CHAPTER 54: THE THINGS THAT I CAN DO.

“It seems like the Saint will be coming here.”


      After hearing his words, without the need of anyone telling us; I, Hurst-san, and Ryleigh-kun exchanged looks with one another.


     And at the same time, we grumbled. 



“Thruster-san… …”


“Thruster”



“Nii-san....”


    That’s right. The Saint is coming. The person who came into our minds is definitely that guy. That person who wears golden-colored glasses with blue hair and the same emerald eyes as Ryleigh-kun. That person who only acts for his own interest! 


“No, but still...aren’t things moving too fast?”


“Yeah. It’s only been 9 days since left the Capital. Whatsmore if the messenger bird has arrived then it means they’ve been on the moved since two days ago.”

“Then that makes it much more believable. He’s probably been scheming already since he learned that he’ll be separated from Ryleigh, ‘What should I do to prevent that from happening’. He even probably did everything within the very limits of his power to make sure that he can both satisfy Ryleigh’s wish and his own desire”


   …. ... As expected of the guy who moves for one’s own interest!




“Nii-san will make sure to uphold the things I said but it’s not like he can get away from the Saint and do bad things so maybe he thought, ‘then if that’s the case, all I have to do is pique the interest of the Saint and make her come here out of her own volition’...that’s probably what I think happened.”



“ I see. If out of her own will, Shizuka-chan said she wants to come here then under the guise of ‘Sure, I’ll make it happen’...is what happened.”

“Yes while in the meantime he’s making it appear officially that ‘it can’t be helped since its the whims of the Saint, I will have to accompany her.’ And by doing that his arrival here would be under the guise of official duties and he’ll be able to move the Saint, the Special Corps, and there’s no way the Royalty can reprimand him. Doing all this so he can meet Ryhleigh once again.”

        The three of us nodded our heads while thinking, yup if it’s that Thruster-san then it is possible.
        
        But well if you rationally think of this, Shizuka-chan, who is the saint should not even be allowed to go anywhere close to the very place where the Demon’s Forest is situated.

        Then again, it is that Thruster-san… ...just to meet Ryleigh-kun, he just probably threw away the idea or the possibility of what might happen if Shizuka-chan is exposed to danger.

         Though I’m sure, he’s probably done a lot of scheming and planning to make sure they won’t have to lose Shizuka-chan, the Saint.

“Oi! Is it real? Will Shizuku really come here!?
    
       Zezgard-san who is listening to our conversation suddenly chipped in, in a flustered state asked, and to respond to his inquiry, Hurst-san said, “Yeah. since they even went as far as using a messenger bird, the contents of the message is also that of an official one and it is also written here that they have already departed.”

“Haah!? They already left!?” 

“But since you are here, there’s no dragon to use that why the Saint and her company is coming here using the carriage. It seems like they’ll arrive here in a week.”

      Zezgard-san who’s always been snarky when conversing with Hurst-san looks down as he replied to the latter with a clouded expression.

    ‘Huh?”   Seeing that expression on his face, I titled my head and asked, “Are you against the fact that Shizuka-chan is coming here?”



“Of course! For her to come out here in the boonies with nothing to do! And in the first place, a girl shouldn’t even come here!”    (Eunie: *facepalm* (－‸ლ) I though he’s worried for her safety)

“Well, yeah and the Demon’s Forest is near as well so it could be dangerous for her”

“That’s right! Since Shizuku came to this world she’s been perplexed about a lot of things. I’m sure even right now she’s suffering. If she stays in the Capital, most of the things she wants can be given and granted to her but she comes here, there’s nothing that I can do here for her… …!”

(Eunie: **Uwaah. This guy. I wanna rant so bad!)


     After saying that I can see the wrinkles form on Zezgard-san’s glabella.
     
     And then he walked towards the place where the Captain and Hurst-san are and BANG!...He struck the table.

“Oi! Hurry and tell them not to let Shizuku come to this place!”



　 “Zezu are you not listening? I’ll say it once again. The Saint has already left the palace and is headed here at this very moment. Second, the Northern Knights do not have the authority to deny them since the document clearly indicated the name of the King.”


“...Argh...That...that damn weakling… ….!!”

After saying that, this time around  Zezgard-san kicked the table causing the piled up documents to scatter to the floor.

“Calm down. Even if you take it out on things nothing will be resolved. Whatsmore even though Thruster schemed things it was the Saint, herself who said she wanted to come here. Didn’t you just say you want to do something for her? Then think of what you can do. Think of what you can do to grant the Saint’s wishes.”


     Hurst-san logically said with his deep sounding voice and Zezgard-san who heard it nodded his head.


“Anyway, since the Saint is on her way then we should make formal preparations as well.”


“... ...Right... Aaah… ...I don’t want to… …”

    Even though his office table was struck and kicked it doesn’t seem to matter much to the Captain. He’s probably used already to such frictions between people and what’s more he probably just finds the fact that Shizuka-chan coming here is a whole lot more bothersome.


“Where is it...where are my quiet days”

   He softly muttered as he started picking up the documents that have fallen

   … ….Yup. He’s wasting himself away.

“... ...I’ll pick it up.”

He probably felt something upon seeing the Captain or maybe it’s because of Hurst-san’s calming voice that he seems to pick up his bearing.


Zezgard-san placed back the Captain’s chair and picked up the documents. After picking everything up, he clicked his tongue and went towards the corner of the room and looked over outside the window. 


...Ma-kun’s sulking.


“Umm, I just want to confirm something.”


     I looked away from Zezgard-san and looked back at Hurst-san.

     And I then asked him about the thing that has been on my mind for a while now.


“Is it okay for me to meet with Shizuku-chan? Or is it better if I distance myself?”

     That’s right. Once, Shizuka-chan arrives, what should I do?

    Since there were also rumors that Shizuku-chan who is unable to use her skill is trying to approach doesn’t seem too far-fetch either. But back in the palace, I was known as a fallen noble, and there’s that difference in our status that’s why we never actually meet.

     That’s why I wonder if there’s a need for me to move somewhere else but then after hearing what I just said Ryleigh-kun suddenly hugged me. 

“Shina-san. You should just stay here Shina-san. Even if the Saint arrives here there’s absolutely no need for you to worry so much”


“I think so as well. According to the messenger bird, the official reason why the Saint is coming here in the Northern Knights Order is to actually see the barrier and for her to be able to master her ‘Saint’s Magic’. However, considering the timing and for her to come around this season means that there’s probably a different reason.” 

     I see. There are the official reason and the actual reason why she decided to come here.


“Since the Saint has already departed there’s no longer time for us to affirm things with Thruster. It’s just that there wasn’t any order for Shina-sama to leave this fortress so there’s no problem if Shina-san stays here.”

“I don’t know the reasons behind the Saint’s decision but Shina-san, there’s no need for you to be drag around by her whims. I just want Shina-san to be able to do what you want.”


“... ...Un.”

    Maybe the whole fallen noble lady remark has completely been engraved in my heart so whenever I hear about Shizuka-chan, the Saint I can’t help for such things to come in my mind.


    But whenever I see those gentle light blue eyes and bright emerald eyes, I can feel my heart softening and warming up… …. 

“I guess you are right. Things were already like that back in the palace so this might be a good chance.”

     That’s right. We’re fellow Japanese and she seemed like a lovely child and I’m sure it would be fun if we can talk. 

“Alright! Then I shall also help in making preparations upon Shizuka-chan’s arrival.”


     I said as I clench both of my fists and then Ryleigh-kun smiled helplessly.


“... ...I think it’s better if Shina-san takes things slowly.”

      And then with his shining emerald-colored eyes, he said, “I will also help”

“Thank you Ryleigh-kun. Umm, Hurst-san there’s still a week before Shizuka-chan arrives right?”


“Yes. Since there’s quite a lot of them and there’s the matter with their lodgings plus depending on the Saint’s help then there’s a chance that it might even take longer than that.”

“So either way it doesn’t change the fact that we don’t have much any time left. What should I do? I wonder if there’s anything I can do?. … ...Ah, since she’s a young girl maybe it’s better to make her room a cute one.”

    I couldn’t help but get lively as I thought of what I could do and when I suddenly lock eyes with Hurst-san, I saw his light blue eyes squinting gently and then I heard him say, ‘You’re right’, agreeing with what I just said.

    I wonder what kind of girl Shizuka-chan is? What kind of things does she like? Since this is a fortress filled mostly with men so it might be impossible to find cute stuff here but if everyone can gather some things then we might just be able to find some.

“Now, now, Ma-kun stop sulking over there and tell us about the things Shizuku-chan likes.”


“... ...I’m not Ma-kun.”

“Between blue and pink, which one does she prefers?”

“... ...Probably blue”

“Is there any food she can’t eat?”

“... ...She’s not picky with food.”

    Ma-kun who is looking over the window is still sulking but he’s properly responding.

    And with this, we can condense the range of things that Shizuku-chan likes.


“... ...Alright. Well, I guess I should just leave things like that to you Hurst and if possible please follow through with the prior formalities and also if possible as securely as possible. It might be hard if you want to buy something since there are no funds or list given but you can use anything you can find here in this fortress.”

“Yes. Well then until the Saint arrives, I’m off from doing general missions.”

“Yeah.”


      After the Captain and Hurst-san’s conversation ended, As I was trying to get information about Shizuku-chan’s likes and dislikes, the Captain and Hurst-san’s conversation ended just like that.

     The Captain looks vigourless as always though it might be because Hurst-san just threw away all the troublesome stuff to Hurst-san so his pallor looks better than usual.

“Well then, I’m off to find what I can do.”


     So that Shizuku-chan can be happy.

     The things I can do to help around the Northern Knight’s Fortress is…
