It’s been three days since Shizuku-chan returned to the royal palace.
I’m living a daily life where nothing in particular changes.
Since Shizuku-chan has returned to the royal palace, Hurst-san has returned to his normal duties and is busy as the vice-commander.
I work with Ryleigh-kun and Zezgard-san, I talk to the women in the village who come to wash and clean, and I help them.

. . . After all, there is loneliness.

Today, I was invited by Garez-san to observe everyone’s training.
It seems that Hurst-san is teaching the members how to use the sword now, and Hurst-san was holding a sword instead of a wooden stick today.
I thought the sword looked heavy, but it was bigger and thicker than the others.
Hurst-san held it with both hands, and a member stood in front of him.

“Oh, he’s the youngest. I wonder what will happen.”

Garez-san is watching with us from the shade of a tree a little distance away.
‘It’s boring just watching!’, he said cheerfully, and brought out the live commentary.

“Since the vice-commander is right-handed, he raises his sword to the upper right.”

“Yes.”

“If you do that, it will cut from the upper right to the lower left, so the easiest way to avoid being cut is to go around to the right side of the vice-commander.”

“I see.”

I nodded to Garez-san’s words.
Even if I watch it alone, I won’t understand it, so if you teach me, it’s easy to understand.

“Ah, look, he’s a guy who sticks to the basics, and when he avoids it, he jumps to the left, so please watch.”

As Garez-san said, the person who crossed swords with Hurst-san flew to the left the moment Hurst-san raised his sword.
Then Hurst-san’s sword should cut through the empty space. . . but. . .

“Eh”

The next moment, the member’s sword flew away and pierced the stone wall of the fort.
. . . Why?

“Ah. . . that’s right. There’s no way you can get through to the vice-commander like that. . .”

The member who was unarmed and lost his posture curled up on the spot to protect his stomach and head.
Then Hurst-san kicked the person in the stomach.
Then, the member was flung in the same direction as the sword and hit the stone wall. . .

“No. . .! Seriously!”

“Don’t take attacks with your sword. Avoid.”

“Ah, I don’t know what to do! Vice-Commander, one more!”

“Come.”

It was clearly painful, and he was breathing heavily, but the person who was kicked immediately stood up, pulled out the sword, and headed towards Hurst-san once more.
Yeah. . . everyone is fine. . .

“Isarai-sama, did you understand the movement of the vice-commander earlier?”

“No, not at all.”

At all.

“Hmm, that’s right. I couldn’t see it properly either, but the vice-commander knew from the beginning that he was going to fly to the left, and the moment he raised it to the right, he let go with his left hand and swung it down to the right.”

“. . . huh”

“In terms of the range of activity of the body, if you hold it in one hand, the sword will reach the place where he flew. But it’s natural if it’s one hand the power will fall, and usually you should hold the sword with both hands and take it firmly.”

Garez-san’s explanation is easy to understand, but it seems that Hurst-san doesn’t follow the theory.
After all, I think the member was holding the sword with both hands and trying to receive the sword in front of his body.
But the next moment, the sword flew away. . .

“The vice-commander’s sword. It’s too powerful, and if you take it, you lose. . .”

Garez-san added that the vice-commander is no longer human.

“It’s the same with magic beasts. If you get hit, you lose. Magic beasts’ attacks are heavy, so the sword will break or they’ll fly away.”

“Hmm.”

“Well, when I run out of swords, I’ll run away immediately. No matter what position I’m in, I’ll run away first. Otherwise, if I get blown away by the second attack and hit a tree or something like that, my bones will break and I’ll be finished.”

“. . .huh”

“And Isarai-sama, that are! I want you to see it!”

“Ho”

“It’s still a sword for fighting humans. The vice-commander will turn it into a sword for fighting magic beasts. Avoid attacks. Run away when it’s dangerous. But that’s actually fighting magic beasts. If you don’t do it, you won’t be able to understand it easily. But we have the vice-commander here!”

Garez-san is really excited and looked at me with a smile.

“If you take on the vice-commander, it will naturally become a sword for magic beasts! Look, I’ve gotten really good at avoiding it too! It’s all thanks to the vice-commander quitting being human!”

“. . . . That’s right.”

The shining smile of Garez-san and my calming heart.
Yes. I don’t really understand, but I know that Hurst-san is protecting everyone’s lives. I got it. I knew that he was an amazing person, but Garez-san has been telling me about it every day lately, so I really got to know him.

. . . Scary.

I think Hurst-san is a magic beast of the race called handsome polar bear. I think it’s a polar bear type magic beast.
That’s right, I nodded to myself.
Then Hurst-san, who had been training with the members until now, let out a low voice.

“Wait.”

It’s not a loud sound, but it resonates.
The member who was about to slash Hurst-san immediately stopped moving, and the other members who were waiting for their turn while looking around also turned their attention to Hurst-san all at once.

“. . . Make an emergency summons. Prepare your equipment. One should report to the commander, and the other should bring back those who went to the magic beast forest.”

While receiving everyone’s gaze, Hurst-san announces the emergency in a calm voice.
I could feel the tension that ran through them.

“Especially those who went to patrol the magic beast forest, hurry up and come here.”

“Yes.”

“Go.”

The members quickly spread out and run for their respective roles.
Hurst-san glanced at them and confirmed it, then turned his steps towards us.

“Garez”

“Yes!”

“Send Shina-sama to the tower. The top floor is probably the safest place. Call Ryleigh and Zez there.”

“Understood!”

First, he went to Garez-san.
Apparently, he asked to evacuate me and gather Ryleigh-kun and Zezgard-san.
Next, Hurst-san turned his gaze to me.

“Shina-sama, I apologize for the suddenness. . . . I have a bad feeling.”

“. . . . that is. . . ”

“Yes. Evacuate anyway.”

“Understood.”

I nodded yes to Hurst-san’s words.
Until now, Hurst-san’s ‘bad premonition’ hit us many times and helped us.
So I’m sure something will happen this time too. . .
Hurst-san will probably be busy giving instructions to the members and various other things, so it would be better to follow Hurst-san’s instructions first.
Thinking that, when I tried to move right away, Hurst-san suddenly narrowed his light blue eyes.

“You are safe.”

Gently outstretched hand.
It strokes my head.
A gentle, soft hand touched me, grabbed a strand of hair next to me, and held it up.
The place it was lifted to was Hurst-san’s mouth. . .

“Then”

The hair that was touched for a moment and immediately released fluttered in the wind.
Hurst-san immediately turned on his heel and I just saw him off.

“Let’s go! The vice-commander will do well too! Well then, let’s hurry to the tower.”

“. . . . .Yes.”

While being led by Garez-san, I climbed the tower and entered the room on the top floor.
As soon as Garez-san confirmed that I had entered the room, he immediately ran away.
I think he probably went to call Ryleigh-kun and Zezgard-san.
The room in the tower that Shizuku-chan was in until three days ago.
I sat down on the sofa placed in the center of the room, making a noise.

“Hurst-san. . . that’s. . .”

In the room alone, I remember Hurst-san’s gesture.
. . . .It was full of sex appeal. It was a more mature smile.
But. . .

. . . . My body doesn’t get stiff like usual.

My face doesn’t get hot, and my breath doesn’t stop.
My heart didn’t beat so fast that it hurt.
There is just. . . anxiety.
I mean, it’s like. . . a farewell greeting. . .

“Shina-san, I’m sorry I’m late.”

“. . . you”

Just when I thought I heard hurried footsteps, Ryleigh-kun and Zezgard-san rushed into the room.
Ryleigh-kun looks relieved when he sees me sitting on the sofa.
Without stopping, Zezgard-san went to the window and sat on the window sill.

“I heard that Vol-san had a bad feeling again. Since Vol-san is with the Knights, Shina-san will be protected by me and Zez-san, so please don’t worry.”

“Yes, thank you.”

While Ryleigh-kun is sitting next to me, he gently holds my had.
That warm hand calmed the commotion in my chest just a little.

“Ryleigh-kun. I. . . I never thought about meat. That’s why I don’t think that magic beasts will come out like before. . .”

Yes. I really didn’t think about it.
Because it’s different from before, that may be why my heart is so noisy.

“Vol-san’s ‘bad premonition’ works on anything. Earthquakes, floods, and other disasters, and even when food is poisoned. It doesn’t matter.”

“I see. . . .”

“I don’t know what’s going to happen, but. . . Right now, Vol-san is all set up, so I’m sure it’ll be fine.”

“. . . .Yes.”

I nodded that I understood what Ryleigh-kun said.
Then, he got up and approached a different window from Zezgard-san.
I wondered if I could see anything from the tower windows.
From the window of the tower, you can see the magic beast forest, a milky white barrier.
The forest is vast, and the barrier that covers it is so large that my field of vision cannot capture the whole picture.
Assuming there’s a hole somewhere. . . finding it would be very difficult.
When I let out a sigh, Ryleigh-kun quietly snuggled up next to me.

“Shina-san. It might be better not to get too close to the window.”

“Oh, is that so?”

“Yeah. If a gust of wind blows and the window glass breaks, it’s dangerous. . .”

I don’t know what’s going on.
That’s why I want to be vigilant about various things, Ryleigh-kun laughed embarrassedly.

I nodded at Ryleigh-kun’s words and moved my body away from the window.
But, in the end, the ordinary sight that was at the edge of my vision disappeared. . .

“Eh”

“. . .That”

In order to see the spectacle properly, I returned the body that was about to leave the window and took another good look at it.
Ryleigh-kun, who was next to me, was also stunned and stared out the window to confirm it.

“. . . It’s terrible.”

Zezgard-san, who was looking out from a different window, let out a low, groaning voice that resounded in the room.
‘terrible’.
Yes. That must be true.

. . .There is no barrier.

Until just a moment ago, it was commonplace in our sight, and it was protecting us.

. . . The milky-white barrier is nowhere to be seen.

Vast northern woods.
The barrier that covered all of it and stopped the ferocious monsters.
It popped and disappeared like a bursting soap bubble.

For a moment I thought Shina had summoned polar bear magic beasts by thinking about them. It was perfect timing after all. Unfortunately, it seems much worse. So, does Shina realize Hurst-san’s feelings for her now? And her own for him?
