Ch10 - Work-related Injuries

As soon as Lou Chengcheng finished his business meeting, he left the restaurant. He sat inside his car and played some games. After a while, he heard a loud screech as if something had bumped into his car.

He was startled and lowered the car window. He happened to see a young boy with a handsome face half-lying on his door, riding a blue shared bicycle under him.

He put down his phone and was about to open the door. Just after exerting little effort, the boy hurriedly covered his elbows, “Please be gentle—”

There were still sparkling tears hanging in the corners of his eyes.

Luo Chengcheng understood, today he met a scammer.

“Hey, the competition in your industry is quite fierce, and all the young guys have joined?” He asked calmly with one arm on the window.

“Huh?” The boy didn’t seem to understand what he was talking about, “What do you mean?”

Luo Chengcheng smiled, picked up his phone, and swiped a few times, “Tell me, how much do you want? I don’t have much time to waste.”

Fei Bai felt that the brain circuit of the owner of the luxury car was strange. Before he could apologize, the other party said a bunch of inexplicable things, and then asked him how much he wanted.

Just like a scam.

So now scams are all about the willingness to take the bait?

He shook his elbow, feeling that his bones were not broken, he jumped off the bicycle to straighten the front of the bicycle, and then said to the car owner seriously, “Sir, I’m sorry for hitting your car. Why don’t we call the traffic officer, don’t worry. I will definitely pay for it.”

Luo Chengcheng was taken aback after hearing this, and after looking at the boy up and down, he felt that his judgment was wrong all this time.

Just as he was about to say that you don’t need to pay for it, the boy took out a post-it note from his bag. He wrote something on it and stuffed it into him, “Sorry sir, I’m going to be late for class. Can you call me after the traffic police judge the responsibility?”

Luo Chengcheng took it and heard the distant class bell ringing on the campus of S University not far away.

It turned out that he was also a student of S University, so he could be regarded as his cousin’s younger brother.

“All right. Go ahead.” He waved his hand. He originally planned to roll the post-it note and throw it away. After thinking about it, it might be useful in the future, so he turned on the phone and entered the number.

There are two words after the series of numbers on the post-it note, which should be the boy’s name.

“Fei Bai,” he repeated, “it sounds pretty good.”

And he’s good-looking.

Fei Bai rushed to the campus in a panic. The educational research method he was going to take was a compulsory course for majors. The professors in the class were notoriously strict. During roll call, they should say ‘present’ when their name was called. If he missed it twice, all attendance points would be deducted. He had already missed a class last week because of his brokenheartedness, so this time he could not be absent anymore. Otherwise, he would have stayed with the car owner just now and waited for the traffic officer to arrive.

Halfway through, he felt someone grab him. He turned his head and saw that it was Qiao Li.

Qiao Li pointed to the vacant seat next to him, “It’s for you.”

“Thanks.” Fei Bai quickly took off his schoolbag and sat down.

“Fei Bai, what’s the matter with you? How dare you be late for this class? Don’t you know? The teacher looked at you several times when you entered the classroom just now. I was afraid that he would ask your name to record your absence.” Qiao Li muttered.

At this time, the assistant called Fei Bai’s name and he quickly shouted “Here”. Then whispered, “I hit a car at the entrance a while ago.”

Qiao Li let out a “shit”  and said, “Crash? Did you hit someone or did someone hit you?

“I rode a shared bike, if someone hit me would I still be here? Right now, I might be lying in the hospital.” Fei Bai said.

“Then what car did you crash into?” Qiao Li then asked.

Feibai sighed and said the brand of the car.

Qiao Li’s eyes widened, “Why didn’t you twist the handle bar and hit a cheaper one?”

Fei Bai said angrily, “If I could twist the handle bar against gravity at that time, Newton and his elders would have to jump out of the coffin and give me a medal for challenging the impossible.”

Qiao Li patted his arm and comforted him, “It’s okay, better than hitting a van.”

“Why? Isn’t a van cheaper?” Fei Bai asked casually.

Qiao Li said, “The main thing is that you don’t know how many people can come down from the van to beat you up.”

Fei Bai ignored him, and took out the textbook and his laptop from his schoolbag. He put them on the table and started listening to the class. The part-time job at the convenience store is stale, and he didn’t get his salary for the previous month. After Xu Geyang moved out, he had to pay the rent by himself. He doesn’t have any extra money now, and he doesn’t know how to compensate the owner of the car.

He could only ask Luo Yusen if he can advance his salary.

Fei Bai hesitated for a while, but still took out his mobile phone and sent Luo Yusen a message during recess.

“Senior brother, can you advance my salary for one month?”

A new message appeared on Luo Yusen’s mobile phone screen, he glanced at it, it was from the kid.

“Why?” he replied.

Fei Bai: “I hit a car at the school gate.”

Fei Bai: “The car is very expensive. I may not have enough money to compensate the owner.

Crash? Luo Yusen frowned and asked, “How are you?”

Fei Bai: “Oh, you ask me? I’m fine.”

Luo Yusen looked at the sentence “I’m fine” for a few seconds, and then said, “Give me the bank card number.”

After he transferred the money to Feibai, Secretary Zheng knocked on the door to remind him about his meeting. He responded and went to the conference room with his phone.

The heads of various departments are basically all there, but the seat of the R&D department is still empty.

Luo Yusen waited for a few minutes and still couldn’t see Luo Chengcheng’s figure. He looked at Secretary Zheng who was beside him. Secretary Zheng understood and went outside the conference room to make a call. After a few minutes, he came back and whispered something to Luo Yusen.

“His car was hit by someone?” Luo Yusen repeated.

Secretary Zheng nodded, “Yes, it was said that he was hit by a student on a bicycle near S University. He has already asked someone to help him deal with it, and he will come back immediately.”

Luo Yusen was immune to Luo Chengcheng’s tardiness to work.

“You don’t have to wait for him, let’s start first,” Luo Yusen turned on the computer, “Mark him absent today.”

He guessed right, Luo Chengcheng was late until the meeting was over, and as soon as he saw him, he shouted “brother” with a big smile on his face.

“I really didn’t mean not to come to the meeting. Please listen to my explanation…” Luo Chengcheng began to describe his own car accident experience with more fuel.

According to his past experience, his brother should have interrupted him in the middle of the talk, but he didn’t expect Luo Yusen to listen patiently today.

He was about to expose the fact that he went to a nearby friend after he sent the car for repair, so he changed the subject and said, “Hey brother, now I understand why some men like to play with little boys. Let me tell you, the boy who hit my car today looks so innocent, I want to try it… brother, what are you doing?”

As soon as he said those words, Luo Yusen stuffed a thick stack of documents into his elbow, causing his arms to sink.

“The meeting materials submitted by various departments should be read and written before 12 o’clock this evening. The opinions and suggestions from the perspective of product design will be written and brought to me tomorrow.” Luo Yusen said blankly.

Luo Chengcheng looked down at the A4 paper in his arms that could be bound into a book, and said pitifully, “Brother, isn’t this a work-related injury? Do I still have to work?”

“Work-related injury?”

Luo Yusen looked at him casually, “Where is the injury?”

“The injury is… The injury is here, mainly because it left a mental shadow.” Luo Chengcheng pointed to his own brain.

Luo Yusen nodded, “If it is really hurt, it is reasonable to say that you don’t have to work.”

“Really? Then I can take a vacation?” Luo Chengcheng said in surprise.

Luo Yusen raised his hand and tapped his shoulder with his knuckles: “But I am unreasonable.”

Fei Bai soon received the money from Luo Yusen, he was relieved and began to wait for the car owner to give him a call. The owner of the car never contacted him. He was a little anxious and wondered if he had accidentally written the phone number wrong that day.

“I’m not saying it, but Feibai, you are too conscientious. Isn’t it a good thing that the owner did not look for you? If you think you have too much money, this buddy will help you spend it.” Qiao Li said after listening to his worries.

Fei Bai thought that what he said also made sense. Maybe not all rich people are bad, and he felt that contacting him was a waste of time.

However, it is not easy for him to return Luo Yusen’s money. Since he has taken the money from Party A’s father, he will seriously work hard. After class, Fei bai went to the library to borrow a few books about child psychology and communication disorders documents. He went home and studied until midnight, more serious than when I was in the third year of high school.

The consequence of staying up late was that he overslept the next morning and was undoubtedly late for his public elective class at 8 a.m.

The public elective class was full of people. He stood at the back door of the classroom and observed for a long time, and finally saw an empty seat through the gap.

Fei Bai walked over with his schoolbag, leaned over, and whispered to the classmate who was sitting in the outermost row with dyed blue hair: “Hello, can you let me in?”

Lan Mao turned his head and glanced at him. After seeing his face clearly, his eyes suddenly changed, and he said coldly, “No.”

Fei Bai was dumbfounded, what’s wrong with this man?

Before he could say anything, Lan Mao picked up the schoolbag that had been placed at his feet and piled it heavily on the empty seat beside him.

Fei Bai was dumbfounded, he stood in place and neither stood nor sat, until he caught the teacher’s attention.

“That student over there, who was late in my class. Sat down quietly, and you won’t have to stand up for punishment.”
