Chapter 32.2: Seminary 08.2

11TH JUN 2023~SV

Slowly climbing upwards

Bai Tong lowered his eyes and looked at the spoon. It was made of silver. The handle of the spoon was dotted with a pattern of light green leaves, and there were also some thin, long and intricate patterns. At first glance, it was just an ordinary spoon with exquisite workmanship.

Bai Tong frowned and said to Wen Qing, “And the chopsticks?”

Wen Qing simply handed the entire cutlery box to him.

Bai Tong glanced at it. The cutlery box was bare in colour and patternless, but the chopsticks inside were different. They had the same pattern as the spoon and were entwined.

He wiped the spoon, placed it back into the cutlery box, and told Wen Qing, “Don’t use this for now.”

“I’ll give you new chopsticks in the afternoon.”

Wen Qing remembered that Bai Tong had his own Space, probably with spoons and chopsticks, so he responded.

As they were leaving the cafeteria, on the way back to the classroom, Wen Qing spotted a slender figure disappearing on the path next to the classroom building.

His footsteps paused. That back looked a bit like Ji Junfeng.

“What’s wrong?”

“I seemed to have seen Ji Junfeng.”

Beside the classroom building

Two players, one tall and one short, were blocking Ji Junfeng.

“He’s Ji Junfeng?”

“It’s him, I saw other people avoiding him.”

Ji Junfeng leaned against the wall as if he was boneless. He looked up at the two transfer students in front of him and lazily asked, “What’s up?”

The tall player walked up to him and sharply said, “Hurry up, tell us what you know.”

Ji Junfeng smiled and asked, “What I know… what does that mean?”

The tall player was stunned by his laughter. Soon after that, he kicked him to the ground. “Fuck, don’t laugh at laozi, laozi doesn’t like men.”

“Hurry up and tell us what secrets are in the school.”

Ji Junfeng laid on the ground, eyes shut, saying nothing.

The short player walked up to him and kicked him hard. Seeing that Ji Junfeng didn’t react at all, he couldn’t help but turn his head and ask the taller player, “Brother Qian, does this kid really know?”

Brother Qian stepped on Ji Junfeng’s leg and coldly said, “He definitely knows something.”

“Yesterday, I heard Oz talk of this guy when he was interrogating someone.”

Hearing this, the short player punched Ji Junfeng in the stomach. “Fucking talk faster.”

Ji Junfeng still didn’t say a word.

“Damn it,” Brother Qian spat. He knelt down and pulled up Ji Junfeng’s collar, and grimly said, “I know nobody cares about you, bastard. If you still don’t fucking tell us, take care dying here today.”

Ji Junfeng lifted his eyelids and sneered.

This sneer seemed to touch a certain nerve of Brother Qian. An unknown fire in his heart instantly surged up. The veins on his forehead burst out, and he immediately let go of Ji Junfeng’s arm. “Fucking androgynous bitch.”

He grabbed Ji Junfeng’s neck with both hands and tightened it a lot. “Do you want to die? Hurry up and tell me!”

Ji Junfeng closed his eyes. The corners of his lips were smiling yet not smiling.

The short player watched his face get redder and redder, body twitching slightly, and he quickly said, “Brother Qian, he- he seems like he’s about to die.”

Brother Qian lowered his head and saw that Ji Junfeng’s pupils were dilated. He cursed and relaxed his hands. “Don’t think that laozi doesn’t dare to kill you.”

He turned his head and told the short one. “Go to the intersection and be on the lookout, I have to ask today.”

The short one did as such.

Brother Qian unfastened his belt, flicked it in the air, and smacked Ji Junfeng harshly.

“Pa——”

“Pa——”

The short one couldn’t see the situation behind. He could only hear noises.

The sounds of beating sounded for quite a while, but Ji Junfeng’s cry was never heard. He nervously said, “Brother Qian, don’t beat him to death…”

Brother Qian threw the broken belt away. He used his right hand as a claw and nipped into the wound on Ji Junfeng’s arm. His expression became more and more crazy. “If laozi dies here, I will let you all be buried with me!”

Ji Junfeng groaned. His eyelids moved, before a slit slowly opened and he said hoarsely, “Today is the time for choosing an auspicious time.”

Brother Qian immediately asked, “What auspicious time?”

Ji Junfeng: “The auspicious time of God’s birthday.”

“Today, the chosen students can…”

Brother Qian continued asking, “Can what?”

Ji Junfeng glanced at the back of the short player and said breathily, “Can receive a reward.”

Brother Qian’s expression slightly moved. “What reward?”

Ji Junfeng’s eyes closed. “A reward for God’s birthday.”

Brother Qian continued asking, “Then what about tomorrow?”

Ji Junfeng closed his eyes and didn’t move, as if he was dead.

Brother Qian slapped him twice, but Ji Junfeng still didn’t respond.

Brother Qian cursed, loosened his collar, rose and said, “Don’t know if this kid is dead or if he fainted.”

“Let’s go first, class is about to start.”

The short player who was on the lookout hurried up and questioned, “What did that kid say?”

Brother Qian stepped over Ji Junfeng’s body. With a sullen face, he said, “He said today is the time for choosing an auspicious time.”

“A specific time will be set for the start of God’s Birthday.”

“The specific time for God’s birthday will be set.”

“And then?” the short player curiously asked.

Brother Qian: “No more.”

When Wen Qing returned to the classroom, Ji Junfeng’s seat was empty.

He frowned, walked to the window in front of the classroom, and looked out at a path to the side.

There was no figure, only a sculpture of an angel, tightly entwined by vines. A green leaf of the vines swayed in the wind, looking a little playful.

Wen Qing glanced around and withdrew his sight, thinking that he might’ve seen the wrong person on the path earlier.

The prayer class was still in the morning. Before class started, Teacher Chen told everyone, “Today’s lunch break is cancelled.”

“After lunch, a teacher will lead you to the temple.”

The moment the word ‘temple’ came out, everyone’s expressions were different. The students’ faces were full of feverish joy, whereas the players were a little nervous.

Wen Qing’s face slightly paled. So, choosing an auspicious time, this activity was actually going to be held in the temple.

For the whole morning, Wen Qing didn’t see Ji Junfeng, and the other students were used to it.

It wasn’t until noon, on the way to the cafeteria, that Wen Qing finally saw Ji Junfeng.

He sat on the lawn, leaning against a tree. Ignoring the wounds on his face and neck, it was a picture of a beauty resting.

Li Jingjing followed behind Wen Qing. When she saw Ji Junfeng’s face, she stopped and couldn’t help but sigh with emotion, and said, “No wonder Wen Qing is soft-hearted.”

“With a face like that, I’m also soft-hearted.”

Bai Tong glanced at her.

Li Jingjing’s expression didn’t change as she said, “With me, beauties are privileged.”

Passing by Ji Junfeng, Li Jingjing whistled and yelled, “Classmate, don’t you want to eat?”

Ji Junfeng lifted his eyelids and shook his head at her.

When they approached, Ji Junfeng’s wounds seemed more and more obvious.

Wen Qing stared at the fingerprints on his neck and frowned.

They weren’t there yesterday. Was this from being beaten again?

Li Jingjing also noticed and whispered, “These wounds… how can those people put their hands on this face?”

As if seeing their psychological thoughts, Ji Junfeng laughed, looked at Wen a Qing and said, “I’m fine.”

“Since you’re fine…” Bai Tong stopped in his steps and questioned, “Do you know why those who were expelled were suddenly expelled?”

“Their relationships with you weren’t too bad.”

Hearing this question, the corners of Ji Junfeng’s mouth pressed down. His eyes lowered, and his voice was very soft. “Isn’t it because I was abandoned by God?”

“They were implicated by me.”

Wen Qing frowned and quietly asked, “There shouldn’t be any test after entering school, right? Why did the teachers suddenly expel the students?”

Ji Junfeng’s eyes went half-lidded, and he slowly said, “The divination delivered by the High Priest.”

Bai Tong looked at him intently. “If the High Priest wants whoever to be expelled, whoever will be expelled?”

Ji Junfeng lightly said, “The divination is naturally God’s will.”

“The High Priest is merely conveying it.”

Wen Qing couldn’t figure out this logic. He frowned. “If God hates you, he should directly get rid of you.”

Like Yu Xing who did things his own way, that person… no, God…

Ji Junfeng raised his eyes and stared at Wen Qing’s side profile. After a while, he asked, “You mean that God still likes me?”

Wen Qing lowered his head and met Ji Junfeng’s pitch black eyes.

He dryly comforted, “You’re so good-looking, how could he not like you?”

That old pervert Yu Xing would definitely like him.

“There might be some misunderstanding.” Wen Qing said.

Ji Junfeng’s eyelashes trembled, and he asked, “Then do you like me as well?”

Wen Qing was stunned. Why was he suddenly involved?

It didn’t seem too suitable to say that he liked it, but it didn’t seem too suitable to say he didn’t like it either…

Bai Tong pursed his lips and didn’t give Wen Qing the chance to speak. He immediately asked, “What did you do last year?”

Ji Junfeng tilted his head to look at him. “If I say I didn’t do anything at all, would you believe it?”

Bai Tong’s face was calm. He didn’t believe him.

Li Jingjing rubbed her chin, seeming lost in thought as she spoke, “So it was that old fellow, the High Priest, who expelled the people around you, and made the students alienate you…”

As she said that, she scrutinised Ji Junfeng’s face, and a strange light shone in her eyes. “The High Priest shouldn’t actually like you, right?”

“He’s greedy for your body, he begged but couldn’t get it. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak. He was jealous of the classmates around you, and then drove them out of school, making everyone hate you, and then only he, a lonely old fellow, will be left by your side.”

Ji Junfeng: “……”

Bai Tong: “……”

Wen Qing: “……”
