Brian’s POV*

I often go in and out of the royal training camp with my father, the leader of the Knights, practicing swordsmanship and doing chores with the Knights. I also hang out with Geese, who has been visiting the magic division of the royal palace since he was young.
From the day he was almost kidnapped, Geese has spent his days in the magic division where his father, the head of the magic division, can see him.
Today, I came to visit my childhood friend Geese at the magic division.

“Did a strange guy come?”

When I asked that, Geese raised his head from the picture book and shook his head silently.

“I see, if you see a strange person, be sure to ask your father or the Knights for help.”

Geese nods silently. I sighed inwardly, looking at the situation with my chin propped on my hand.

He really doesn’t talk unless it’s trivia. I’ve met with him many times, but I’ve never heard him have a normal conversation. Is there a scar or old wound in your throat that makes it hard to talk?

Brian who thought this, looked at Geese’s neck to find out why he can’t speak. Brian who was acting suspiciously and looking at his neck at close range, raised Geese’s jaw a little, and Geese was staring at him with a puzzled expression, but Brian didn’t notice and got lost in his thoughts.

Hmm. There doesn’t seem to be any injuries that are likely to cause you to lose your voice. Ah, I see. If you get hurt like that, your father would treat you somehow.
Geese’s father’s magic is amazing. With a bang. He has destroyed many places, and an old man called the prime minister gets hungry, and he’s always falling down. So if Geese’s voice doesn’t come out, Geese’s father will magically cure his throat.

“Then why don’t you talk?”

When Brian asked the question that he was thinking of, Geese shook his head silently because he didn’t know how this is connected to the conversation. Brian stared at Geese, who was tilting his head.

Five minutes have passed.

“Ahhh!! That’s right!! You should talk about it!!”

Brian pushed his fists up toward the ceiling, and as soon as he screamed, an explosion echoed from somewhere and the building shook. The lights were shaking a lot in the room where Brian and the others were, and something was falling from the ceiling.

“What is it? What happened?”

Brian who clung to the table right away, was attacked by a bad feeling, and when he caught the stunned Geese, he jumped under the table. At that moment, the second and third explosions echoed, and the building shook loudly again. Brian crawled under the table and desperately withstood the impact. The fragments of the lights that fell on the table splashed to the floor and rolled under the table where Brian and the others were hiding, but they just waited for the explosions and aftershocks to subside in a room that had lost its light.

Wondering how long it had been, when the explosions subsided and the silence returned, Brian finally came out from under the table. Shortly after, Geese followed Brian out.

Brian sent a hand signal to Geese and quietly moved near the door and looked for signs outside.

The corridor, which had been quiet for a while, gradually became noisy. When they heard the adults running around in a hurry, they left the room.

Brian spoke to Geese in a small voice so that he wouldn’t be heard by the adults around them.

“Hey, Geese. It looks like something happened. I wonder where that sound just came from. Do you have any idea?”

Geese nods and points in the direction where they heard the explosion. Brian looks in the direction he pointed.

“Over there. It’s on the Royal Side.”

When he muttered that, Brian thought about it for a moment and then laughed with an expression like a bad kid who came up with a prank.

“Hey, Geese. Let’s go see it.”

Geese nodded silently to Brian’s suggestion. Brian nodded back, and in the midst of the commotion, he started running through the facility of the Magic Division with Geese.

Chief of the Magic Division Laboratory’s POV*

I, Nikolai, was busy every day investigating a necklace that seems to be an unfinished magic item. It was found in the hideout of the magician organization and was brought to the laboratory of the Magic Division the other day.
For the past few days, I’ve been living in the building of the Magic Division while taking naps in the laboratory. Well, me not leaving the building of the Magic Division is nothing new.
When I was recording the newly readable necklace technique with my subordinates today, the room suddenly shook with a bang.

In the laboratory, goods collapse and it becomes noisy. In a panic, several people headed to the door and looked into the crowded hallway.

I thought there might have been an explosion of magic somewhere and decided to see how it was going. I put the necklace into a storage container and changed direction to go to the vault. At that moment, my knees impacted with the floor as the building shook again.

When the explosions continued, I predicted that this wasn’t an explosion of magic. As I was thinking on my knees on the floor, my subordinate, who was recording the necklace with me, shouted in fear.

“Chief Nikolai, what is this?!”

There’s no way I’ll know even if you ask me. At this point you and I have the same information to judge the situation.

“Hmm. I wonder what it is.”

If I tilt my head and smile, my subordinates will reprimand me.

“Chief!! What are you doing in this situation?! Please go and see what’s happening!!”

That’s terrible. Even though I’m the boss. . .

“Even if you say so, I can’t even stand up with all this shaking. I’m desperate too, aren’t I?”

While I was having such an exchange with my subordinates, the explosions stopped. I left the container holding the necklace with my subordinate who asked me to find out the situation, and went out into the hallway.
To be honest, I don’t think it’s my job as the head of the laboratory to investigate the situation.

Well, it’s troublesome to stay in the laboratory as it is, and it will be worse if the problem requires an evacuation and the order is late. So I obediently went to the site to get information. While asking members and staff who were passing by about the location of the commotion, some members came running toward me.

“Ah!! Chief Nikolai, it’s not good!! This is serious!! The daughter of Marquis Brunest blew up the entrance with the second prince and invaded this facility!! Half of the entrance hall and the first floor have already been conquered by them!!”

Eh. . . What’s that? I don’t get it.

There are so many things I want to ask that I don’t know where to start. First of all, they blew up the entrance. Why? Open the door normally and come in. If the second prince is with you, you can enter with a free pass, right?
Also, why are the facilities of the Magic Division easily conquered by two children in a short time? It doesn’t make sense. I mean, following Isabella, the recent six-year-olds are so flashy that this old man can’t keep up.

No, wait. Let’s calm down.
More importantly, why were we attacked? What is the reason?

“The second prince and the daughter of Marquis Brunest attacked us. . . Why?”

The members hang their heads at my question.

“Who knows? I don’t really understand that. Anyway, it’s a point of “send out the Magic Division Commander or spit out the location of the Magic Division Commander’s home.”

“Eh? Are you telling me to tell you the location of the commander’s house? I’m afraid of his daughter these days.”

When my eyes involuntarily got distant, the members waved their hands in a hurry.

“Ah, no, I didn’t tell you to talk about that, but. . . Oh, there’s another boy with slitted eyes trying to hold them back. If I remember correctly, I think he’s probably a child of Schniever & Co. . .”

I start to regain consciousness because of the information given by the members.

“Huh? The boy with slitted eyes from Schniever & Co.?”

“Yes. For the time being, I’m going to look for the commander, but what about Chief Nikolai?”

“Hmm. Actually, I haven’t met him yet, so I’ll go and see how things are going at the scene.”

“I see, be careful. Then I’m going to look for the commander.”

After that was said, I saw off the members who ran away, and went to the first floor where there were extremist boys and girls.
