing momentarily.

After about ten breaths, these energies now resumed their flow, but this time around they directly flowed in through both tattoos on Min Hong's back. After a certain influx of energy entered these tattoos, a certain change occurred. The tattoos of both the Golden Crow and Moon Rabbit began to merge together.

The form they took was the Moon Rabbit curling up into a ball shape whilst the wings of the Golden Crow Spread wide as if trying to cover up the moon rabbit. The moment these two tattoos formed, the two completely opposite energies which had been wreaking havoc within Mi Hong's body suddenly started mixing together before birthing a unique type of energy called the "Yuan Qi".

As this Yuan Qi began to flow through Min Hong's body, all the previous injury he had previously sustained due to the overbearing nature of the two incompatible energies he absorbed earlier began to heal at a rate visible to the naked eye. In fact, some damaged internal organs were also regenerating.

"The strength and quality of this "Yuan Qi" is truly astonishing, it's healing properties is even more overpowered." Min Hong thought to himself as he sensed the rapid rate at which his body is healing and also rapidly strengthening. This gradual strengthening process didn't escape Min Hong's senses as he reveled in it.

The Yuan Qi continued to flow into Min Hong's body, boring through everything in its path, soothing and strengthening everything it touched. Min Hong was gradually watching his body transform;

The first thing he noticed was his blood become redder as they're being vitalised by the Yuan Qi, then his bones went several times sturdier and thicker as they took on a gold coloured hue. His muscles then became thicker, more compact and lighter, and lastly was his flesh which was only getting tougher as time went by.

This process went on for about half an hour before the Yuan Qi gradually receded and stored in both tattoos for further use which is either to battle or for healing his wounded body. After the cultivation ended, the vortex of starlight vanished and the two fused tattoos defused themselves. The moment this happened, Min Hong opened his eyes and his mouth parted into a grin.

He rose from his cross-legged position and activated only his physical strength. Immediately, a faint dragon roar echoed out as 3 tiny golden dragons wriggled within his body, urging the energy raging through his body towards his right arm, the 3 tiny golden dragons swam and bulged the skin of his right arm forming 3 tattoos on the outside.

"3 Star Warrior stage!" Min Hong mumbled to himself as his eyes went red in delight. Cracking sounds rang out as Min Hong's muscles bulged incredibly and his veins began to wriggle like little flood dragons, one of his arms was as thick as an adult's thigh at this moment.

He then entered his sea of consciousness to check if there are any changes due to his breakthrough. Immediately Min Hong entered he found himself on sitting on the futon on the altar, and what he saw blew his mind into oblivion. There were drastic changes within his sea of consciousness.

Firstly, was the sun and moon that were now present in this dimension. They split this dimension into two, one half being the day illuminated by the sun which seemed to symbolize the golden crow from his body refining technique, whilst the other part being night illuminated by the moon which symbolized the moon rabbit.

Secondly, were the countless stars that lit up the entire night sky, tiny and extremely bright. There were even stars streaking across the sky occasionally switching positions and leaving beautiful glittering lines across the sky. This seemed to symbolize the 'Ancient Heavenly Vortex of Stars' unique to the [Jade Primal Dragon Body] technique.

Lastly, were the three tiny dragons that etched themselves onto the energy barrier protecting the altar, they were just swimming around and as he gazed upon them, they all flew out and roared towards the heavens, resounding across the entire dimension before returning to etch themselves on the energy barrier. Everything was life-like and breathtakingly beautiful.

After immersing himself in the joy of the changes that has happened in his sea of consciousness, Min Hong then left the dimension and opened his eyes, a golden glow appeared in his eyes for a bit before vanishing completely.

He was about to stand up and test his strength when several footsteps sounded outside the cottage and three figures walked into the cottage. It turned out to be the three people Min Hong cared about the most in this world; His grandfather "Min Tian", His mother "Min Rou" and His elder sister "Min Qing".

"Little brother! You broke through?! Min Qing asked in astonishment as she could feel the overbearing aura radiating from Min Hong.

"The dragon is a proud and overbearing existence in the animal Kingdom, anything that has a tinge of its properties would carry a relative aura also." Min Tian added as he tried to gauge Min Hong's overall battle prowess.

"It's already good enough that my Hong'er could cultivate, the two of you should stop looking at my boy like he's some lab specimen." Min Rou wanted to chide the father and granddaughter duo, but was betrayed by the curious expression on her face.

"Put on a change of clothes." With a wave of his hands, his grandpa made a set of robes appear in his hands, then tossed it to his grandson.

"Yes." Min Hong immediately grabbed it.

"Hong," Min Tian said calmly.

"Grandpa." Hong listened carefully.

"Your potential is extraordinary. However, if you wish to break through the bottleneck of warrior stage and enter the King stage, potential alone isn't enough." Tian looked at his grandson. "You need to receive the best instruction possible."

Hong said respectively, "Grandpa, please instruct me."

"Rou'er." Tian looked at his daughter, Min Rou. She nodded, and then with a flip of her hand, two items appeared. One was a deep blue finger ring. It was smooth and very beautiful. The other was a glittering, rainbow colored, fist-sized rock.

"This deep blue ring is known as a storage ring." Min Rou smiled. "This contains a miniature dimension inside of it. All you need to make it yours is to bind it with your blood."

"Storage ring! Is this a smaller version of that storage bag you used to carry the iron weights on out first training session?" Hong asked overjoyed.

"Hahaha!" Min Qing laughed. "Little brother this ring might be smaller than the storage sack, but it's dimension is way larger than it. This storage ring actually contains 1000 cubic feet of space and only 20 of it is available in the Min Family. Asides from grandpa, mum, our uncles and the elders, only Min Jiao, you and I possess one." She added.

"Really!" Min Hong spoke with a furrowed brow. "If it's that valuable why are you handing it to us the younger generation?" He asked.

"No one would know if it's an ordinary ring or not, as only very few people know about its existence, as only storage bags are widely available within the Soaring Cloud Village." His mother replied. "Moreover, if you had a storage bag, you'd become more of a target, as people might covet it's content. And even a family of such strength as ours can't protect you from every ambush."

"Bind it first" Rou handed the ring over to her son.

"Yes, mother." Hong accepted them. He didn't hesitate at all before he gently bit his finger and a single drop of blood fell onto the ring and was quickly absorbed, giving the ring a tinge of red color.

"Get in." Hong willed the container of liquid Qi on his table to disappear, and it did, reforming and floating within the miniature dimension inside the storage ring.

"Come out" the bottle of Qi appeared in his hand again.

"How magical." Hong was absolutely ecstatic.

"Alright. The storage ring can be considered a treasure to outsiders, but to us it isn't that valuable. Given the Min Clan's status… a storage ring isn't even worth discussing! However, the other treasure is something which your father only obtained during the life and death battle with the dragon back then." Rou spoke.

"Bind it." Rou instructed her son, who bit his finger once more and a drop of blood fell onto the rock. The drop of blood was quickly absorbed and inside the rock, countless red arteries appeared and then, the fist-sized rainbow rock turned into a liquid and flowed towards Hong.

"What's this?" Hong felt his entire body turn hot.

"It's a naturally occurring treasure and it is called "Black Star Skin". Rou explained. "You can use it immediately after binding it. It will instantly enter and become part of your skin. It can transform into any Kind of outfit you want at a single thought and with its protection, nothing below the Emperor or Dan formation stage will be able to harm you with its attacks."

"The Tiandou Kingdom, from ancient times until now, has existed for countless years, and the territory it rules is vast. In the area around Soaring Cloud Village, our Min Family reigns supreme. But in some other villages… there are other families that are even more powerful than our Min Family." Min Tian said. "In some of these ancient, mighty families, some of the promising young youths, while they're still young, will be given treasures such as this Blackstar Skin to help protect them."

Hong was startled. Turning to look at his mother and grandpa, he felt a warm feeling fill his heart. This family of his we truly very good to him.

"Although the Blackstar Shirt is a treasure, I can easily break through it with a casual finger strike." Tian looked at his grandson. "These things are all external. In the future, you must have major accomplishments in your body refining techniques, and since body refining specializes in power and defense, what you need to do is to utilize all of your potential and strength."

"Tell me your current level of cultivation. What peculiar phenomenon did you notice?" Min Tian asked as he bunched his brows in thought.

"I am currently in 3 Star Warrior stage and 3 Star Qi creation Stage. Then, the void opened up and many stars swirled around me so fast until a vortex was formed, then the light within the vortex of stars shined upon me." Min Tian explained, even though he did not actually see it, did not mean he couldn't sense what happened around him.

"The 'Ancient Heavenly Vortex of Stars'! That is the sign for the highest aptitude with this technique. Are you sure that was what really happened?"

"Yes Grandpa, I would never lie to you." Hong replied as he nodded very seriously.

"Haha Haha. Rou'er, didn't I tell you this boy and the [Jade Primal Dragon Body] were fated. He even summoned the 'Ancient Heavenly Vortex of Stars'…" Min Tian was really happy at this point.

"I have absolute confidence in father's judgements. Hong'er is extremely lucky to have a grandfather like you." Min Rou smiled as she thanked her father in Min Hong's stead.

"With this body refining technique, your strength will be great, your movements fast, your vision clear at great distances, your hearing very sensitive and even your healing abilities will be astonishing!" Tian looked at his grandson. "But in order to transform these into true power…"

"The first thing you need is a weapon!" Tian said. "Your strength might be a hundred times greater than your enemy's, but your enemy might be able to shoot you to death with an arrow from a kilometer away. That's what makes a good weapon so powerful."

"In addition, you must be very good with wielding weapons. Someone, who has no cultivation base but has reached the third level of sword mastery "One with Dao", is capable of easily beheading a powerful but inexperienced cultivator. After all, no matter the cultivation of a person he cant block the sharpness of a sword!" Min Tian said slowly.
