TANH Chapter 36.2: Seminary 12.2

26TH JUL 2023~SV

Why was it still wrong?

Bai Tong walked at the very front. The three of them walked straight forward, and after passing the corner road, a door appeared.

The door was made of wood, brown solid wood, which seemed very abrupt among the iron doors.

Bai Tong stepped forward, listened by the side for a while, then tried to push the door.

With a creak, the door opened.

This was a file room. It wasn’t big, and there were only three bookshelves in it. The bookshelves were full of folders, and the year was stamped on each folder.

Li Jingjing glanced at this room. Although there were lights, it was surrounded by walls, which gave her a bad association.

She quickly said, “I don’t want to enter the room here. You two go in to search, I’ll keep an eye out.”

Wen Qing nodded and walked into the file room.

He picked up a folder with 1949 as its name and opened it. It was empty.

Wen Qing froze for a moment, then picked up the second book, which was also empty.

Bai Tong frowned. He quickly glanced at the folders on the bookshelf. They were all empty.

“This is the one before 1950.”

The three bookshelves were marked with years.

【 Before 1950 】

【 1950–2000 】

【 2000–2021 】

The one before 1950 was empty. Between the other two bookshelves, Wen Qing decisively stopped in front of the 2021 bookshelf and picked up a folder.

The moment he picked it up, he could feel the difference in weight immediately.

There was something inside.

He hurriedly flipped the folder open. He saw Qian Gangfeng’s information, which included his name, gender, birthday, address, enrolment date, and so on.

Wen Qing quietly called, “There’s something here.”

Bai Tong strode over.

Wen Qing turned to the next page. The second page was Qian Gangfeng’s photograph, which was different from the coloured photograph in the library. It was a black and white photograph, like a posthumous photograph.

Wen Qing continued to flip. The next one was Yang Fan, and his photograph was also in black and white.

After that, there were five more black and white photographs.

They were all students enrolled in 2021, this year.

In the back, the photographs of other students were all in normal colour.

Obviously, the people in the black and white photographs were dead.

The five students who were expelled were actually dead.

Wen Qing pursed his lips, continued to flip, and saw his own information.

Name, age, birthday…

His gaze suddenly stopped, staring at the address in the information column.

The address was his address in the real world. It was the dormitory of the university he studied in, and it was even accurate to the specific dormitory number.

He gaped, and wanted to talk to Bai Tong, but the first word hadn’t been spoken when a light movement suddenly sounded from outside the door.

Li Jingjing was warning them. Someone had come.

The next second, Teacher Chen’s voice sounded from outside the door. “Li Jingjing.”

Li Jingjing exaggeratedly responded, “Hey, my dear Mr. Chen.”

Teacher Chen coldly questioned, “What have I said?”

“Students are not allowed to approach this place.”

Li Jingjing hastily said, “I know, but I can’t help it. The High Priest who expelled the evil spirit today is too handsome. All of me is just too intoxicated, and I’m burning with desire, I can’t wait to find the High Priest…”

“I searched the whole building and couldn’t find anyone, so I came here.”

Teacher Chen was silent for a moment, then slowly spoke, “The time for curfew has arrived.”

Li Jingjing’s expression changed. She raised the corners of her lips. “Sir, I’ll leave immediately.”

Teacher Chen: “Li Jingjing has violated the third school rule, she will be locked up for 6 hours.”

Saying this, he didn’t pay attention to Li Jingjing, and went straight to the file room, as if he knew someone was inside.

Seeing this, Li Jingjing quickly pulled his left hand. “Mr. Chen! I want to report, there’s still someone upstairs.”

Teacher Chen glanced at his hand. He stopped and turned to look at Li Jingjing.

Li Jingjing: “Really! He also wants to find the High Priest, he wants to contend for favour with me!”

Teacher Chen raised his left hand, opened the door to the confinement room next to him, and motioned for Li Jingjing to enter.

Li Jingjing slowly walked to the door, staring firmly at Teacher Chen’s movement, and only sighed in relief when she saw him turn around and walk out.

On the other side, Bai Tong heard the footsteps outside the door fading away. He pursed his lips and told Wen Qing, “Let’s go first.”

Wen Qing clutched the folder and nodded.

They had just reached the doorway when several footsteps sounded outside the door again.

Bai Tong’s face changed, and immediately pulled Wen Qing back.

Immediately afterwards, there was a sound of a door opening and closing. It sounded like someone had been confined again.

The two of them hid in a corner behind the bookshelves. Wen Qing’s back was firmly pressed against the wall. He was so nervous that his heart was beating wildly.

Very quickly, he felt that something wasn’t quite right.

There was something moving on the wall.

To be more exact, the entire surface of the wall was moving.

Wen Qing’s eyelashes trembled. He didn’t dare to make a sound. Subconsciously, he tugged at Bai Tong’s sleeves. The moment he turned his head, he met Bai Tong’s shrunken eyes.

Before Wen Qing could react, his whole body seemed to be sinking into a swamp, and in the blink of an eye, he fell into it.

“Click”.

The file room’s door opened.

Teacher Chen stood outside the door, expressionlessly staring at Bai Tong beside the wall. “Bai Tong has violated the third school rule. Because of multiple violations of school rules, he is to be locked up for 24 hours.”

*****

The feeling of weightlessness rendered Wen Qing unable to make a sound. His eyes widened. After more or less 10 seconds, he fell on something soft and elastic.

Below was pitch black. Wen Qing suddenly came to this place from the light. He couldn’t see anything at all, and instinctively fumbled about the things beside him.

Immediately afterwards, he felt familiar, slender vines.

They were everywhere.

Wen Qing was entirely stiff, realising that the soft cushion under his butt were all these vines.

The vines were intertwined with each other, forming a net-like thing, layer by layer.

The only good thing was that these vines did not move. As if they were asleep, they were lying down quietly.

Wen Qing’s eyes immediately reddened with terror. He- why did he fall into someone else’s lair!

He remembered that Bai Tong wanted to catch him before he fell. Wen Qing exhaled and softly called, “Bai Tong?”

His voice was very soft, but it was very clear underground, as if it had been amplified several times, echoing.

Bai Tong didn’t respond, but the vines did. They moved slightly.

Wen Qing’s body stiffened even more. He silently comforted himself, it seemed like Bai Tong did not wake up, and the vines weren’t awake, the vines weren’t awake……

After a while, Wen Qing got used to the darkness in front of his eyes. Vaguely, he saw a path a few metres away, which was a different colour from the vines.

He held his breath and stood up shakily, fearing that the vines would suddenly move.

Wen Qing anxiously clenched his palms, and slowly walked towards the path.

One step, two steps, three steps…

Suddenly, the vines underneath his feet slightly moved.

Wen Qing’s body stiffened. He didn’t dare to continue moving.

The vines underneath his feet seemed to be twitching while dreaming, moving for a while then not moving.

The path was just two steps away. Wen Qing took a deep breath, and without caring about the actual situation, he quickly ran to the path, running forwards without looking back.

The sound of his footsteps were extremely clear underground, as if they had been amplified several times.

Soon, Wen Qing heard a familiar rustling sound sounding behind him.

Getting closer and louder.

A cold breeze came from behind. Wen Qing felt the vines wrapping around his ankles, slowly twining, tightening, then pulling back.

Like a snake entangling its prey with its tail, trying to tear it apart and eat it.

Wen Qing’s mind was empty and he struggled subconsciously. The next second, his wrist was also pulled.

He reached out his hand tremblingly, trying to make the thing beside his hand go away.

There was the sound of a smack. Wen Qing froze for a moment.

The thing grabbing his hand didn’t seem to be vines.

Suddenly, an extremely faint voice sounded beside his ear, “Don’t move.”

It was Oz’s voice.

If he hadn’t seen Oz’s voice, Wen Qing would’ve thought it was his hallucination.

He didn’t dare to move anymore. He stood stiffly, and vaguely saw Oz pull out something, bend down, and soon, the vines wrapped around his feet lost their strength.

Wen Qing stammered, “Thank- wuu——”

The second word hadn’t been said when his mouth was covered by Oz.

Oz lowered his head, leaned beside his ear, and with a volume only the two of them could hear, he spoke, “Don’t wake it up.”

Wen Qing anxiously nodded.

Oz lowered his eyes. His night vision was excellent, and he could clearly see Wen Qing’s appearance.

His face was very small. He (Oz) had just wanted to cover his (WQ) mouth, but he directly covered most of his face. The palm of his hand was his anxious breathing, which was warm, moist and itchy.

Oz’s fingertips slightly moved, stroking the warm and delicate skin.

When people were in darkness, their other senses would be magnified.

Wen Qing felt Oz’s movements. He raised his eyes in confusion, staring at Oz’s face indistinctly.

Oz stared into his eyes. It was very obvious that Wen Qing’s night vision was not good, and his pupils were a little unfocused.

His eyes were wide open. His eyelashes were wet with tears.

He looked… very well done.

Oz’s throat moved slightly. Smelling the scent on his body, he immediately picked him up and walked out.

Wen Qing’s body hung in the air. He opened his mouth instinctively, but after thinking of what Oz said, he swallowed back his cry and grasped Oz’s clothes firmly with both hands.

Oz was like a feline. He walked without making any noise at all.

Wen Qing didn’t struggle and quietly laid in Oz’s embrace.

In the darkness, he could only hear his own heart beating wildly.

After an unknown amount of time, a little light finally appeared in front of Wen Qing’s eyes.

A path of stone stairs going up.

He thought it was the exit, but it wasn’t until Oz went up that he realised this place was the real lair of the vines.

There were all sorts of glowing stones and beads inlaid on the wall. As if the lights had been turned on, Wen Qing could clearly see the dense layers of vines covering the wall and the ground. The lights were all reflecting the green terror.

Oz abruptly stopped in place.

Wen Qing turned his head, and his face paled.

There was a person lying in the middle of the vines. It was Ji Junfeng. He was wearing the High Priest’s black robe, and his androgynous face was covered with light blue complicated and strange lines. These lines seemed to be alive. They slowly shifted on Ji Junfeng’s face, slowly moving to the neck.

As soon as the lines moved, the vines under Ji Junfeng’s body also started to move.

From Wen Qing’s perspective, several slender vines could be seen coming out of Ji Junfeng’s body and getting into other vines.

Wen Qing was so frightened that his hands and feet stiffened, and a chill ran down his back.

Bai Tong’s analyses were right.

Ji Junfeng and the High Priest are the same person, no, the same vine.

All of the earlier events had an explanation.

Ji Junfeng didn’t need to eat human food, didn’t need to go to the cafeteria.

The strange noises heard in the dormitory were the sounds of the vines moving.

…………

Wen Qing held his breath, afraid that his rapid breathing would wake it up.

He unconsciously hooked Oz’s clothes with his fingers, and inwardly asked the system:【 The se- secret is that Ji Junfeng is the High Priest, is a vine monster? 】

001 still didn’t reply.

Wen Qing widened his eyes, at a loss. Why was it still wrong?
