Chapter 11

The villas here were actually quite far apart. Although the two areas where Lin Tantan and the old lady were located happened to be the closest places between the villas, there was still a distance of more than six metres, rendering ordinary people capable of nothing except sighing.

Lin Tantan's eyes lit up as she looked carefully at the old lady and the room exposed by the window. There must be no zombies, could there be bad guys... She looked at her feet and stretched out her hands. Looking at the seven or eight zombies trying to reach her like starving ghosts, especially the zombie that had knocked out the glass window into forming cobwebs, she made a decision.

She waved to the old lady: "Get out of the way!"

Then two green vines were sent out, hooking on the window sill and smashing through like a cannonball.

As she threw herself into the window in one fell swoop, the two green vines dissipated due to exhaustion of energy.

The Wood-type ability, being used by her as a stretching rope, was also quite aggrieved.

Lin Tantan got up, shook her head, and saw the old lady by the window looking at her in astonishment. There were also several people standing at the door of the room, all of them staring at her with their mouths wide open, deeply amazed at her appearance.

Lin Tantan stood up and came to the window first. Those zombies had already turned around and were stretching out their hands towards this villa. Fortunately, there were two layers of fences in between, so they couldn't get through.

Lin Tantan closed the window, drew the curtains, and turned on the light in the room, which was very bright. She looked at the old lady and said, "Thank you."

"Hey! Girl, I saw you rushing in alone, it was not easy."

The old lady also came to her senses at this moment, looking up and down at her: "I'm sure you're injured, there's medicine at home, I'll get it for you."

As she spoke, she walked out of the house, and Lin Tantan followed, causing the people at the door to spontaneously separate; still looking at Lin Tantan with surprise and vigilance, while walking downstairs with them.

Lin Tantan was also looking at them. Most of the people upstairs and downstairs were old men and women. There were as many as seven or eight of them. There were also two middle-aged women; one was well-dressed and good-looking, while the other looked like a nanny. Four children ranging from four to eight years old could also be seen.

There wasn't even one middle-aged man. Lin Tantan was worried about the safety of these people, but she was also relieved; her tense nerves relaxing slightly.

Facing such a group of people with little fighting power, she seemed to have nothing to worry about. On the contrary, she herself with a dirty body and a big axe was more like a villain.

When she came to the living room on the first floor, the group of old men and women surrounded her, asking what was going on outside and where she was from.

Lin Tantan said everything she knew. Hearing that many people outside had turned into zombies, they were in a mess. These old and young people all became very sad. Some were worried about their children outside, while the others were worried about their future.

Lin Tantan also figured out their situation. The owners of this villa were an old couple surnamed Xu. Their son passed away a few years ago, while their daughter-in-law remarried, leaving only a seven-year-old granddaughter to live with them. Along with a nanny, there were only four people in the family.

Since today was New Year's Day, many families in the villa area had relatives and children coming over to visit. The few houses that had no-one to visit felt lonely, and so gathered at the Xu's house to play.

Coincidentally, as the end of the world arrived, the people here remained fine, but the other people in the villa area were not so lucky. The people in the Xu family villa quickly closed the inner and outer gates and hid themselves.

At this time, the old man of the Xu family comforted everyone and said: "Don't worry, the rescuers will arrive tomorrow; there will always be a way."

Lin Tantan was surprised when she heard this:

"Will there be rescuers?"

It was a third-tier city whose population could not be underestimated. It was one of the first cities to be abandoned. She remembered that it had taken more than ten days for the army to come and pick up the survivors to retreat. At that time, of the two million people that originally lived here, less than 300,000 people left the city alive.

"It's a special forces team."

Old lady Xu, who had invited Lin Tantan, said. After she learned that Lin Tantan was a college student who had escaped here alone from the South University Town, she really liked her bravery and ability. She said,

"My husband had made great contributions to the country before retiring, and my son is also a martyr who sacrificed for the country. The higher-ups still remember us at this moment, so they have sent someone over. When the time comes, daughter, will you come with us? It would be really dangerous for you to travel alone any longer."

Lin Tantan shook her head: "I'm going to the North University Town."

"Hey, that's a long way."

"It takes more than an hour when driving."

"How can she drive now, didn't you hear this girl say that the road is blocked by cars?"

The old people chattered, asking Lin Tantan why she was going there. Lin Tantan told them that she was going there to find someone, making the old people sigh again; they also had children and relatives outside, but they didn’t know how they were, or whether they could even meet again.

After meeting and getting to know each other for a while, Mrs. Xu took the medicine box to Lin Tantan. She also arranged a room for her on the first floor and found her a change of clothes.
