C24 – The Second Plan

Xingchen led a group of people to block Hee Jingyan’s path, but even after waiting for some time, Hee Jingyan’s car had yet to appear. Eventually, Xingchen grew impatient and tried to contact the ambush group, but he couldn’t get through.

“Why can’t I get through? What’s happening?” Xingchen pounded the steering wheel in frustration and rolled his eyes. Then, he pressed the Bluetooth device beside his ear and ordered, “Everyone, move to the first ambush location.”

“Understood.” The vehicles trailing behind Xingchen hastened their speed to catch up.

When Xingchen and the others arrived at the first ambush point, all they saw was chaos and a burning car.

Xingchen’s eyes widened in disbelief. He never expected their initial stronghold to be taken down so effortlessly, without a single survivor.

“Damn it!” Despite his frustration, he knew he had to face reality. Staying put would only result in being captured by Hee Jingyan’s team. With a heavy heart, he retreated in anger.

Xingchen stared at his phone for a long while, unable to muster the courage to inform his superior that their plan had failed.

The frustration on Xingchen’s face was evident, as he felt stuck and unable to find a way out of his current predicament.

Eventually, he decided to call his superior. “Big brother, I’m sorry, I…” He bit his lip and tears welled up in his eyes. He struggled to speak, but the words didn’t come out. He was filled with shame.

The man on the other end of the line simply blinked his cold eyes, as if he already knew that Xingchen had failed. “Let’s proceed with the second plan,” he said without scolding or saying much else.

Xingchen was taken aback, as he had expected to be reprimanded. However, this only made him feel more ashamed, so he swore, “This time, I will not fail again.”

The man didn’t chastise him or offer words of encouragement. Instead, he coolly remarked, “I’ll be waiting for your good news,” and hung up.

Even though the call had ended, Xingchen still responded loudly, “Yes.”

“Brother Xingchen, what should we do next?” The subordinate in the front passenger seat looked at Xingchen, who was consumed with self-blame, and asked cautiously.

“What should we do?” Wu Tie narrowed his eyes. “We should directly kidnap Hee Jingyan’s wife and make him suffer.”

“This time, I won’t let you get away with it. Hee Jingyan and Loong Shen, you just wait,” Xingchen vowed.

Xingchen immediately contacted his spies within Hee Jingyan’s army. “I failed in my mission. Proceed with the second plan. How are your preparations going?” Xingchen didn’t wait for the other person’s response before issuing his orders.

When the spy heard that Xingchen had failed, he felt a momentary tremble in his pupils. It was as if he had let out a sigh of relief, but he quickly composed himself and replied, “They must be well-prepared.” He didn’t know why, but he found it hard to speak properly since the man had bitten his tongue.

Upon hearing this, Xingchen’s eyes filled with anger. “Aura! Why are you hesitating?”

“Yes,” the spy jumped in fright and saluted hastily. His heart raced as he replied in a loud and clear voice.

“Failure is not an option this time,” Xingchen’s gaze turned icy as he spoke, ready to take risks.

The spy was deep in thought for a while, but he accepted the order without hesitation. “Understood.”
